i got a pack of bubblegum(pink and white) floating worms from Haw River Tackle i received for christmas one year. i fished them weightless and killed some pond fish with them. just give them a jerk and they move like a snake in the water and then stop and float there and theyd get crushed...

Trying Big Waters From Shore
whats funny is the first year i fished this cove, i caught nothing over that way by the stumps. now i catch more there than anywhere else. Smtih Mtn Lake is over 20,000 acres and 500 miles of shoreline, just to give you a size comparison to the water youre fishing. My aunt and uncle own a house on the lake there. ive spent a lot of time studying that cove and learning it, atleast the areas i can cast to from the dock or shore. it did help getting out there on a boat though and learning water depth and what the underwater layout looked like. if the water is really low there at some point in time, i suggest going and looking at what you can see that was previously under water even if you dont fish that day. pay attention to your lure or bait when you reel it back in to see if there is grass attached to it. if its a bottom lure then pay attention to any possible snags/hesitation when you go to move your lure, it could be transitioning from one bottom type to another or indicate some form of cover....

Trying Big Waters From Shore
i fish a large man-made lake from shore several times a year also, Smith Mountain Lake. One of my main targets is fishing the docks there that are within reach of casting distance. In the summer heat fish will hide under the docks for shade. Also there is a downed tree nearby that ive pulled fish from. and also there are a few stumps around in the cove. I was down there this past october and the water was really low, i took some pictures of the terrain thats usually covered in water. plus out in front of the dock im on i know there are humps underwater and just out past where i can cast runs a creek channel that runs through the cove with even deeper water. i also know there is a flat and a point in the vicinity too. knowing all these things have helped me catch fish from the bank in such a large body of water. it took 2-3 years to learn all this stuff, but now it helps me decide what to throw and where to target, and if that fails i know i have different underwater structure to target all around me. granted going out in my uncles boat has helped me learn some of this via the electronics which may be an advantage you dont have... also, the last couple years there has been an underwater grass bed growing out in front of the dock. ive learned i have success catching fish by casting to certain areas or pockets in the grass or by staying on the edges of the grass, transitional areas. the bass in my avatar came there while nightfishing. i casted my bait out by the tree stumps which are in the flat which is between the point and the grass bed...

Lost One Yesterday.......
sometimes fish grab the bait and try to swim off with it but not the hook, as mentioned above. ive witnessed this in shallow clear water using live bluegills for bass. sometimes they drop it the minute they feel resistance, other times i would let them swim quite a bit with the bluegill in their mouth to give them a chance to try and swallow it so i could set the hook in them...

Weirdest Things You Ever Caught (Non-Fish)?

Just Scored At Walmart, 80% Off!!
My local Wal-marts normally have a few things on sale, but not for $1 a piece. The only thing ever for $1 there was when they had the vicious displays set up in every walmart i went to.

Rage Shellcracker "bass Sushi"
i feel the same way about BPS, they should organize by brand name instead of bait type in my opinion. it would make it much easier for me to find something...perhaps when i went it was a seasonal thing where they removed some of their fishing stuff temporarily to make more room for winter stuff...im planning to make a trip there soon to the Hanover store, i just won $450 on a football block sheet for the super bowl and got some extra cash to blow, i want to try these shellcrackers out myself. i've had days where ragetail products(lizards, craws and toads) outfished live nightcrawlers another guy was using in a pond where usually nightcrawlers will catch every bass in the pond and artificials might get you one or two...

Keeping Bass
part of the problem is if everyone caught and release in a lake thats loaded with 12inch or smaller bass, the fish become stunted and dont grow big because there is so much competition for food. i'll put it like this. say you have a small lake with a bunch of small stunted bass. most bass fishermen seem to be catch and release with bass. what they dont realize is theyre working against themselves if they want to catch bigger fish. by constantly returning the stunted fish to the water, theyre lessening the chances of bass growing bigger in that lake. What most strictly catch and release guys seem to forget is selective harvest can be a good thing too. keeping some of the smaller bass can be good for the overall fishery. also part of the problem is some people putting bass up on a pedestal like theyre some kind of royalty or something. you know the type that gets ticked if they see someone keep a bass whether to eat or mount. or the type that wants to cry and/or feel bad if they hook a bass and it bleeds a little, or floats when they release it...

Too Many Line Cause Confusion!
i use mono for everything although i do have one reel spooled with fluorocarbon which fishes just like mono to me and i dont get the supposed invisibilty part of it either as bluegills come and attack the line in the water, never had that problem with mono...

Rage Shellcracker "bass Sushi"
My local walmart only carries the toads and shads. you could try the BPS in Hanover, MD at Anne Arundel Mills. But the last two BPS(Richmond, VA; Hanover, MD) i checked at for Rage Tail Craws and Lizards didnt have them when they previously had loads of them, for some reason most all the Rage Tail baits but a couple mysteriously dissappeared off the shelves...

Looking For A Little Advice On Not Getting Payed By My Employer.
i would just move on and chalk it up as a lesson learned. its not worth the effort. as far as him accusing you of stealing, if he didnt file a police report, then i wouldnt even worry about it. just dont list him as a reference or prior place of employment when applying for your next job. sure having that money would help, and it sucks to get screwed out of what youre owed, but sometimes you just gotta take a bite of that big ole crapburger and move on...as for the key, i wouldve gave it back to him the minute you were terminated from there, or take it back asap and avoid confrontation... ....or you could go eminem-style from the movie The Wash lol...jk dont do that...

Sensitivity, Separating The Reality From The Propaganda
ive long been a believer that the sensitivity thing is overrated. If i can feel bites just fine on a $35 ugly stik, then why would i even think of paying $100+ on rods that many of yall seem to constantly break on hooksets? its not worth it to me. any amount of sensitivity difference between a cheap rod and expensive rod is real minimal and not worth the extra money to me. and dont tell me i would feel more bites with an expensive rod i didnt know i was getting with the cheap rod. Ive seen fishing shows using underwater cameras and the diver telling professional fishermen to set the hook they were getting a bite, but the fisherman never knew it until the underwater cameraman told him...
