honestly, who cares? probably just means the SEC has cheated twice as much as the other conferences...

youve shared a lot of wonderful knowledge and things on here about fishing. but i still cant get over people respooling every trip if they dont need to. ive used big game on reels up to 3-4 years now, and have never had a breakoff on it. i just think its a bit obsessive and very wasteful to change line that doesnt need to be changed....

spincast reels are just fine for bass fishing. my PB in my avatar came on my old "lucky" spincast reel. its a walmart shakespeare tiger combo, when they were big and metal reels, now theyre smaller and plastic and i wouldnt buy one of them. i use 15lb line on it and have used up to 20lb line. most of my PBs came on this rod and reel. ive even handled a 6.5lb striper on it and many a catfish. its still going strong, the drag is a little weak, but sufficient, just have to play the bigger fish that can take it on runs, which is fun to do anyways. i also have a zebco 33 combo but the original reel broke, a 1lb bass stripped the main gear in it. replaced it and this one is just rough. had a zebco 808, gave it away to someone who said they could fix it because the drag didnt work properly after i broke it trying to pull free from a snag. zebco has been bad luck for me mostly. that original 33 i had on my 33 rod i got as a combo was great at first though, i even hooked a 40-50lb or so flathead with it one night, fish surfaced and rolled before it snapped my line on top of the water. ive caught plenty of bass on it though with a variety of techniques from spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, top water frogs, and soft plastics... so yeah, some are poor in quality, but they are just fine for bass fishing. also many of the problems people encounter with them, are frankly user error. like not enough line or too small or too big of a line. and this may be the wrong way to hold it, but i use a spincaster face down just like a spinning reel and it gives me no problems...

dont you mean trash compactor? lol also, i have a 5'6L ugly stik pro-lite paired with a pflueger trion gx-7 spinning reel that i use for bass fishing on occasion. i have no troubles setting the hook as people are describing. it doesnt take a ton of force to set a hook into a bass. i use it for small weightless plastics and small crankbaits. i mostly use it for pan fishing though. that said, ive hooked and landed 20 inch bass on it...

so i ended up hitting a pond like i mentioned earlier in this thread. the bass loved the pit boss. they were tearing them up. i missed a couple hooksets early with them, then i slowed down a bit before setting the hook and started catching. i like this bait...

yes you can. all you have to do is say "this size for the 5in and that size for the 6in"

i havent fished the scatter rap but the only time ive seen lure spiraling is when the front treble hook is hooked onto my line

no one runs their real offense in preseason anyways(except steve spurrier lol), Kelly isnt doing anything different than the norm in that aspect....that first game of the year is vs my Redskins, i just dont see your defense holding up very well. a bunch of B level average free agents Roseman brung in plus the transition to the 3-4, its going to be tough on yall...

actually you may not be joking or far off at all. because the eagles and patriots practiced against each other for a couple days leading up to the game

i used to see this all the time at Smith Mountain Lake in the 90s, havent seen anyone there do it in years though

get yourself a cast net and catch some of those shad. use them for bait in the pond, and then go somewhere and use them for striper and catfish bait as well. if youre going to add a predatory fish, get the landowners permission first...

yeah i wear a glove to take them off most times, i got a pair of berkeley fishing gloves at walmart for like 5 bucks, but i have had the fin turn when releasing smaller fish and poke me through the mesh of the glove

just regular hand soap or dish soap, works fine for me. just rub your hands together real good with the soap for a couple minutes and then rinse...

i too believe in ghosts and have seen one. i grew up in a house in NC that had a ghost, we named him charlie. radio would cut back on after turned off, my sister unplugged it after a couple times, and it still cut back on while unplugged. rocking chair would just start rocking by itself while at the same time the ghost would start changing the tv channels, literally flipping through them channel by channel till it found what it wanted to watch, usually the news. dogs barking at thin air with hair standing up. seen it walk out of my bedroom one night, the next morning i went to leave my room and the door was locked somehow, could only lock it from the inside, couldnt lock or unlock it from the outside. tapped my sister on the shoulder and spoke to her "hey, whats up" she went running out of the house...

honestly, you can drop shot with anything and have success. i use heavy gear and drop shot for catfish quite often too keep my bait out of the grass on the bottom. yeah, ive drop shotted chicken livers and cut bait and other things with success... my PB largemouth came on a drop shot with a 6'6MH rod and 15lb mono with an owner 2/0 baitholder hook and 1oz weight. the reel, well its an old shakespeare tiger spincast(when they were metal and big) that owns most of my PBs for various species. while mostly associated with finesse fishing, it doesnt have to be fished on light gear...

not sure if you realized it, but every rage tail ive tried, you have to tear apart a small section of plastic on the appendages. or are you referring to something that happens after that is done? i too, only buy mostly rage tail plastics, very few other plastics i buy...

i dont think its even worth the time for one carp, who really would want to bother with all that because of one carp... the carp wont hurt your pond, keep on fishing...

the only time ive seen bass make trails across the top of the water was when i was fishing top water. i would see a trail honing in on my bait then a couple swirls around my bait right before the strike...

i dont prepare too much at all. all my tackle fits in one bag. on occasion i will actually take stuff out of my bag and put it into a backpack and take less. which is what i did yesterday, threw some plastics, hooks, sinkers, pliers, knife and scale into my backpack and hit up a pond. grabbed one spinning rod and thats all i took. it took about 15 minutes to prepare, it took me longer to drive to the pond.

how big is that thing. i wish you had something there for size comparison...

i used to eat fish when i was a kid, then one day i just didnt like it anymore. i wont eat it now either. i will however keep fish for family every now and then, but thats only striper and catfish

ive always had a blast with rebel baits. my first artificial lure was a rebel crickhopper...they work great for panfish and aint bad for bass either

this is my experience pretty much, never had a problem with rebel baits of any kind. of course ive never gotten any for a dollar either...

i bought a pack last year and have yet to use them. maybe ill get out tomorrow and hit up a pond or two...
