  1. probably my all time favorite car. i actually never seen one going down the road until about 2-3 years ago. it was awesome to see. gave the guy a big thumbs up and he nodded back...
  2. not to hurt anyones feelings here, but what makes it worth $600 is all the dumb people willing to buy it. unless youre talking about a monster salt water reel, no fresh water reel should ever be worth that much in my opinion. especially when i can catch the same fish on a reel under $100 or less...
  3. an ugly stick is good for everything but jigs pretty much. its an excellent drop shot rod, good for soft plastics, and mid-sized cranks and topwaters
  4. for all you saying cut the barb off, well how do you do that when its buried deep in a fishes gullet? you cant that i know of. trying to push the barb back up through the gullet to cut it off is going to cause the fish more harm and likely pull their throat out. LEARN THE THROUGH THE GILLS METHOD. its simple and relatively quick once you get the hang of it. its much simpler to me to turn the eye of the hook down through the gills, grab the bend/curve in the hook with some pliers and pull the hook right out. and it pops out very easily every time ive done it, no harm to the fish. seems to make much more sense than cutting the line, or jamming side cutters into a fishes mouth and cutting the hook of which you still leave part of it in the fish if you cant get the barb pushed through, not to mention you risk accidentally cutting the fishes mouth causing further damage. with the through the gills method, you leave nothing in the fish. i have not left a hook in a bass since i learned the method, and have removed hooks from fish left by other anglers as well. its probaly the single greatest thing ive learned on this site
  5. ^^^this, i highly recommend every angler learn it...
  6. dang, funny you mention this, not because you got sick, but because i was bragging to a coworker that i havent been majorly sick in years, got home that evening and could tell something was coming on...get well soon wow, its really lingering on. hope yall get well soon and back to 100%
  7. i hate snakes. i am absolutely terrified of snakes. venomous or not, i want nothing to do with them. i dont even like dead snakes. dont want to be around them. only want to see them on tv, lol that dont bother me...
  8. personally, if i hated the broncos, i would get more satisfaction watching the seahawks beat them...and yes, im going for the seahawks as i attended NC State University like Russell Wilson before he transferred to Wisconsin
  9. it was probably seven years ago last time i lost a fish because line broke. the thing is it was a 40-50lb+ flathead catfish that i hooked on a zebco 33 with 8lb line. and that was a case of fish too big for the line with the drag too tight. but i did manage to get the fish in and to the surface to see it before its death roll snapped my line. ive posted this before. and the line wasnt a year old even. otherwise, my mono is still strong after the 3rd year, i do check it. perhaps you should try getting the most out of your line instead of wasting it after barely using it.... i knew i wasnt the only one...
  10. super bowl easily. its the last nfl football game of the year until preseason in august. plus i dont fish this time of year. i dont fish every day anyways, being an nfl fan, why would i fish during the super bowl? when its dark out and really cold out...i mean i understand if you dont like football or only like watching your team, then it makes sense you wouldnt watch it. its just had to believe some would pass up the biggest game of the year for something they can do any other time
  11. fact is, mono doesnt break down as quick as you think it does. anyone changing mono on their reels every month(some guys do it after every outing) for any reason other than their reel is low on line is wasting line and money.
  12. i never have any of those problems and i personally think yall are just overly paranoid and wasting line. stretch isnt an issue for me at all and i haven't had a break-off in a lot of years. i just dont see these imaginary issues yall prescribe to about mono. Koofy that fact you change the line on your reels once a month, regardless of it being mono or not, says to me youre just overly paranoid. you dont seem to trust your line regardless of type or brand. im convinced im not the only that can use the same mono for several years on a reel and not have the problems yall claim to have.
  13. after two weeks im confident im 100% over this bout of flu. Other than my voice still being a little scratchy from coughing so much, im good, i did lose my voice mostly for 2-3 days early last week. i certainly was well enough to go bowling saturday night followed by a trip to a local *ahem* gentleman's club *ahem* maybe next fall i will break down and get a flu shot...
  14. i dont think there is one general concensus as to a "best drop shot reel". id recommend to just go with a product/brand you trust. reel size would probably depend most on the size line you plan to use and the rod you plan to mount said reel on. that said, the rod is probably more important to drop shotting than the reel. i wouldnt worry about reels that claim to offer less line twist, but i use a swivel directly above my drop shot weight and that helps eliminate most if not all line twist. but i dont use traditional drop shot weights, i use bass casting sinkers for drop shot weights with a split ring on the weights eye and a swivel above the split ring...
  15. i have a supreme mgx and love it. smooth and light weight. i also agree with ww2farmer, the Trions are good reels also. never had a problem out of either of my 2 pflueger spinning reels, have yet to even try the president though
  16. looks like it was filmed in pretty clear water
  17. i dont know that i really set any fishing goals. i mean i always want to get better at this or that, or catch a new PB. i more or less just let things come to me. i dont really like putting expectations on my fishing other than i expect to catch something each time i go. no set goals, no pressure, more relaxation...
  18. some of those creeks around halifax and warren counties will surprise you. never caught any bass out of them but the pan fishing was great. its been a long time since i fished any of them though
  19. just goes to show that you dont need majorly expensive gear to catch nice fish like many seem to think...
  20. mono lasts multiple seasons as well, ive had the same mono on some reels for 3 years and its still going strong. there is a lot of misconceptions out there about mono, its strength, and how long it lasts...
  21. best thing about this winter for me is i dont feel the need to buy anymore new gear or tackle. eventually i probably will end up with a few new lures, but i havent been actively looking for anything specific. normally around mid-february i will make a trip to BPS, so i will probably end up with a few things then provided i make the trip this year to Anne Arundel Mills BPS in Hanover, MD. Otherwise i got plenty of plastics and line to get me through the year, may get a few extra bags of plastics i use a lot but dont really need to. also, the urge to go fishing hasnt really hit me yet, im sure it will soon enough though. i was thinking about it pretty good while laying around sick last week, but that has since passed...
  22. that mustve been pretty fun. i remember fishing a pond for bluegill with a friend about 12 years ago in NC, this pond was loaded with huge humpheaded bluegill almost like the pictures you see from King Fisher Society/Richmond Mill Lake. there was also some nice bass in that pond. my friend had brung his telescopic crappie grabber pole which had no reel. i thought it was cool so he let me use it. part of the pond had a cow fence running through it along the bank. i was fishing out over the fence. my friend ties on a jitterbug and tosses it out next to where im fishing, reels it in and gets nothing, a few seconds later a 3lb bass hits my nightcrawler on the crappie grabber pole. what a fun fight that was with no reel trying to pull this bass out of the water over the fence... as for oddest spot i fished, i guess it was a creek under a bridge. it was probably 10 feet across and pretty deep looking. i remember catching some nice white crappie over 12 inches in the creek. i never wouldve guessed that place had fish like that. about a year later a friend of mine wrecked his souped up mustang 5.0 a half mile down the road from that creek while running from the police. he slightly went off the road, lost control in the grit/gravel there and hit a telephone/light line pole and had a transformer fall on top of his car. if he hadnt wrecked they wouldve never caught him though. he had to spend a couple weeks in Duke hospital...
  23. a week? most of us could probably max it out in a day lol
  24. i dont know about the differences between brands so much as far as the specs go. but i use mono on all but one reel. i like big game for my catfishing. for my bass and panfish rods i was using trilene xl but then i got spools of sufix siege for $5 at last years BPS spring classic sale and have been using that ever since. i think sufix siege is a great all around line. i have nothing against the old trilene xl i was using, but i prefer the sufix siege right now
  25. i had been using moonshine for years to ward off sickness. anytime i felt like something was coming on id take a few shots of moonshine and i would be fine. and i mean the real moonshine made out in the woods, not the store bought stuff. i tell you what, it didnt help me this time one bit... thats interesting nick, i will have to try and remember that...
