Mono for jerkbaits?
Which type of line do you use for jerkbaitin, ive used braid for the last couple of years but I found I lost a few fish last year on the hookset due to zero stretch, the fish would break the line or id rip the hooks out of the fish on the last jerk. according to what ive read mono is ideal for both action and a delay for the hook set, which should help prevent the break offs, as for brands of mono which do you suggest?

Water Temps
I wonder the same thing, I think of it like this- like you said bass spawn when temperatures get in the 60s, and they prefer shallow weedy flats, for this I think we can look at our surface temperatures to get an idea on whether that flat is an area bass would be spawning in bc the surface temperature of a shallow area will give a good indication of the waters temperature. In that shallow area, if that makes sense. Correct me if I'm wrong guys... I tried to get my idea off as best as I could as I'm waiting in the E.R to get a metal shrapnel removed from my eye, great friday night!

Painting a rod
is that even a good idea? will the chemicals in the paint affect the integrity of your rod? most definetly will void warranty, that stuff aside i think youll have a tough time keeping it nice, as soon as u get a few bends in the rod i bet it will start to flake

Ended up going to the sale today, most of the rods were picked over but I managed to find the rod I was looking for, ended up paying 64 bucks for the st.croix premier!! Even cheaper than the flyer said.. Also got a couple spools of power pro for 11 ea

Wrong rod?
yea, ive been using the rod for drop shotting. dragging tubes and throwing some plastics even senkos and its worked fine, i was just confused when i saw the shimano website..
-
Wrong rod?
ah,this one i have has split grip
-
Wrong rod?
well heres the confusing part. if u look at the shimano website they show CRSDX72M 7'2" Medium Extra Fast 6-12 5-30 1/8-3/8 1 2.5" 9.5" Tip+8 A as drop shot rod yet the crsx72m is just a spinning crucial, is there a difference? i guess this is what was throwing me off, just an added letter on the model number or added performance for the drop shot
-
Wrong rod?
I was just looking through my rods when i noticed my shimano crucial rod which i bought 2 years ago before I really understood actions - presentation differences. the rod is a crsx72m which is a shimano crucial 7' 2" medium with an extra fast tip- i went into bass pro looking for a drop shot rod and this was what the sales person sold me. What now... what would you use this rod for? more of a jigging rod for walleye?

Wow throwing my first bait caster is............"fun"
on the same side as the reel handle theres a little threaded cap you can loosen it to the point it comes off and tigthen it till it can move, find the spot that will allow your bait to hit the floor with out back spooling, that helped me a lot

what do you use for finess fishing?
I was reading on Bassmaster article by IKE and he uses 3 types of rods when finess fishing, all spinning and he rates them by their flex 70/30 60/40 80/20. 70/30 being the rod he uses most, 70/30, thats typically a medium fast rod right?
