  1. Sometimes the benefits just outweigh the risks.
  2. If I am fishing a crankbait then I fan cast. I usually cast down the bank on both sides and then move toward the center out in front of me. If I am fishing a jig or t-rig then I target cover that I can reach from the bank.
  3. Boats are done for the year. They have removed the boats from the ramps. #16 is a good lake, #31 has a lot of little ones in it, and the last time I checked, #32 was closed because of a fish kill that happened last year. The MDC website has trout stocking schedules on it.
  4. I haven't bought anything in a couple of months, but I am making a Christmas list. I can't believe how long it is. Once I started adding items to it I couldn't stop. If I don't get a lot of gift cards as presents I am going to be broke.
  5. I always wanted to be rich so I wouldn't have to work. I don't see either one of those things happening in the near future.
  6. Sounds about right.
  7. Good job! Nice looking bass!
  8. I bought some chatterbaits when they first came out, didn't have any luck with them, and they have been pretty much on the bottom of the bait list over the years. I went out Saturday morning to walk the bank on a pond that I haven't fished yet this year. The temps were in the mid 40's, and the water was ice cold to the touch. There was a green pumpkin chatterbait in my tackle box so I tied it on and added a green pumpkin/blue trailer. I cast out into the deep part of the pond and was slow rolling the bait back when I hooked a 3-09 bass. It was the only one of the day. I'm definitely going to have to use chatterbaits more when I fish.
  9. Nice bass and a nice looking lake.
  10. One March I was out and realized that my license had expired. I put the gear back into the car and drove over to the local bait shop to buy a new license.
  11. Any lake that has a lot of fishing pressure.
  12. I am pretty accurate when I cast, but there are times when I can't hit a spot by casting at it. The only way I can get under a low hanging bush is by pitching the bait to it. Pitching is a tool, and you don't want to limit yourself by not having the right tools to fish with.
  13. I went to BPS on Black Friday a few years ago. I still have nightmares about it.
  14. Some granola bars, peanuts, and water. If I'm going to be out for a long time I'll take a turkey sandwich.
  15. I can't wait for March. I think this is going to be a long winter.
  16. Black jig and craw, or a black Jitterbug are my favorites.
  17. This year I have done better on 3/8 black jigs, with a blue trailer, in murky water. In clear water I did good with a 1/8 jig in green and brown.
  18. Purple plastic worms, green pumpkin tubes, black or black/blue jigs, white pearl flukes, and firetiger crankbaits.
  19. Man, you have some nice bass right there!
  20. I like channel cat, crappie, and bluegill. Usually only fish for them once or twice a year. Most of the time when I fish I catch and release bass.
  21. Light snow here, but what we have on the ground is melting. Luckily the temp is 34 and this stuff is not sticking.
  22. Buzz baits. Over the years I have fished them maybe once or twice a year, but only until I thought of another bait to use. This year I decided I was going to fish the bait correctly, and it paid off. Now I will be using them right along side my frog.
  23. I would just start out with a few different brands and go from there. Play around with them and see which ones you like better.
