  1. I went out one last time before winterizing the boat sunday air temp- 50 degrees and water temp was 43, 12 mph winds, and overcast. The days prior to were in the low 40s and high 30s. I fished main lake drop offs, points, shoals and some shallow water near deep water. My only fish was a smallie around 2lbs coming off a shoal in 9ft water in close proximity to water dropping off to 20 ft or so- drop shotting a swimbait. I hit several other spots similar to this one trying to duplicate the pattern with zero success. I marked many schools of fish all around 14-25 ft of water which im assuming were bass, just couldnt get one to bite- jerk baits, senkos, jigs, swimbaits, cranks, spinners you name it a friend and I were throwing it. We put in a solid 8 hours of fishing too, I dont know what was off that day but it definitly didnt get the happy ending I was looking for. What would you have done? Anyone wanna take a stab at what was going on? Weather maybe?
  2. we should get a game going with all the bass resource members lol! my brother has xbox and he just got the game yesterday, ill have to kick his **** off and play
  3. heres a the coordinates of the lake, if you punch it in to acme mapper N 44.40043 W 79.43665.. the bay is k3mp3nfe3lt
  4. Its not always that crowded but it is pressured.. other areas are difficult for exploring, this is a bay the main lake gets very rough at times.
  5. theres a large body of water thats not too far from home where the smallies rule. Gin clear and deep. fish are being caught anywhere from 25 to 80' deep right now on many different techniques.. dragging tubes, drop shotting, jerkbaits. all on finesse gear. Its a large body of water but this time of year the fish congregate in areas that are heavily pressured. its not uncommon to be fishing rod length away from other boats. what kind of tactics do you like to use on these smallies in this type of situation? large fish are being caught also.. 7lb smallies are not uncommon.
  6. last weekend I went out to do some fishing on a favorite lake of mine, usually a 4 lber is a solid fish here.. seldomly seen anything bigger. On my way back in to the ramp the gov't worker who operates the swing bridge told me some guy in a ranger boat was up river at the locks fishing with a minnow harness and he caught an 8 and 9 pound smallie.. it could be bs but ive spoke to this guy many times and hes given me some spots and tips so i dont think he was shooting it. whats your experience with fishing around locks? this time of year especially? its a lock at the end of a river connecting one lake with the other... the river goes for quite some time before entering either main lake though. part 2 of this post.. i also noticed a couple weeks before on that same lake the water levels were much higher bc of the steady rainfall. i think the ministry had the hydro locks open because the under water current was insane. a 1 oz jig would stay on the bottom as soon as i dropped it in it would rocket off.. i even had a hell of the time with my trolling motor... z6 nitro with a 80 thrust motorguide and i wasnt moving all that much
  7. anyone else watch this amc special??
  8. Big fan of your show Mike! ive never tried sunline but win or lose ill have to give it a shot!
  9. I hear a lot of stories about marriages ending over fishing haha... as for getting bored- never
  10. i managed to pour 4 perfect jigs, and 15 ones that werent fully poured at the trailer barb. i tried heating the mold more and it didnt help. i noticed that my lee melter isnt pouring as fast as it did for the first 4, i may have let it run too low and am wondering if i caused the spout to get plugged up and due to the decreased pouring rate it wont mold that barb properly, is that possible?

  12. I'll be in Fayetteville Tennessee on october 11 for a few days for work I was hoping to sneak off a day and do some bass fishing,What lake would you suggest? Im hoping to get into some good quality fish, here in ontario a big fish a 5 lber and theyre hard to come by. Also does anyone guide on this lake or do you have any guide suggestions. It would be a 1 or half day deal with me and my dad fishing, we wont have any gear either. Thanks , Don.
  13. do it molds, thanks for the breakdown of weight vs hook size
  14. What size hooks are typically used on flipping jigs say 1/4-1/2 oz? 5ot?
  15. Oh and any good tackle shops I should check out for some bass gear?
  16. An pier or area that would be a good spot for me to check out? I brought a med spinning rod with 20 lb braid and a heavy rood with 65 lb braid, just looking to have some fun and catch a few fish, cut mackerel our best bet?
  17. Taking off to cape cod for 4 days with the family and friends, purchased a non resident saltwater fishing license. Anyone from this area?
  18. All I do is flip and pitch weather doesnt change that lol... chigger craws, rage tail craws, 1/2 oz black flipping jigs with zoom chunk catch a lot of fish doing so too
  19. Ive been using the mapper program to look at some lakes in my area that ive been fishing, looking for spots that could be productive so i can eliminate dead water and cut down wasted time. Ive been looking on the map for areas where the main lake channel, river channel or creek channels intersect. Atleast I hope thats what those lines represent haha... they arent contour lines or depth indications just lines that make a path through the lake some coming through a river, some from land ( underground feeder creek?) and some just showing up on the lake without a orgin. Now if I was right with my assumption, from what ive been told these are usually great spots for holding fish, problem is most lakes where these intersections occur theres a lot of boat traffic. Is it a waste of time to fish these spots during high traffic? Would you suggest hitting these spots first thing in the morning when traffic is non existant? thanks, Don
  20. is the sale at dicks going on for still? if so when does it end? im in toronto but it wouldnt be the first time i drove to the walden galleria in buffalo for fishing stuff.
  21. When faced with the challenge of figuring out which style of bait would be best for flipping heavy cover and thick mats I was stuck on a few options.. Craw style bait like the chigger craw, paddle style bait without appendages, or a tube? I was thinking because of the flipping tubes sleek and top heavy design it would probably be best for getting through thick mats. What do you think? does it lack the action once it does make it through?
  22. I spooled up with 25 lb invisix and went out with it a few times and had a lot of trouble keeping the line on the spool. Felt too springy also not the same connection I had with the jig compared to using braid. I even bought some line conditioner to see if it would help with the springyness and the spool jumping. Is this normal
  23. so in theory if you found a hump below the thermocline dont bother fishing it?
  24. how does locating the thermocline help? say im fishing 20' of water with some nice bottom structure, would the presence of a thermocline make this a more favorable location? will a body of water that has a thermocline in one area of the lake also have it another? or would offshore spots with thermocline vs ones that dont be more prosperous? sry for the thread jack x2 lol
