  1. I'm still using the same line on my baitcasters that I put on earlier this year. I've had to put line on my spinning reels twice this year so far.
  2. I have two old H/F rods that see action every so often when I fish in very thick grass. Both are like pool sticks. One is used for punching and the other has a frog tied on.
  3. A purple plastic worm outfishes a sapphire worm, but a sapphire jig outfishes a purple jig. I gave up trying to figure it out long ago. Now I just go with it.
  4. I fish a 3/0 as well.
  5. I caught a skinny bass last year on a plastic worm. As I was lifting it up the bass fell off of the hook, but it just lay there. It didn't move or flop around. When I picked it up I saw that it had a large puncture wound behind its head. I guess a heron tried to eat it at some point.
  6. I fish with the BPS Stiko and Yum Dinger, usually in the 3 or 4 inch size. Where I'm fishing determines if I use them or not.
  7. Some years back I put out an old lawn mower that was in pretty bad shape. You had to baby it to start it, and the only way to turn it off was to pull the wire off of the spark plug. I put it out for trash and about 30 minutes later this guy stops and asks me if he can take it. I told him sure, but it will need some work.

I'm glad the swelling went down and didn't get bigger. That could have been bad.
  9. My dad used to have a 12' deep V boat. Ain't no way I'd put that in anything bigger than a pond.
  10. Can you say HAWGS!!
  11. Happy Anniversary!
  12. Normally four rigs will do it for me. Six rigs if I bring the ML, and UL.
  13. Don't overthink it. There could be a number of reasons why the bass don't want a hopped jig.
  14. I feel like I have more options bank fishing. When I fish a small lake out of a boat, that is where I will be fishing all day regardless of how the bass are biting. When I fish from the bank then I move about every hour to an hour and a half until find them. Sometimes I will move to an entirely different body of water. I also have more time to fish from the bank since I'm not having to take time to load or trailer a boat.
  15. Everything else being equal, I would fish that flooded timber along the steep bank, and along the river bed.
  16. Wow! Glad everyone is OK.
  17. Not every lake has big bass in it. I think it is more important to learn and be able to adapt to the conditions during any given trip so that you can catch the bass that are available in the lake.
  18. I still fish with a Cordell Big-o and 1/4 spot. The lures are still in production but the colors I fish with are not.
  19. I always start off with a worm rigged weightless. If the bass don't want that then I add a split shot.
  20. I like to use black & blue for murky water. Junebug is for clear water and cloudy days.
  21. Those jigs look really sharp.
  22. Ouch! I put my first phone, a small flip phone, in my shirt pocket and didn't think about it again until I leaned over the boat and it fell in. After that, I always keep the phone in my front pants pocket.
  23. For 3/8 and heavier I would fish a mh/f, for around 1/4 I would fish with a m/f or m/m.
  24. Everything that @ol'crickety said. I've noticed that when we have a stretch of really hot weather then the bite on top is dead. It doesn't matter the time of day.
