  1. I retie when my line is roughed up from dragging the bait across a sharp surface. When I snag and have to break the line, I always cut off maybe a foot of line in case it was stretched.
  2. This year it happened a couple of months ago during a heavy downpour. I caught 17 bass in a little under 6 hours. They were all about a pound, but I had a blast.
  3. You didn't get skunked and you got some good pics.
  4. I started going fishing with my Dad when I was about 7. He would cat fish and I would fish for pan fish. Sometime in the late 80's we switched over to bass fishing.
  5. The biggest bass I ever saw was about 10 years ago. My Dad and I went out in the boat and he hooked one that started to turn the boat around. My first thought was that he hooked a muskie or a carp. When he got it close to the boat the fish went along side the boat, and I leaned over to net it. I was so shocked that I forgot all about the net. That bass was as long as my Dad's torso, and it looked healthy. The bass splashed hit the boat and was gone. I don't know if he told anyone about that bass, but I sure didn't. I'm hoping that there are some bass in that lake like that one.
  6. If I can't get through the mat, I like to work a weightless senko or fluke across the top of it. Let it fall into the low spots and holes in the weeds, and give it a couple of jerks.
  7. You guys caught some nice smallies!
  8. My average size is between 1 and 2 pounds. I fish lakes with a lot of dinks in them.
  9. I like to pitch into cover and then hop it or drag it out slow. If I don't get bites I slow roll it back in like a spinnerbait.
  10. A black and blue jig. It works year round.
  11. That is a healthy looking bass, nice going!
  12. Last time I went when we had rain it was just a drizzle, but I killed them on a white buzz bait.
  13. Don't take a credit card to BPS or Cabela's.
  14. Our computer got fried a couple of years ago from a nearby lightning strike. Now when it storms out, everything gets unplugged from the receptacles. I even unplug the data line leading into the computer.
  15. Usually start in the morning before sunup. I stay out until mid afternoon if they are biting, and I don't have anything pending.
  16. The last time my wife went fishing with me it was 24 years ago and she caught a turtle.
  17. I was not planning to catch a new PB that day. I just put on a bait that had worked in that body of water before, and I was hoping not to get skunked.
  18. Usually I can go through November unless we get some kind of freak cold front. With any luck I can get in a couple of days in Dec.
  19. R.I.P. RM.
  20. This time of year I go bigger. I have had days when the bass just would not hit a small bait. I like to start off with a 3/8 and go up in size from there.
  21. Good going! Fishing with frogs is a blast!
  22. Probably jig and pig/pork. I started fishing it about 9 years ago. I could kick myself for all of those times in the bait store when I looked at a jig and then put it back on the rack.
