  1. Caught plenty. Couple years back my friend flipped his 10 foot Jon loaded with 6 people (very stupid) and last year I was able to snag up one of his combos a cheap bps spinning rod and a shimano sedona. The Sedona still works.
  2. I bought a GLX and an IMX both in the flea market on this site for great deals. I still own the IMX but not the GLX. There wasnt much of a difference sensitivity wise between them with braided line but I prefer the IMX because it feels more crisp and "alive" in my hands.
  3. With the added weight of a deck I would want to be trailering the boat. But then you might as well get the 1542
  4. I have a tracker 1542 it'll lean with two people standing on one side but not really shaky. A bass raider or similar boat is very stable for its size I've tried tipping my old one and it didn't happen.
  5. Check out tinboats.net they have this stuff and anything else you can think of for these boats.
  6. Unless I am trying to bomb a lure for distance or casting 20 foot distances I like to use the same power in my casts and just control the line with my thumb to either let it keep going or to stop it.
  7. I agree with some of the above posts boating is half the fun. If I fish from shore its in the canal in my backyard and I usually don't stay more than 25 minutes.
  8. Plenty of guys do it, but its really not the smart way to do it economically. Even if I had the money I wouldn't do it.
  9. I would get a Jon boat and make it a bassboat. I bought a tracker 1542 and am about to get the deck on it during the holidays. You can get the boat motor trailer etc all at once and then slowly build it into what you want it to be. You may even be able to find a tracker grizzly ready to go for less than your budget. Aluminum boats like these are pretty cheap and easy to maintain and wont suck gas towing or when you're on the lake. They can also be stored easily which is another benefit. I wouldn't do it differently if I had the chance, its a great way to learn the whole boating thing.
  10. I currently use 40# braid on everything, I hardly ever lose fish on crankbaits no more than I do with mono. In fact I catch peacock bass (way more fighting and jumping) on braid with very small trebles again haven't lost a peacock ever accept for once with mono. I believe you can do well with any line you choose for almost any application if you know what you're doing. I would however say no to flouro and top water.
  11. I didn't like the rod personally, it felt too whippy. Then again I like heavy power rods for a lot of my fishing.
  12. I was literally just coming here to post about this but you beat me to it. I would like to see the opinions of other members with more knowledge than I have.
  13. There was a thread on here a while ago about people swapping the head for more power. If you can do that I'm sure you can do it just as a repair. If you can find the thread I believe there was a link.

Starting to not regret lifting my jeep lately with the prices I think I paid 2.72 last week
  15. 1500 is a joke I got my 2014 15 horse for 1800 brand new with a warranty
  16. I caught a couple peas on Friday pretty surprising considering the cold front. I did get skunked when it comes to bass though.
  17. He was my middle school teacher (Emerald Cove Middle) I don't believe the autopsy report had been released.
  18. I am also in the market for a cover for my jon the best I've found so far is a tarp with holes I string a rope through the holes and go under the trailer and tie it together. Water still puddles a bit on the tarp but it's better than nothing.
  19. I have a tracker 1542 IMO 42" bottom is plenty stable I can have two people standing on bench seats moving around without an issue I would get a riveted boat just for the weight and price I think I got mine tax tag title and trailer everything registered for under 2,200 at bps
  20. Went out to lox and caught one dink that's an improvement believe it or not
  21. would you recommend trying the flats or sticking to the main canal?
  22. How's lox doing this time of year? I'm still new to having a boat and was looking for some tips for fishing there. Also what do you guys do if you see a storm rolling in fast?
  23. I got a little bass raider with a small trolling motor when I was 13 paid for it myself and just recently upgraded to a tracker 1542 with a 15 hp mercury
  24. I would get a jon boat and convert it to a bass boat.
  25. Not trying to hijack the post but will they do anything for top speed? Is it worth putting on something as small as 15 horsepower? I have one just don't know if I should use it or sell it.
