Advice on ned-sized worms for structure
Tiny Child Rig/ Ned-O (Ned/Neko) rig was fairly popular here a year or two ago. Just put a small nail weight in one end of the Ned bait and use a small #1 or #2 wide gap hook on the other end. You can always upsize to say a 4” bait to accommodate a bigger hook in the aught size. Traditional plastics will be easier to rig vs Elaztec

My Walmart has the Abu Vengeance combo with bonus cranks on clearance for $40. Is this the same as the regular Vengeance? Picked one up anyways. Always thought they were a good deal with a reel for $70 when the rod is worth that alone. They were 7’ med heavy https://brickseek.com/walmart-inventory-checker/?sku=175352761 They also had spinning ones for $40. Not sure what the action/power was. Can’t find on brickseek.

Are slightly swollen plastics any good?
Guys, BaitFuel is water based so “it’s not like anything before”. That’s why the baits are swelling up more. Not saying it’s magic. Haven’t used it myself and have heard mixed opinions.

Salad Spoon epic fail
Unweighted hook keeps the bait on top of the water Try some zoom horny toads or another type of kicking toad

Are slightly swollen plastics any good?
I’ve Ned rigged some slightly swollen stickbaits and had a good day catching them. As long as it doesn’t affect the action you’re looking for, I’d say you’re good to go!

Salad Spoon epic fail
You used a glass rod? I think that’s the issue. Those are generally reserved for crank baits and other treble hooked baits Oh and go straight braid. Mono stretches I don’t have experience with the salad spoon but with top water toads I use an unweighted ewg hook

- T-rigged swimbait.
I’m thinking either no fish were around or they were being very picky. That’s what is so good about a Texas rig- you can put practically anything on it and expect results. I agree It may not be the most natural presentation with it diving nose first but you def could elicit reaction strikes. Also a constant slow roll wouldn’t gain much benefit from a belly weight IMO- First Bass on chatterbait
Well that’s considered 1/2 soft plastic. Time to go full cold turkey and use a hard bait lol- Best Selling Soft Plastic
That’s a neat trick schplurg! Could you walk me through how to see it ranked like that? ps. Never mind, found it. Just had to keep going through all the categories.- Only One
- Storing Garlic Scented Baits
I don’t have many Gambler baits but I store my soft plastics in big ziploc bags that are made for laundry. I get them at dollar tree. Maybe bagging them in another bag would at least help?- Sweet beaver as a jig trailer
Tacklehd.com has some very durable beavers on sale for $1.50 per 10. A little thin though, not sure how they will do on a jig if you’re having issues with the sweet beaver- Sweet beaver as a jig trailer
Sweet beavers are loaded with salt. Maybe try another brand that’s more durable like Yum wooly bug, missile baits d-bomb, big bite baits yomamma- Shakey Head for 4.5 worm recommendations?
I’ve had good luck with Buckeye lures Spot Remover. A lot of folks don’t like them because of their small hook, poor hookup percentage, and flat head. Def not the best for weeds. I stocked up a bunch when they were $.79 on clearance at Dicks. Just make sure to bend the hook point out ever so slightly to increase hookup. The other shakey head I have with a small hook is the Tru-Tungsten Mike Iaconelli made. They have a EWG hook that is very small. Or if you want to go EWG Ned style, Amazon “madbite ned” and get a bunch for $18 after coupon.- Jason Christie winning lure?
Thanks for the replies everyone! I knew I could count on you guys to get to the bottom of this “mystery” bait! I just might have the kids try a small fluke/light jighead combo on a bobber and see how effective it is!- Jason Christie winning lure?
From Bassmaster: He caught half of his weight targeting bass on Garmin LiveScope in a 15- to 30-foot drain that he said held “hundreds of fish” the first two days. He used a spinning rod with a 3/16-ounce jighead and a prototype lure from Yum that only this week earned an official name, the FF Sonar Minnow, which stands for “Forward Facing Sonar Minnow.” “It’s a bait that I can cast to the fish and work the rod and keep it on him; the bait does not move forward,” Christie said. “It’s a technique that I’ve been working on for about five years now. “A lot of times you throw a swimbait over the top of them and they’ll just trail it. But you can drop this bait right to the fish and keep it on top of him.” My question is what does this lure look like? Can’t find it anywhere. I know it’s a prototype but nothing is kept secret nowadays. I was thinking something like a Damiki or Ned rig but he says he cast the lure.- Gamakatsu G Finesse Cover Neko Hook
I’ll try them in a couple years when they are on clearance because they haven’t sold. But right now it’s the latest thing Shin Fukae is hawking. Lol- Big bite baits hula grub...
They’re a little bigger than I would like at 5” but the bass, even smallies, around me don’t complain. I haven’t used a Yamamoto one much but I’m assuming the action isn’t as great since these do not have a very high salt content, if any. I bought a bunch from Gander Mountain when they were about $3-4 a pack. The action on the twin tails is decent I would say, not great.- Gamakatsu G Finesse Cover Neko Hook
Lol @ $8 for 3 hooks. I just use plain ewg hooks rigged weedless neko (chicken rig/bwwk rig)and haven’t had any issues. Rig it the same way you would with that expensive gami hook. something like this except I skin hook the point back into the worm to make it more weedless- Gamakatsu g-lock worm hooks
That’s the answer...Elaztec baits are super soft. I saw a Zman pro say(don’t remember who) he likes plain offset hooks with the hook point buried in the plastic ready to come out. Not the hook point laying flat against the worm like traditionally rigging an ewg. It seems the g-lock hook bends in a tiny bit, prob could open the gap some of you need to use them. i agree, I don’t have any problem using reg ol’ ewg hooks - T-rigged swimbait.
