a zebco 33 will catch bass just fine. what amazes me is that some of yall would be amazed if he caught a fish on the 33. that really has me baffled. ive caught plenty of bass(up to 4lbs) on a 33 when it was all i had 8 or so years ago. now i admit, its not ideal for all baits, but i mostly used plastics at that time anyways, which its fine for. one day i tied a small spinnerbait on it, got hit hard by a 1lb bass and it stripped the main gear in the reel(i still landed the fish). so yeah, as long as he isnt fishing moving baits, the 33 will be fine for some applications. but regardless, there is no need to be surprised that a 33 can catch and land a bass...

they were a pain for me to tie as well last year. some of the tips in this thread should help with that this year though...not my thread but still helpful to me, thanks for the info everyone...

mono not sure what line you are using but maybe try a different brand. also, maybe you want to try some KVD Line and Lure conditioner. I dont know about arguing with KVD, but here is what raised my eye brow. Some have KVD as saying he uses fc line for jerkbaits. then that guy says KVD said he used braid for jerkbaits. seems contradictory to me...

mid April for striped bass on Smith Mtn Lake too...they will be in the main lake and up shallow at night...

yeah, its doubtful the fish will be spawning just yet in NC. the water temp wont equal the air temp. but it will warm the water up some and could make the fish want to feed. i would try shallow diving cranks, lipless cranks, and shakey heads. also would try t-rigging a berkley power bait red shad worm...

i have the pflueger supreme mg, i love it. light weight and smooth... if youre worried about a tiny bit difference in retrieve speed, just reel faster when the situation calls for it. simple as that.

there are times when its just not conducive to easily release a bass softly in the water. ive fished ponds where the weeds around the edge are rather grown up. you have to toss them back in there, granted i try to do it in a manner where they can land as soft as possible, but still they have to be tossed/thrown back in based on the circumstances.

if they were bass, they would long be dead by now anyways... i agree, the forked tail is what makes me almost certain they arent bass. the bodies look like catfish to me but the head doesnt look like a catfish. could be anything...

fish with your club members as much as possible, you could learn a lot from them. also, that time on the water is experience, and helps you to better understand and put together the things you read and learn on here and elsewhere....

weightless lizards are great, i fish them weightless most of the time. occasionally i will use a sliding bullet weight, usually just because i want extra casting distance. i like zoom and rage tail lizards. most any color green with specs will work great.

hahaha, i can see this site doing that. i understand people paying attention to details and all, but after reading some of the posts here over the years, it seems like some guys make fishing more into a chore than an enjoyment to the point it seems like it would take a lot of the fun out of it.

actually i was speaking of the baby rage craw, real versatile bait there. i use a bigger hook for the regular rage craws. i fish the baby craws more often though, but the same techniques apply...

you'll be fine, youre worrying too much. i never knew how paranoid many bass fishermen were about things until i came here to this site. honestly, the level of paranoia is similar to that of crackheads. just to clarify, im not calling anyone here a crackhead...

i like to fish them weightless on a 1/0 EWG hook. they float down real slow in the water column and thats often when a bass snatches it and takes off, watch for your line to take off sideways. also, weightless, i will fish them like a top water with a steady retrieve, those claws flapping on top will attract bass. or with or without weight, i will fish them slowly on the bottom

the printer is probably older than windows 8 i am guessing, and not compatible with windows 8. try searching online for your model of printer and the updated drivers for windows 8 to make them compatible...

meh, an ugly stik is just as good a drop shot rod as any, though many here will disagree...

the casing of the is kind of odd too. it could be intentionally done, but often printers are in a rush and overlook many mistakes. i work in a printing and mail shop and have been around them all my life. Currently i run laser printers that personalize the text of letters on preprinted paper. i see typos and mistakes all the time after everything has been approved by our clients to print. sometimes its stuff like above, sometimes its so simple i dont know how they missed it. like printing the word Reply in 24 point font at the top of the page and it gets approved and printed as Rely...

noise typically doesnt bother me at all, a lot of times im listening to music on the dock when i take my trips to Smith Mtn Lake. dont use braid, so no problem there either...

i never caught a lake bass on a spinnerbait, but have caught plenty of pond bass on them.

None is directly earmarked for fishing. im going to let it sit in the bank till i want or need something. that something could be fishing related, but doubtful. i just dont feel the need to rush out and blow my entire refund on stuff all at once, many people do that every year...
