Finally a great photo!!!

Featured Replies

Kudo's to Stan. He emailed me this photo he took of me today (12/4)

on Lake Placid. This is a duplicate post from the SE forum, but this pic, was so good and my usual one handed phone shots so poor, I had to post it here with the pic.

Met Stansdwarf8 in Sebring this morning. We fished Lake Placid. Lot's of kissemee grass with some drop off down to 20 feet and more.

the bite was great the catch was good. The bass were stacked way back in the grass and horney toad was the bait, but it was tough hooking them with the wind bowing the line and the nearer grass deflecting the line as well.

We did have fun and boated about 7 up to 3.4 lbs. (sorry but I don't really keep count)

bass were also caught on ribbontail worms, senko, spinnerbait, and lipless crank, so it was diverse.

the big news of course is the one that got away. In this case two.

Each of us lost a hog in the grass.

I took a pic with my cell phone. But it was one of "Avids famous fish head in the shadows" camera phone pix. One of these days, I will learn how to point that thing so the image is centered. Couldn't help the darkeness though, as there was no sun.

Great to be out on the water. This is a beautiful lake. some very scenic areas, and Stan is a down home guy.

All in all it was a great day.

I agree, great picture. Your trip sounds like it was lots of fun. Got me wanting to go tomorrow, real bad!

Beautiful Florida largemouth. The dark fish shows up real good against the light background of your tan shirt.  I need to remember that the next time I try to take a fish picture.  I had some great times fishing for and catching Florida bass with my dad in the 50's on the St. Johns.

So that is what Avid looks like. You have been nothing but a "shady" character since I have been here. LOL  ;D. Great fish Avid. Doesn't really look like a spinning rod you are using, did you give up on the "yankee stick"?

Nope, it's a baitcasting outfit.  Loomis IMX mbr783 w/daiwa tdz.

Haven't given up at all on the spinnng outfit.  As a matter of fact I'm having fun bank fishing with the stradic RW loaned me, and am drooling at the prospect of using the stella he has offered to let me try out at Lake Fork.

I have temporarily put away all my "leftie" baitcasters, so when in a boat I'm casting with the left (good) arm.  My rehab is coming along slowly but surely so next time out I'll use a rod that gets cast with the right hand, probably my avid AS66MXF that I put the stradic on.  I can feather the line coming off of the reel and get some good accuracy.  Casting distance is phenominal with even the lightest of weights.  I guess I'm beginning to see the light.

Excellent!

Great pic and nice fish. I'm so glad you are back on the water.

Congratulations!

LOL,

I was going for the "Jimmy Houston look"

These are cocoons, I need them to fit over my Rx glasses.

I bought these after using the measurement from their website.  I also have the next smaller size but they are a little snug, so I use those for around the neighborhood and the Ray Charles edition for fishing.

I think it makes me look rather distinctive.  Don't you agree?

Great Photo, avid.  And if they make any further sequels to "The Fly" you're assured a place in the casting call.

Sweet bass avid, sounds like you had a great time.

I see the chartruse/white spinnerbait got that one. They work good around here too. You know what they say: "If it aint chartruse it aint no use" ;)

And BTW those sunglasses rock! You should get whittler to airbrush some flames on them or somthing ;) ;D ;D
