  1. I never touched the 4lb mark this year, but my largest bass were all caught on jig and craws.
  2. I like a reel with around a gear ratio of around 7:1, and about 30 ipt, for for jigs, and bottom contact baits. The only reason I like that speed is to take up slack when the fish is swimming right at me. For topwater baits I want a slower retrieve so I'm not moving the bait a whole lot when I reel in slack.
  3. This years additions. Not pictured: One 20lb mushroom anchor, about 30 bobbers, and 2 stringers.
  4. This year I lost mostly jigs. Runners up would be Texas rigged plastics, paddle tail swimbaits, and lipless crankbaits.
  5. You can catch fish on them, but a big fish will tear them up.
  6. I got gift cards from my wife, and brother in law. Everything else was clothing.
  7. Christmas Eve on the lake. Probably the last time on the water before spring.
  8. Merry Christmas Bass Resource!
  9. Just followed!
  10. Some real nice size crappie right there.
  11. I start off fishing over the tops of the weeds. If I’m not getting any takers I’ll start moving toward other cover or structure.
  12. Jigs: Curado 200E7 with 15# mono on a St. Croix 6’6” mh/f Premier. Heavy t-rigs, weightless flukes, and weightless senkos: Revo-s with 15# mono on a St. Croix 6’6” mh/f premier. Light t-rigs, split shot, weightless worms: Pflueger president w/ 10# mono on Daiwa 6’6” m/f procaster rod. Moving baits 1/4 ounce to about 1/8 ounce: Pflueger president w/ 10# mono on a Daiwa 6’6” m/f procaster rod. Heavy moving baits over 3/8 ounce: Daiwa Tatula CT100H w/ 15# mono on one of the old 7’0” mh/f BPS Tourney Special rods. Drop shot and panfish: Pflueger president w/ 6# mono on a 7’0” ml/f BPS Microlite rod. Punch rig: Abu 5600C3 w/ 50# braid on a very old Daiwa 6’6” h/f procaster rod.
  13. Keep yourself covered from the sun. You can still get a sunburn in winter.
  14. Nice bass. I love fishing when there is snow on the ground.
  15. I’ll probably get out for a few hours on Christmas Eve. Visiting family on Christmas Day.
  16. I’ve never fished with a Ned rig, and before this year I had never fished with a split shot rig for bass.
  17. I use Strike King 3/8 bitsy flip jigs for just about everything. They don’t break the bank when you lose one.
  18. I have two 6935's and one 6930. The 35's are going on 9 years old and have never had a single issue. Very sorry to hear this.
  19. Last year I got a Tatula CT100H with the intention of using it for fishing t-rigs, and weightless plastics like senkos. After fishing with the reel for a couple of months I started using it for moving baits instead of plastics. It seems to be working just fine with baits 1/4 to 1/2 ounce.
  20. If I can't catch a bass on a Zoom finesse worm, I go home.
  21. See more than one doctor. Years ago I woke up with a bulging disk in my back that I thought was going to kill me. The first doctor I went to was ready to schedule me for surgery. I went to see a second doctor and he said I could have strained my back and that is why the disk was bulging. He prescribed pain killers and anti-inflammatory meds. A couple of days later the swelling was down and I was feeling fine again.
  22. First thing I do is to cast out a short distance so I can see the bait on the bottom. I start dragging it back and watching it so I can see how it is moving. If I think it is moving too fast, then I slow down the retrieve. After I find a speed I like, I start fishing for real.
  23. Nice bass! Way to go!
  24. Gift cards so I can make sure Santa gets me the correct items. ?
