  1. Sometimes it is about how the bass are feeding. If they are aggressive, they could swallow the bait, and if they want to run back to cover with the bait then the bass might be barely hooked in the mouth.
  2. Don't get hung up on fishing a worm the same way all the time. Sometimes I won't get a bite on a Texas rigged worm at all. If that happens I will re-rig the worm on a split shot rig, or weightless.
  3. Congratulations!!!
  4. Around here the dinks tend to leave the larger straight tail worms alone. So I pay real close attention if I'm fishing an 8" grape jellyworm and I get a bite.
  5. My three go to colors are shad, firetiger, or crawfish. Which one I use depends on water clarity, and the amount of cloud cover.
  6. I have the transition lenses in my bifocals. They're constantly adjusting to the light levels, and I don't have to worry about losing them since I never take them off.
  7. For me it's about the traveling on the water, the challenge of figuring out the fish, but mostly it's about leaving everything behind for a few hours, or a few days, and clearing my mind.
  8. Man, terrible news.
  9. ^^^ This. I use to use Yozuri Hybrid line, but the stores around me don't carry it any longer, and the few times I tried to buy it online, the sites were on backorder.
  10. They'll need to be careful in killing off that vegetation. If that lake is shallow and the vegetation is supplying oxygen in the heat of the summer, they could be looking at a fish kill in the when the water heats up.
  11. In the water that I fish I’d go with crankbait, chatterbait, and spinnerbait in that order.
  12. Last June I was chased off the water twice by thunderstorms. Back in July I had a thunderstorm form over me, but by the time it was strong enough to do anything, it had moved past my location.
  13. I have 2 smaller tackle bags that I keep extra plastics in. Each year around New Year's I go through and take a count of what's inside my main tackle bag, and make a shopping list of what I need to replace. I usually find about 1/4 of my shopping list in those other 2 bags.
  14. When I use a drop shot it’s usually baited with a Zoom finesse worm. If the bass are not wanting that , I will use a BPS 3” stik-o.
  15. We use to bait ours with cut bait. Usually shad or sunfish. Caught a lot of catfish and more than a few turtles.
  16. I've got my reels cleaned, lures have replacement hooks where needed, tackle box is organized for pre-spawn, and early spring. I even have my panfish rig ready to go. Now I'm just watching YouTube videos until it warms up a bit.
  17. Probably 2 or 3 inches. I've never really noticed before.
  18. I use both colors for jigs and t-rigged baits. Sometimes the bass want jigs, and sometimes they want the plastic baits. I just have to figure out which bait.
  19. So very sorry for your loss. You and yours are in our thoughts and prayers.
  20. The DSG near me has always been pitiful when it comes to a decent fishing dept. This store has been catering to runners, joggers and fitness center members ever since they opened.
  21. I usually catch bluegill, crappie, catfish, carp, hybrids, and an occasional muskie while bass fishing. Last year I seemed to be catching warmouth on every trip.
  22. I don’t get to fish for smallies that often so for largemouth I’m going to say a jig and craw.
  23. I have a city park about 2 miles from my house, and a state conservation spot about 20 miles away. Unfortunately both of those places see some very heavy pressure. The closest reservoir size lake would be between 2-1/2 and 3 hours away depending on which one I am heading to.
