10/15/07--Swimming Senko 4 lber
Oh no, I didn't mean to imply that. I do pause, twitch(the tail thumps then), and reel the SS in slowly, trying to mimic an injured/dying forage fish. Dan

Went fishing - caught a gator
Great story(and well written!) and I would have loved to see some pics. Next time maybe? Dan

I agree. The SS's slender design and length allow for a very active tail-wagging, side-to-side action at a very slow retrieve. It works(weightless) for me . Dan

10/15/07--Swimming Senko 4 lber
Went to the farm pond for a couple of hours this afternoon; cloudy, some wind, low sunlight, 80s temp, with rain approaching. Right after I got there, I started throwing the BD Spit-n-Image and got a hookup on a 3 lber. Just one bite after that, a dink on a T-rigged Swimming Senko. 3/14--23" Same Bass Dan

Big Swimbaits
Swimbaits are usually BIG and therefore, displace more water than other baits. With a thumping tail too, I wouldn't hesitate to throw one in murky water. Dan

Who makes custom reels?
Rowland: There is a Basser out in Texas that has tuned/customized some reels for me. He is excellent and may either customize your own reel or he may have one or two of his own he will sell you. He can be trusted and works quickly if needed. PM me if you want his personal info. Dan

Swimbait question
I've caught more Bass on swimbaits(Matt's to be specific) in the heat(100+ degrees!) down here but don't let that turn you off. As FB said, they work in the cold temps too. Most swimbaits are worked/retrieved very slowly and that matches a Bass's temperament in cold water . Dan

Big Swimbaits
What Matt and Randall said! 8-) I've caught a few Bass on swimbaits, the most and the largest(my PB, a 9 lb-even Bass) on Matt's swimbaits. Here's a swimbait that fits your situation but it's expensive! I have caught Bass with it in farm ponds down here. Dan

10/16/07--Short river trip
No, it's not a catfish though their mouth resembles one. They are more widely known as a bowfin. They are considered as trash fish down here. Noticed GA isn't in that description's locale??? I was sure I'd taken a pic of the larger one caught but it's missing. Thanks y'all for the looks. That river is truly picturesque, wild, untamed, and loaded with all kinds of fish including the 'jumping'(a boater drowned recently while trying to dodge one and was thrown from the boat with no PFD on) Strurgeon; a frighteningly large fish. Sturgeons Bowfin/mudfish: Dan

10/16/07--Short river trip
Yesterday, my neighbor called me at about 2 PM, asking if I wanted to go to the river and fish with him in his Tracker boat. Didn't hesitate a second as he's a tournament Basser(just came in first at Lake Oconee last weekend with his partner) in addition to Bassin' for fun and he know's the Ocmulgee River like he know's his backyard. He can place his casts and pitches like no one else I've fished with. For those that might not know, the Ocmulgee is the river that formed the oxbow lake that the World's Record Bass was caught out of way back in 1932. That oxbow(known as Lake Montgomery) is filled in and silted over from what I've heard but the river itself still yield's some heavy Bass, Sturgeon, catfish, mudfish, and of course, panfish. We floated down from the get-in spot South of H'wy 96. I caught a 2(?) lb mudfish on a Chatterbait of all things! We saw a 4-6'(?) long Sturgeon jump completely out of the water a few yards from the boat. No other bites after an hour or so so he cranked up the outboard and took us upriver to a slough just a short way north of the get-in spot. Right away, he hooked a 4-6(?) lb mudfish on an Ol' Monster, T-rigged worm. Both mudfish were made into gator food with the use of a 22 mag. A short time later, he hooks and lands a 5(we didn't weigh it) lb Bass. That was all we caught but what a joy to be on that historic river. Left-click on the pics for enlargement: 5 lber caught on a pitched jig The Bass came off of that log in front of the boat. Nice river shot Another one Dan

10/15/07--Swimming Senko 4 lber
Thanks y'all and yes, she was skinny. Jim: No, warm water is fine with me as I caught a couple of 4-5 lbers there back in the summer heat. I've just been lazy and have gone to the farm ponds most of the time instead of struggling to get to the swamp pond :-?. BFM: 95% of the time, I fish the SS weightless(as I did with that 4 lber), either T-rigged with a 4/0 GY Sugoi hook or wacky-rigged with a 3/0, weedless Gammy hook. Weightless, is for shallow(1-5') water for me. For deeper water, I have T-rigged it with a weight and caught a 6 lber doing it that way. The last half of the SS makes a great Chatterbait or jig trailer too. Dan

10/15/07--Swimming Senko 4 lber
About 5 minutes after putting in the boat at the swamp pond, a 4 lber picked up my Swimming Senko near the boat. Didn't realize she was that big until I got her mouth out of the water. Partly cloudy, in the 80s, some wind, and only about 1 foot of water clarity there today. Caught three dinks; two on the SS and one on a Spit-n-Image t/w. After 2 hours, I went to the farm pond and only caught 1 dink. 4 lbs, 4 ozs--22" Gut shot Left click on the pic for better resolution. Dan

Carrot Stick came in. No really. **PICS**
The rod bends all the way through its length: Of course, there can be 'stiff' or 'whippy' parabolic rods.... Dan

Fact from Fiction about Spray scents on Post below
I use Megastrike for its lasting properties. On both soft plastics and hard(plastic, metal, or wood) baits, it lasts for days. It also makes any bait slipperier and that makes for more effective hooksets, especially the larger the bait. But.....................I loves me licorice.................. 8-) Dan
