  1. Just wondering what some of you are using when it comes to finess fishing / weightless rod setups? Spinning/ casting, Line, Reel retrieves, Rod Length, blank/ taper etc don
  2. On one of my favorite lakes there's one spot that always holds fish, a submerged concrete dock. Its like clock work, two fish off it each time, but often times ill make 5-10 cast for the first fish then have to make another 20 for the other, if I don't get him ill let's the spot rest for half hour and hit it again
  3. Hahah, well summers here are warm so we keep very busy with ac, and we look after some fitness centers that we need to keep cool all year, nice scenery in there!
  4. Self employed been in the business for 5 years now. Wish I lived down south where the roof tops are warm and inviting, not cold and bitter like here in toronto lol
  5. Well... ST CROIX here i come lol thanks for the reassurance lol
  6. I'm going crazy here trying to pick a rod... I told everyone I could get the premier st.croix rods for 35% off, so reg price 140 ( top end) for 91 bucks now, then I came across the new line of carrot stix micro for 99 what would you do?! I've never used either but I've heard lots of good about both.. The rods I need are.. Weightless plastic rod and a jerkbait, which manufacturer would you go with?
  7. thats a great idea, and so simple using the cutter on the dental floss box, definetly going to start carrying it with me on the boat
  8. see for me up to now ive been using a spinning rod for jerkbaits until i sent the half of my two piece rod into the water and couldnt retrieve it, i was perfectly comfortable with using spinning tackle, as for casting accuracy i do see an advantage in casting, but as for distance and ability to throw smaller baits and a better drag when fishing light line i keep coming back to spinning tackle...
  9. definetly going to do so jason, actually the place is in hamilton, i noticed you were president of the hamilton chapter.. dont know if u had a chance to read my response in the internation thread, i just saw yours now
  10. hey jason sorry for the delayed response i havent checked this thread in a while, yea its really too bad our season is so short but its for a good reason i guess lol. well usually spend most my time fishing sparrow lake, gloucester pool, rice lake, bays of simcoe
  11. thanks zero, well the sale starts on monday so after work ill be heading up with an empty truck bed hahah thanks for the replys everyone
  12. you guys getting me all excited now hahaha, its a small place about an hour from toronto, they also have some other crazy sales going on, 10 bucks for 10-50 lb power pro 150 yard spools, 13 bucks for gulp alive buckets, 7 dollar xrap10s,5.77 for senkos, and more hey whets how does the upgrade program work??
  13. Sounds like a deal I can't pass up! How do the st.croix premier rods compare to the mojo basss rods? Better or worse?
  14. As you know I've been making some post regarding my search for a new rod setup- this morning I came across a flyer showing st.croix premier rods going on sale for 35% off, I've never used a st.croix rod and was wondering what you have to say about them, keeping mind they're the premiers, I'd probably pick up a 6'6 m f for jerkbaiting and a spinning for weightless plastic/ finess, what do you think at that price?
  15. Thanks gentlemen, i think I'm going to give baitcasting a whirl
  16. Im trying to figure out what kind of rod/reel would be best for throwing jerkbaits, ive come across lots of information but i havent narrowed it down yet. Another option im struggling with is either casting or spinning tackle? why and why not.. In some of my research ive found that a jerkbait rod should be similar of a crankbait rod, what do you think?
  17. x2 on the stradic, u can pick one up from ebay around 130
  18. wheres the best place to pick up one of these citoris? i see bps online has them for 100
  19. i cant find a currado for cheaper then 200 on ebay for 20 bucks more id do it, but 99-200 a big difference - retract that i was looking on the canadian ebay, i found on ebay.com currado e for 149 w/ free shipping and citica e for 89 w/ free shipping, lets have a vote lol
  20. hey jfranco, im also in the process of selecting a new reel.. the citica e at 119 vs the currado e at 179 ( bps online pricing) would u hands down spring for the extra money and go to t he curado or is it not necessary? i have a chronarch and 2 currados which i love and a cruixus that is mediocre, where does the citica range between the cruixus and currado?
  21. just passing on what i heard at the spring fishing show, i didnt have any experience using it myself , thanks for the heads up tho... i use power pro green myself and ill run a sharpie marker at it, about a foot or so when it starts to fade
  22. thank you sir, as i was reading it i was thinking man makes a lot of sense but what about bite detection lol
  23. hello again, ive been watching a lot of videos and reading articles and the carolina rig continues to pop up, here in toronto the carolina rig is something i dont hear of very often. Texas is the primiary use of throwing plastics if not whacky or weedless, i myself have never used carolina also... what are some pros and cons to the carolina and what makes it so special? any baits u feel that really excel with the carolina rig? Primarily for deep water? etc thanks everyone
