  2. Thanks again y'all. I appreciate the looks and the comments. Rob: Be glad to. I regularly visit and post on two: Cigar Pass and Cigar Weekly. Yes, that's a Megabass Etna rod and a Custom(Yellow) JDM Daiwa TD-Z reel. My orange Pixy's on another rod. Still have and use three Kistler LTA Heliums and I'm very glad you got yours and like them too. Dan
  3. Thanks y'all. I've been almost depressed with my fish-less months. It's been too cold, windy, and rainy for my tastes but we surely need the rain. BB: That TN70 is the very best lipless cr/bait I've ever used. It's caught me several nice Bass with its different sound, wiggle, and colors. I do have two more traps in the mail from a friend who is also a lure maker and they cost even more than the Jackalls . Dan
  4. Well, it's been a while since I've caught a decent Bass. Have to go back to 01/10/08 when I caught a 5/7 on this very same bait. Today was sunny/clear with a 'bluebird' sky, little wind, and air temps in the high 70's. Last night we had a severe wind storm blow through with a little rain and I didn't expect to do much catching today. I was ripping this bait as fast as I could with my Daiwa 6.3/1 reel and it paid off. I caught four 1 lbers and then hooked up with a large Bass. She jumped twice during the 30 second fight and threw the bait on the second jump. I suspected the original hooks that were on there had dulled a bit but they passed the "dig into my thumbnail test". Caught two more 1 lbers along that bank and then moved on around this 7 acre farm pond that belongs to my former boss. After about two hours, I was back at the same area and started throwing that same bait and retrieving it as fast as I could. Then I felt a bite and worked her quickly to the bank and I actually believe it was the same Bass that got off earlier. Don't know for sure but I did get a good look at the first one when she jumped. No bed-fanning marks on the tail so I think it's still a little early for bedding just yet. Other ponds I've been in in my boat lately have had water temps in the high 50's, low 60's. 6 lbs, 12 ounces, 26 inches on an Aurora Black TN70 bait. Belly shot Sad to say, she inhaled that bait and the rear hooks pierced into some of her gills and she bled quite a bit. I held her in the water for a few minutes and she did swim away. Hope she lives to spawn soon. Dan

  12. Thanks everyone. It was a great trip with a knowledgeable and funny friend. He puts me to shame with his Bassin' expertise but I held my own yesterday. I had been throwing that Jackall TN70 'trap' using a Pixy. He convinced to switch over to a faster Daiwa after he caught his second Bass using a 7:1 Shimano. The Pixy was too slow for a trap in warm water. I got that 5 lber the second cast after switching rigs/reels. Here is Joe and a 5 lber when we were on the Ocmulgee River a couple of months ago. Dan
  13. Went to Lake Juliette today with a friend, Joe. We were in his Tracker boat. Got there about 9 AM and fished until 3:30. The ramp at Dames Ferry was almost impossible to use. The water level is down about 10 feet. We had to get the trailer over the rocks at the end of the ramp and into maybe 1-2' of water. His 4X4 F150 made it back out. We saw mounds/humps of clay where they had been underwater since the lake was filled. We fished mostly in 5-6' of water, throwing 'traps' and spinnerbaits as the Southernly wind was picking up. Water temps were high for this time of year; 55-58 degrees. We had cloud cover most of the day with air temps in the low 70s(I think?) We ended up with 9 Bass in his livewell. Both of us lost 2 or 3 Bass as they got off of the 'traps' but we landed some nice ones. I caught a 5/7 and a few small ones. Joe caught a 4-5 lber(?--didn't weigh it) and the majority of the 9 Bass. Getting the boat out was a real hassle but as Joe has done this many times(he fishes tournaments), he finally got the boat on the trailer by winching it on. Had a great time with some decent Bass and the jokes and jibes were flying! Click on the pic for an enlargement. 5lbs, 7ozs--24" Another view Dan
  14. What a memory this thread brought up! I and my best friend were on the edge of the Tamiami Trail canal, just west of Miami, Florida back in the 70s. We were talking while I was fishing, throwing an 8" black/chartruese tail Scoundrel T-rigged worm out into the middle of that wide canal. I just let it rest(didn't know the term "dead-sticking" back then) on the bottom for a minute or two as Terry and I talked. I took up the slack and started to retrieve the Scoundrel. It stopped and I thought I'd picked up a snag. Then the line started moving slowly, by itself, off to the side. I knew it was a fish then. I set the hook and then reeled in(no fight to speak of) my first heavy Bass, an 8 lber. That was the one that got me 'hooked'. Thanks for the memory! Dan
  15. Matt's Bluegills do not need extra weight. And yes, they make great bed baits:
  16. Back in 2001, I got excited over Ford's F150 Lightning. I bought one in May of that year and decided I had to come up with an appropriate screen name. I thought about it for several days and finally came up with Lightninrod. Side view Both of us running a 12.531 second 1/4 mile Front view Dan

Beautiful Bass sm! You've done way better than I have lately. Dan
  23. Sorry. I just added the info.
  24. Try it You will see the fish swimming in the lake. Click on the place in the lake you want the man to cast his line. Remember the fish are swimming and if you click on the fish by the time he casts his line the fish will have moved beyond that point. So click on a spot ahead of the fish where you think the fish will be after the line has been cast. Dan
