Who said "there's a sucker born every minute"? Just read the goofy things a illegal here in Arizona. Fine by me.
  3. Wow, great fish!

Alabama Rig. Call me undecided, very undecided. Whats after it? j
  5. As mentioned, it's not so much as what's here (though the content is outstanding), it's what's not. That is a tribute to the owners/administrators and moderators. A simple vision that's diligently maintained. Very noticeable. Great interface too. I "belong" to one additional forum, a locally run bass fishing site here in AZ. Requires thick flame resistant garments. Obscene and contentious. Just stupid funny once you develop natural immunity's. No value past getting to know some good local folks and fishing spots. That's important too. j
  6. Never a problem here. Just wet it good.
  7. "Googled" and found this. Could be what you're looking for. http://www.americanriverfishing.com/mississippi/mississippiboard/viewtopic.php?t=107 Another post on that thread said to keep a knife handy. Sound advise IMO. Jim
  8. I really like my Hummingbird Fishin' Buddy 120. http://store.humminbird.com/products/271365/120_Fishin%27_Buddy The "side looking" feature is actually pretty cool. I paid under $200 for mine including tax at Bass Pro. Not a full featured high end unit but it fills the bill perfectly for me. Jim
  9. Good stuff everyone. Bigbill, Great post! Thanks. Jim
  10. These are easy for me to tie and they work. Here's additional info: http://www.basspro.com/StandOut&-x2122;-Hooks/product/58058/122047?hvarAID=shopping_googlebase&om_mmc=shopping_googlebase
  11. I have used both the Seaguar knot http://www.seaguar.com/seaguar-community/seaguar-knot.htm crazy easy to tie and great for adding a short 3-5' leader. And the Alberto for joining longer ones. Both have performed perfectly for me. Jim
  12. From a nOOb bass fisherman's perspective, not a nOOb business man mind you, all I need to see is the amount of display space tackle shops (big and small) devote to plastics. They WORK, plastic worms especially. Recreational dollars are scarce and getting scarcer. Shops interested in staying around for the long haul can NOT afford to risk limited marketing space to "maybe" items. If we aren't catching, we're not buying either. I have not had much success with the worm, yet. Attention deficit, no question. Someday, someday. Jim
  13. FWIW. Sufix 832 on my baitcasters. I tie on ~6' fluoro leaders for everything except frogs. Fishing, no fiddling. Love it.
  14. Friend and I spent a couple hours throwing lipless and shallow cranks. No pigs. Still had a ton of fun pulling these two in. Jim
  15. You are so pumped you needed to start two identical threads?
  16. In my urban lakes and ponds the "Aaron's Magic" color 4" Robo is a great drop shot worm. I have caught fish with them on a Shakey Head too.
  17. Looks like these are still in the "pre-order" stage. Could be wrong but... Jim
  18. Just took the sport up earlier this year. Been fishing A LOT. And the more I do the more I use the BC. Something over 95% of the time.
  19. Looks like this ones been kicked around some. Here are some links you may find helpful.
  20. I like them a lot. But these things are so subjective. Try them weightless for a hour or two and slither them along the bottom with 10-15 second pauses. Twitch a bit side to side and up and down. If your on the fish they'll buy as long as you're selling right. Make sure that tail has the time to wiggle. Jim
  21. OMG. DANG! I'm gonna take another look a quilting.
  22. I picked up a lot from this article. The man knows his jigs. http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/bass_fishing_jigs.html
  23. This ad popped up this morning from BPS. I know zero about the reel but fer 40$....heck. http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-ProLite-Special-Baitcast-Reel/product/10230856/?cm_sp=COTWProliteReelSept2011_HM Jim
  24. Started bass fishing late this spring. Caught some nice fish on a Z-Man Chatter Bait in Tempe Town Lake, an urban (very urban) body of water. It does NOT lack food. Tons of it. Add shallow water and 110 degree desert heat and you get little interest. Still, these chatter baits generate a good reaction bite before the sun comes up. Good lure in this environment. Jim
  25. I have yet to catch a bass on the basic Senko worm, regardless of how it's rigged. Yet every time I read a post like Ronnie's I am compelled to try again in the morning. Jim
