Email Notifications?
haha, i think i allow emails from admins, but thats it. i really dont need a bunch of emails telling me someone posted in a thread i posted in or whatever. when i come back i just look for a star next to the threads and i know its a thread i posted in, click the star and it takes me to the next post after my last or the last read post in that thread...

Appalachian Outlaws
Hillbilly Blood seems kind of scripted to me for sure. But I think the purpose is to show how people can improvise and live off the land. Those guys probably have real everyday jobs to make a living though. Have yet to see Appalachian Outlaws, actually never heard of it until now. Will have to check it out. Moonshiners is great, though i dont like what Mark and Jeff are doing blowing up cars and stuff. That had to be scripted and just a way of showing how moonshining can lead to violence like in the old days, if it was real they would definately be going to jail because its all right there on tape for everyone to see.

Lake Locked Stripers
ive caught plenty trolling a single chartruese sassy shad on a green painted jig head. ironically i have never caught one trolling an umbrella rig, not land locked anyways, i did catch a 42 incher in the chesapeake bay last mothers day on an umbrella rig. also, white flukes on a jig head will work if you can find them schooled up. im surprised no one has mentioned the thunderstick, people on smith mtn lake swear by them for night time casting for stripers. ive also caught them on chicken livers and white perch cut bait while catfishing. 15 minutes later i caught a 4lb channel cat on the same piece of white perch cutbait lol... my biggest land locked striper if i recall correctly is 27.5 inches...for some reason im thinking 29 inches too, really cant remember...but the striper fishing is coming back big time on smith mtn lake from what i understand, there was a fish kill some years ago that wiped out a bunch of big stripers. copepods or whatever attached themselves to the stripers gills and affected their breathing thereby wiping out ones that made some longer runs up and down the lake. before that it was considered a trophy striper fishery. they now have for the last several years implemented a slot limit in the colder months where you have to throw them back if theyre within that slot limit. warmer months the encourage you keep what you caught up to your limit because of a higher death rate when releasing them...

The Old Faithful Bluegill
i love fishing for bluegill. my uncle has a pond with some nice sized bluegill in there, often i will fish for them instead of bass or if the bass arent cooperating. i love seeing them zip all over the place when i hook them. voracious feeders and fighters. if not using night crawlers(which also catch the bass) i will use my favorite all time bluegill lure. its called a rebel tad fry, they absolutely love it and often destroy it upon impact with the water....

X Box Fishing
i have a Wii-U and it will play all the old Wii games too, not sure if there are any actual fishing games for the Wii-U out yet. I have a few fishing games for the old Wii though. if you want to sit and press buttons to catch fish thats fine, but if you want to go through motions and stuff like that, get the fishing games for the Wii, the motions make it a little more realistic. i got a KVD fishing game at a pawn shop for 3 bucks. I'm not sure if the Xbox 360 with Kinect allows you to interact in fishing games like the Wii/Wii-U. What amazes me is a lot of people dont yet know the difference between the Wii and Wii-U. The Wii is all about the motion sensor and swinging around the wii-mote and physical movements for the most part. The Wii-U is actually a solid gaming system with the touch screen game pad. It doesnt even come with a wii-mote, yet the wii-motes from the old Wii will work on the Wii-U as will all the old regular Wii games. I hear people all the time in Wal-mart and such places ask if they can just by the game pad for their old Wii, you cannot. sorry, a bit of a rant here in this paragraph...

Confusing?
ok, you have given me a fair example as ive ripped out a few fish eyes in my day. and i agree about if a person gets hooked, could be good to have a pair around. im convinced to invest in some cutters for if i hook myself or someone else gets hooked. once i hooked myself through my tshirt and into my jeans and into my leg with both trebles after i yanked a SK6XD crankbait out of a tree when i made a bad cast. cutters could of helped, the hooks in my leg werent deep, not even past the barb thankfully. cutters could of freed me much easier than the pliers i used to rip the hooks back out of my jeans and shirt...

Please Recommend A Rod Reel Combo For Small Pond. (120' X 300')
welcome to the forum jdee. also, i think that is an excellent combo at a fair price for a pond. i have the same trion reel mounted on a 5'6" Light ugly stik lite-pro rod. i use it to pond fish as well, it helps with not getting caught in trees so much. ive handled LM Bass up to 4lbs on it with ease. i use 6lb sufix siege on it. in the picture below i was using 8lb trilene xt that trion on a 5'6 rod casts just fine for me. i fish a lot of weightless soft plastics on it(mostly baby rage craws) and small tiny crankbaits(rebel tad fry). i also use live bait on it for panfish. Where do you live in WV?

Confusing?
the thing is, since i learned the removal method, i have seen no instance where i had to cut the line and leave a hook in. but i do acknowledge that it may not hold true for everyone, i just havent came across that instance myself...

What Makes A Reel Worth $600 Dollars..??? I Speak Of The Diawa Steez
if its the equipments price point that makes it enjoyable to you, then youre looking at it all wrong. i have an old $20 shakespeare tiger spincast combo i got from walmart that has lasted me several years(maybe 7 now) and is still going strong. i have had many of my most enjoyable fishing moments fishing this combo and still use it to this day. ive hauled in 24 inch striped bass with this combo, no problem. and plenty of fiesty catfish too. 20inch+ bass, yep. so really, my point is, the price of the reel or the name on it shouldnt matter when it comes to enjoying yourself. i enjoy the act of fishing, has nothing to do with the equipment. id get enjoyment if all i had were a cane pole or a soda bottle with line wrapped around it. so no, im not buying that enjoyment bs. and seriously, i stated my intentions werent to hurt anyones feelings(ie- dont want to talk bad about anyone), but i also stated my opinion bluntly as i could without beating around the bush. a $600 reel for bass is a waste of money in my eyes, and they sell for that price because the people making them know there are people dumb enough to buy it. once again, sorry, but there is no way to change my mind on this, paying that much for a bass fishing reel is not justifiable by any means, that price is pretty ridiculous no matter how you look at it

Lure Prices Getting Silly
doesnt really matter to me who makes them, a big factory or a guy in his garage, if people are willing to pay the price for them, then the price is going to stay high and possibly increase in time. its a pretty simple theory. what im saying is, if people are paying the price, its unlikely to go down, and more likely to go up eventually.

Confusing?

Cold Water Pond Bass Fishing
i have no luck with soft plastics when cold water pond fishing. like bluebasser said, most of my luck has come on a suspending jerk bait fished real slow. also have had some luck on shallow diving cranks fished slowly, like a manns 1-minus. the best color for me has been silver with a little bit of orange on the belly at the front of the lure...

What Makes A Reel Worth $600 Dollars..??? I Speak Of The Diawa Steez
its nothing to do with ***, i can go out and spend $600 on a reel if i wanted to, but why would i is the question? i dont need to use the reel to know that there are other very good options out there for a hell of a lot less money that can handle any bass i hook. if you like having your pockets raped, by all means, enjoy. but no one is going to convince me a $600 reel is going to help me catch anymore bass than i could with a less expensive reel. its not going to make you a better angler or put more fish in your boat. Stlbob, im just speaking from my personal perspective as well. but hey, since you were gifted a reel of that price, enjoy. i hope you have great success. i just cant justify myself spending that kind of money either. but honestly, i dont know why anyone would willingly spend that kind of money on a fishing reel. fishing stuff is getting expensive as it is, paying those kind of prices isnt going to help the cost of fishing go down, its gonna fuel companies to keep raising their prices for lures and tackle, rods and reels...

Lure Prices Getting Silly
frankly, as long as people buy them, the companies making the high priced baits will continue to sell them, and continue to raise prices.

Anybody Get Their Bps Master Catalog?
got mine several weeks ago. get all kinds of flyers now. before i had to sign up for these things every year, and wonder why my uncle was getting ones i never got. turns out, i started getting everything from them in the mail the minute i got one of their credit cards...

Confusing?
ive never ever seen an instance where i needed wire cutters to remove a hook from a bass...i'm not calling anyone a liar, but i'd really love to see a clear good quality picture of such an instance, of the bass with hook in the mouth

Super Bowl
first goodell doesnt just pick the superbowl site himself. there are several cities competing for a SB in a given year, they present their cases, a committee actually pics the superbowl site. and honestly, i love the idea of a cold weather super bowl. gives fans of different demographics a chance to go as well, instead of the same old cities. its not the first cold weather city to host a SB either, just the first outdoors stadium to host it. besides, regular season and playoff games are played in the cold and the elements, why not a super bowl?

The Flu
sorry to hear about your loss ww2farmer. ive heard other stories of people having negative and even crippling reactions to the flu shot. one was a redskins cheerleader a few year back. which is part of what makes me hesitant to get one, when ive never had one and had gone year without getting the flu. and even though i had a hell of a bout with the flu this year, im still hesitant to get one next fall/winter
