  1. I've caught bass on shallow running crankbaits while fishing them on the surface like a popper. I'll usually do this along a stretch of water willows that is close to a deep drop off.
  2. I've gotten the most bites this year on a 1/4 oz., chartreuse / white spinnerbait, with double nickle Colorado blades.
  3. I would be pitching a jig in the holes and along the outside edges.
  4. Welcome to the forums.
  5. It seems like it happens most when the bass are short striking the bait. Keeps me on my toes.
  6. I have 10# on a SLX-150. I'm pretty sure that rig could handle 8# without any issues.
  7. I still do some maintenance like replacing the battery, and changing filters. For oil changes and I take it in the shop. I bought the tires at the same place and they will rotate them for free.
  8. The only color buzzbait I fish with is one with a white skirt / white blade. If I can't find a bait with a white blade then I'll paint it white.
  9. I fish the same baits all year long including worms and jigs.
  10. It can be quite relaxing just taking some bobbers, split shots, and small hooks in a small box and go out after bluegill and redears.
  11. When the weather cools down in fall I start fishing more with moving baits, and less with bottom contact baits.
  12. The strangest thing I've ever ran across night fishing are those dang tree limbs that came up behind me and kept grabbing the bait as I was making a cast. I got tired of picking out backlashes and left.
  13. Welcome to the forums.
  14. Over the years I've found that most types of vegetation will hold fish, but it's not a good idea to try and fish the different types of vegetation the same way. In other words different techniques will work with different types of water plants.

Years ago we used to go fishing with a doctor. He would use an old hypodermic needle to inflate the nightcrawlers. These days I wouldn't think of having one of those in my tackle bag.
  16. My best catching spinnerbait this year has been a 1/16 ounce single blade. I fish it on 6# line and if I don't get bites on that I call it a day.
  17. I've caught bass while fishing plastic worms and senkos fast so they stays up on the surface during the retrieve.
  18. Congratulations on the new PB.
  19. The only fishing related items that I keep in my car is a pair of Muck boots and a rain suit.
  20. Finally figured it out. One behind and three in front. I don't think about how I hold the rod. I just hold it so it's comfortable.
  21. I don’t think I have ever used a bead on a Texas rig.
  22. This summer and fall when it rains I’ve been doing pretty good.
  23. There has been a few times when I’ve got a backlash worked out of the spool just to discover that a bass has picked up my bait and had gone off with it. Probably the worst one was when the bass started pulling before I had the backlash out.
