  1. Get one of these rods. Very low-priced but the standard in swimbait rods for a lot of guys. Get a spool of this line in 20#(25# would be better) test Get one of these reels in the '300' size. Dan

  3. I'm lucky with baitcaters(that's all that I use) in that I'm left-handed and that's one of the few times being left-handed has an advantage . IMO, your dominate arm should handle the more difficult task; casting and fighting the fish................ Dan
  4. The best reel except for heavy swimbaits. The best rod Pick the model that suits your technique(s). I use the Diablo. Dan

  8. I never do a "hard" hookset except with a swimbait. I use Sugoi hooks, Tex-skin-posed on top of all my soft-plastics and I use a 7' Medium rod with 100% fluro line. Once in a great while, I fish with a young guy and he almosts fall out of the boat when he sets the hook on a T-rigged worm :-/ It's not necessary with the right equipment. A longer(7') rod will give you more leverage for a good hookset, just bringing the rod up and back to just in front of your chest. Dan
  9. ;D I've got 7 LTAs. Go ahead and get that He70MHC Eric and cast and catch all day and you won't get tired or sore! Dan

  11. These are the jigs I use. Now I realize the water temps don't get that low down here but those jigs will work anywhere. They are truly different and for good reason. Dan

  24. My one gripe with my Daiwas is their external, magnetic brake adjustment. When palming them, the knurled knob moves inadvertently some times, changing my setting :-?. Doesn't happen with my Shimanos................. The Daiwa Magforce may be/is more technically advanced but sometimes an answer is created for a non-existent problem . Dan
