  1. Congrats! Nice looking bass!
  2. Could have been something in the water that stayed on the fish.
  3. If I am down to my last bait I will heat a knife and stick it into the fluke to melt it back together. It doesn't make the bait brand new, but it will work for a few more fish.
  4. I started out catching whatever would bite. Switched to cat fishing when I got older, and found there was a lot of sitting and waiting. With bass fishing you are doing something all the time. You are actively looking for the fish, and not waiting for them to find you.
  5. I couldn't believe it when I heard it. I became a fan of his when Mork and Mindy was on tv. R.I.P. Robin.
  6. Years ago we were fishing for cat in a shallow clear pond. Basically sight fishing because you could see all of the bottom except out toward the middle where it got deeper. I was using dough bait and I cast out maybe 15 feet. After a couple of minutes I see this cat coming toward the bait and I get ready for a bite. Well then there is this big splash right over my bait and I think that the cat has hooked itself. I reel it in and there is a bass on my line about a foot long. I have heard of other species hitting bass lures, but that was the first time I ever had a bass hit cat bait.
  7. I switch to a jig or a t-rig.
  8. I have only caught 2 bass on spinnerbaits since it got hot here. Its like somebody flipped a switch or something. I'm hoping it will pick back up in the fall.
  9. Careful, you might get a strongly worded letter from some of the bait and tackle makers.
  10. Some nice smallies right there!
  11. On the day I caught my PB it was 75 degrees when we got out on the water at 5:30 AM. I caught two bass that day before the heat drove us off of the lake around 10:00 AM. I didn't think we would catch anything since it was so hot out.
  12. Missouri, Illinois, and Arkansas.
  13. I wonder how one is trained for a job like that???
  14. It's a water snake. Sometimes when you have a boat beached on the shore they will crawl under it. A real wake up call in the morning when you push the boat back out into the water.
  15. Both. I have caught some pitching into the weeds along the bank, and I have caught some dragging along the bottom in 15 to 20 feet of water. It just depends on where the bass are located.
  16. I can't tell if bigger baits mean bigger bass or not. The green sunfish won't leave the lure alone.
  17. I always take along an extra rig and leave it in the boat or car. That way if a reel breaks down I have an extra.
  18. Nice bass!
  19. You can catch anything on those little jigs. They are a great way to break up the day.
  20. Good going, there isn't anything like jig fishing!
  21. Pictures are the way to go.
