braided line colour loss?
Actually I was just at a fishing show that spoke about this exact problem, here who has the solution, i cast 2010 winner Suffix 832 with gore fibers, its a round line with 32 weaves per inch specifically designed for the fading colours that typical braided lines have, apparently this one WONT fade over use.

Tying a leader to braided line
i use a uni knot, ive never broken off at the knot itself, just make sure you wrap it enough times, for the braided side i usually wrap 4 times or so and the flouro 7 times, lube the sides with your spit and pull tight, sometimes i use a pair of plyers to pull the knot all the way tight. For me the leader breaks before the knot, say a 1 away from the knot...

what do colors imitate
match the hatch, colours do help not only for what we see them as but what the fish see them as in the water at different depths and conditions

Deep water ledges
Typically every year on the water i get out there and hammer the shore line and shallow cover.. at times it can be very productive. Id like to expand my arsenal of tactics and move offshore , particularly ledges. Heres my understanding on a good strategy. Cruise the lake looking for deepwater points with that relate to channels or creeks. -I dont know if this is what i can expect but heres the sceneario that i can use to explain my hypethetical strategy. Say i find that deepwater weedline relating to some deep offshore point-its 50 ft long and the depth ranges from 8-20 ft what i want to do is first see if i can find some key points on this ledge like a rock pile , timber, etc- if not i could try fishing the highest and lowest points of the ledges meaning a drastic inline or decline in bottom contour over a short distance. Am i on the right track here? how else would you start?

Shimano Crucial swimbait rod opinions
im on the tackleware house now, its stressing the fact that these rods are not optimal for light and small swimbaits, the mh would be the way to go for me? using 4-6 inch swimbaits? http://www.***.com/Okuma_Guide_Series_Big_Bait_Casting_Rods/descpage-OGSBBR.html

Shimano Crucial swimbait rod opinions
well this sure opened my eyes to a world of options, i appreciate everyones time for the input. I havent purchased the rod yet but im thinking that the okuma, for price and what you guys are telling me is the way to go, i cant find it on the bps canada website, only the fly fishing rods... ill have to search else where for it, now as far reel ratio what do you suggest? something slow like a 5:2?

I've been watching some videos on the sebile 4" 105 swimbait, looks like an impressive lure, I'm not a big swimbait guy but this year I'd like to give it a shot.. For a bait like this what rod would you suggest?

spring fishing ontario water, need your advice..
Well most of the available reading and information on the net is typically geared towards lakes in the USA and its season for fishing. Here in Ontario, bass doesnt open until the last weekend of June, temperature here can range from 64-78 degrees, not consitently however, but for weeks at a time sometimes. Bass are typically spawning around 60 degrees, so depending on how the spring temperatures are here the bass can be finished their spawn a month before season open. What would your tactics for the open of our Ontario bass season?

setting the hook/releasing the fish....as seen on the fishing shows
i think it comes down to what lure your using and what kind of cover your fishing in as for how hard you should set the hook, for example if your fishing in heavy cover.. or fishing with a plastic bait youve rigged weedless, u want to make sure u get that penetration through your lure to drive the hook home.
