  1. I had a tournament to fish today which I'm skipping. I don't care so much about the rain but the forecast is calling for winds 15-20 sustained with gusts to 30. Since it's a 10hp lake I'd be stuck on a TM. Sorry, under those conditions I'd have to be able to fire the big motor up.
  2. Always a racer. You could see that grin on his face during the run. It sounds like he hit just about every rumble strip at every corner. BTW, F1 babes age well.
  3. My favorites aren't even made anymore. I'm pretty well stocked on Realine co-polymer. I'm just about out of Rapala Finesse. Otherwise good old original stren has worked for me for many years.
  4. The Green Curado's have been around quite a few years. For awhile, Shimano used to use the bantam moniker on both the Curado and Citica before dropping it. I don't remember the exact year they dropped the "bantam" name off the Curado but if you see that you know it's an older reel. The CU came into play when they dropped the bantam part. SF stands for super free. That indicates the pinion gear has a bearing to support it which is supposed to translate into longer casting ability. When the SF was introduced in around '01-02, it added about $40 to the price of a regular CU200 reel. They never really caught on so the prices of them today are pretty much in-line with a regular green Curado. There are a lot of VERY loyal Green Curado fishermen out there. When Shimano introduced the D line in 2006 there was a strong demand for the green reels. So much so that a typical, used green curado on Ebay was selling for $90-100 (rash and all) and those in new or mint condition, around $110 - 140. Much of that panic hording has ended now and green reels typically sell for around $65 - 80 with new or mint reels selling for around $100.
  5. That's actually a very good question. To my knowledge no one has ever done long term testing on graphite fishing rods to determine if the rods sensitivity degrades or if the structural integrity is compromised due to fatigue from long term usage. That would be a good question for someone in the rod manufacturing business.
  6. As Mike pointed out, the flexing of the hull will either crack the JB weld or break the bond from the aluminum.
  7. Idiotic panic by the general population as usual. My son works at a station and last night it was nuts. Fist fights, arguments and for nothing. Gas prices still haven't gone up.
  8. Don't know about that product but Charger bass boats has had a recirculating livewell system on their boats for quite a few years that pumps water through copper tubing in the bottom of the ice chest. Fill up the ice chest with ice, throw in your food and drinks and it serves a dual purpose. Not sure how well a refrigeration system would work on a bass boat. A compressor may draw too many amps for a typical motor battery.
  9. There was a rush on the gas stations yesterday. Price was and still is only $3.69 for reg unleaded but most stations are out of it. I wound up paying $3.99 for Premium since that's all they had left. : BTW, I believe the maximum they can jack the price here in Missouri is 10 or 15% a day. So far only isolated cases of that. We don't get our gas from down there anyway, we've got local refineries.
  10. I've still got his email. I'm going to send him a note informing him of just how bad a job he did on this so called "rebuild" job. He occasionally sells multiple TM's on the forums. Usually a guy selling junk would be outed but not so in this case. I tore the thing down last night including pulling the inner shaft from the outer. : I figured out where the screw(s) came from. I'm making a repair that should be better than new.
  11. The only con would be if you needed service. You will have to go to BPS since most reel repair places won't touch BPS reels due to parts availability. Otherwise, the Extremes are good reels for the money especially if you catch them on sale.
  12. That is not true! Please do not just make up an answer. Boy, no kidding. The C4 is built on a platform that's been around for 40 + years. The Revo S is a ground up new model only 2 years old.
  13. Not necessarily. Many states don't require the titling of boats or trailers. In the case of many of these older aluminum boats, the thing has passed hands several times. Many times, the boat is used on a private lake where state registering isn't even necessary. I bought a titleless boat. I'm about owner #3 or 4 in it's 30 + year history. The trailer is homemade and the boat, still with perfectly legible model and ser. number hasn't been numbered in 20 years since it was only used on private lakes. Somewhere along the road the title was lost by one of the owners. I found out to get a title the owner I purchased from would have to apply and pay any back PP taxes on it. That wasn't going to happen. If you're going to buy a smaller boat for public waters insist on a title. If you'll primarily be fishing private water, it's less of an issu3e.
  14. "rattle headed, copper, moccasins." ;D
  15. I know I wouldn't like to see Jim Cantore come rolling into town one day. Now, Stephanie Abrahms on the other hand........

And the ever popular "Do I look fat in this?" followed by "Would you tell me the truth if I did?" yeah, I wouldn't touch either of those with YOUR 10 foot pole let alone mine.
  17. Go to www.buehlersales.com they now handle Luck E Strike. You can order a catalog on their website. The G4 is still available but anything associated with Guido is no longer listed since he's no longer a fishing rep for them. I've been told you can order older, non-listed colors if you email them.

The original poes were cedar. The biggest eccentricity of the original baits was the paint would crack. The best way to handle that was with some clear finger nail polish. You can still find original poes RC1's and RC3's along with the 300 and 400 series divers on Ebay. Also, they pop up occasionally on the forums. Pretty reasonably priced too. They don't demand the big $$ like the original wiggle warts or older Bagley's balsa baits.
  19. During my time away here I purchased a 12 ft semi V and added the 12volt 55lb AT from my Champion. That motor never had the grunt to pull that 18 1/2 footer around anyway. To replace it I purchased a used MK Maxxum, 65lb 24 volt that was supposedly rebuilt from a guy at a marine dealer at another forum. That motor has been more work that the money I saved. I paid a whole $200 for it. Yes, I knew it was well used. Right off the bat, after I installed it, the motor wouldn't deploy. It turned out the deployment latches and pull rope had been put in new (that's a good thing) but he put the wrong size in. That's bad. I wound up grinding the latches down to make them work. Then, trip number 2, while on high speed the TM suddenly came to an abrupt halt. Smoke started coming out from the TM head. That's not supposed to happen. That was the end of that day on the lake. When I got home I pulled the head apart and found the guy must have tried to rewire the tm wires. The wires that feed the light for the direction arrow shorted out to ground. That led to a rewiring job. All along I had had problems with the TM occasionally jamming when steering. I'd have to pull the motor out and re-deploy. On my last outing, the motor jammed up tight, foot pedal wouldn't move. Fortunately at the end of a tournament I was fishing. Tonight I found a screw that had somehow gotten down inside the inner and outer shafts of the TM. I'm trying to figure out how to get it out but it certainly explains the intermittant steering jamming. When it comes to used equipment, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. One thing is for sure, I'll be on the look out for this particular person and if I see him post any so-called "rebuilt" TM's for sale, either here or anywhere else, I'll be sure to warn anyone to think twice before dealing with this guy.
  20. I've owned 6 of them for a year and a half now. Great reels and no problems what so ever.
  21. The Revo S does have centrifugal brakes. I own 6 Revo S, a SX and STX and used to own a couple SC's. never had a problem with any of them. I've currently added 4 Johnny Morris reels to my collection. 2 of the newer JMX 10HC's and the 2 year old JMX 10SB's for cranking. Incredible reels. I never thought I'd like the feeling of the metal finish but it's actually quite nice. Too bad the Shimano Calais are so expensive, I'd actually think about investing in one.
  22. You haven't said what pitch or prop you're running.

  24. Here is the regulation from my state of Missouri on culling: There is one exception: If, from September through June you are a participant in a bona fide catch and release bass tournament (one after which all bass are released alive), which requires entrants to have a boat livewell with adequate capacity and a pump constantly adding fresh water or recirculating water, the black bass you release unharmed from the livewell need not be added to your daily limit. At no time can the daily limit be exceeded. My guess is there was a state law in place that he broke. Seems more like grounds for disqualification to me.
