  1. Wow you had quite the day.
  2. I hope all goes well.
  3. My wife is usually still asleep when I leave to go fishing. One morning, while she was still half asleep, she says don't come home until you've caught one on a jig. Around 3 PM my wife calls wondering where I am and when I will be home. I told her what she said, but she didn't remember any of it.
  4. Fishing hands down.
  5. I only have one super sonic left. Lost the rest pond fishing around 30 years ago. Around here a white sonic with a red head was quite the fish catching bait.
  6. One time after I had just put new line on I walked from the living room, down the stairs into the basement, and out into the garage. When I set the rod down I realized that I had a free spool. I had a huge backlash, and about 50 feet of line strung out through the house.
  7. I fish chatterbaits on a med heavy / fast, but the rod actually feels more like a med heavy / med. I think of chatterbaits as a moving bait, so I will fish it on the same rod I use for lipless cranks, and large crankbaits.
  8. When I fish a wacky rig I watch the line close. I cast out the bait a couple of times to get a feel of how the line is going to come off of the open spool. After I cast out for real, I keep my hand on the bail just in case the line starts acting funny. If the line starts coming off faster or it stops then I throw the bail and set the hook. Basically I fish it like a jig when it's falling.
  9. I've had good luck this year with a Zara puppy fished around weed mats on the surface. I've been using the bone color.
  10. I usually don't replace the stock hooks unless I have some experience with the baits, and I know the stock hooks are junk. I will sharpen the hooks on a new bait just to make sure they are sharp.
  11. I think it depends a lot on where you are fishing and what you are using for bait. Earlier this year if I was fishing where everyone else was fishing near boat ramps and parking lots, then I don't think I would have done well. The nice bass I was able to catch this year came areas that were not getting fished much.
  12. I would be fishing with a jig and craw, Texas rig plastic, and some kind of moving bait. Probably a shallow running crankbait or a chatterbait.
  13. I've only been catching one or two bass each trip since the start of Sept. My only good day was right after Labor Day when the temps back up into the low 90's.
  14. 1973 Chevy Nova two door coupe. Antique white over light metallic green. Mom and dad bought it new and got a good deal on it since they bought it during the first gas embargo. I started driving it when I was 16 because my mom hated driving a stick in traffic.
  15. Black / Blue Grape Watermelon Green Pumpkin Chartreuse Pumpkin I think that’s about it for this year.
  16. Favorite bait is a 3/8 jig and craw. Favorite worm would be a 4" finesse worm on a split shot rig.
  17. Zoom Super Hog Zoom Fluke Zoom Finesse Worm BPS 6" Stiko BPS 3" Stiko Zoom UltraVibe Speedcraw Zoom Speedcraw Creme 6" Scoundrel Worm Zoom Baby Brush Hog GY 4" Senko
  18. A couple of years ago I caught a spool of mono. The label was worn off of it so I'm not sure what kind it was. Last year I hooked an 8 lb mushroom anchor by the anchor line, and no it wasn't my anchor.
  19. Write it down in the fish log. I know a lot of guys only log their catches, but I make an entry even when I get skunked. When you look at it later, you may see something that stands out.
  20. Welcome to the forums.
  21. Welcome back!
  22. This year it's a Zara puppy, 3/8 jig and craw, and a 4" finesse worm on a split shot rig.
  23. That's a nice one!
