Using lures the way they were not intended
I've caught bass on shallow running crankbaits while fishing them on the surface like a popper. I'll usually do this along a stretch of water willows that is close to a deep drop off.

Favorite spinnerbait weight and color
I've gotten the most bites this year on a 1/4 oz., chartreuse / white spinnerbait, with double nickle Colorado blades.

Setting The Hook And It Rockets Back At You....?

Lightest Line for Use With Baitcasters.
I have 10# on a SLX-150. I'm pretty sure that rig could handle 8# without any issues.

The only color buzzbait I fish with is one with a white skirt / white blade. If I can't find a bait with a white blade then I'll paint it white.

Back to Basics?
It can be quite relaxing just taking some bobbers, split shots, and small hooks in a small box and go out after bluegill and redears.

Fall Lure Selection
When the weather cools down in fall I start fishing more with moving baits, and less with bottom contact baits.

Pond weeds
Over the years I've found that most types of vegetation will hold fish, but it's not a good idea to try and fish the different types of vegetation the same way. In other words different techniques will work with different types of water plants.

My best catching spinnerbait this year has been a 1/16 ounce single blade. I fish it on 6# line and if I don't get bites on that I call it a day.

The only fishing related items that I keep in my car is a pair of Muck boots and a rain suit.

Holding a spinning rod
Finally figured it out. One behind and three in front. I don't think about how I hold the rod. I just hold it so it's comfortable.

Light Texas rig-bead or no bead?
I don’t think I have ever used a bead on a Texas rig.

Accidental Dead-sticking
There has been a few times when I’ve got a backlash worked out of the spool just to discover that a bass has picked up my bait and had gone off with it. Probably the worst one was when the bass started pulling before I had the backlash out.
