  1. My workhorse is an affordable and dependable reel that can be called upon to fish a variety of different baits and presentations.
  2. This time of year I'm using an original floating minnow in either the 2" or 2-3/4" size.
  3. I've used a lot of lipless baits over the years and my top producer is a Cordell spot either in chrome / blue or copper craw.
  4. Baitmonkey has been whispering in my ear that it's time to retire my older spinning reels and get new ones. I liked it better when it told me to go out and buy a beetlespin.
  5. Daiwa Tatulas. One for jigs, one for t-rigs, and one for large moving baits.
  6. Hang in there. Around here it was like someone flipped a switch and all the bass disappeared.
  7. Welcome to Bass Resource.
  8. I'll be fishing a 6" worm weightless or on a split shot rig.
  9. Been there. I've smiled all the way home that I caught a 10" bass and got the skunk out of the boat.
  10. I'd be casting past the target where I think the fish are then bring the bait toward it. If you're fishing with a diving crankbait that floats you can hold off on the retrieve until the water around the bait settles back down like fishing a topwater.
  11. Nope. Not for me. I've got plenty to do with rods, reels, and tackle.
  12. The bait I start out with depends on what type of cover and structure is in the water I'm fishing. Sometimes I get lucky and choose the right bait. Other times I'm changing baits until I find what they want.
  13. Swim jigs Lipless Crankbait Crankbait Plastic Worm Senko
  14. Bass aren’t the only fish that will feed on crappie. Last year I had a good size channel cat swim under my boat with a crappie in it’s mouth.
  15. I was always taught that big baits catch big bass so the first time I really fished for bass with small baits was after joining this forum.
  16. Last two nights the weather has gotten down in the upper 20's here. Weekend is suppose to warm back up into the 60's. Looks like I will be fishing the deep ponds this weekend.
  17. Very sad. RIP Aaron.
  18. I can see that snagging in brush piles and tearing apart, and fishing it around weeds is probably quite a chore. I think I'll stick to a t-rig.
  19. Glad you made it back in one piece. I started to get a little anxious when I read that you were using the trolling motor to get back on.
  20. Some years I have caught a lot of bass on small baits, and other years I have seen the bass ignore small baits in favor of larger baits. Sometimes it's not about the bait at all, but about the location and presentation. You just have to keep casting until a pattern develops.
  21. You may have won the battle, but the war continues.
  22. This bass really wanted my spinnerbait and choked it when he hit. I had to go in through the gills to get the hook out.
  23. Most of the ponds and small lakes I fish had a lot of vegetation this year. Later in the summer it seemed to get thicker, but that may be to the water levels dropping some.
  24. When the bass want a spinnerbait around here it's usually slow rolled along the bottom, or just up off the bottom.
