  1. http://bobbysfishinrods.com/page/1hhhv/Allstar_Asr_Rods.html $75 + shipping.
  2. First off, the Compre rod I quickly looked at was the 7' model, MHVY action. It showed the lightest recommended lure weight at 3/8 oz. A 1/4 or 3/8 oz lure is going to be tough to toss very far on that rig with 20lb test.
  3. I was supposed to go down to LOZ this past week for my annual 4-5 dayer. Took Thurs and Friday off. With the crappy lake report, then pouring rain on Thursday followed by high winds Friday followed by way too cold on Sat and Sunday........ ugghh. Glad I stayed home. Sorry your trip didn't turn out any better.
  4. I usually go down to Panama City Beach, the "Redneck Riviera". ;D I love it down there. Besides the offshore opportunities there's inshore along with the city water supply, Deer Pointe lake for bass and Talquin is only 1 1/2 hours away for bass as well. I'm really longing to hit the beach again. Glad you had a great time! 8-)
  5. How do you get a backlash while you flip when you don't even release the spool? :-?
  6. The wiggle wart bite sounds like it's going though not as good because of the muddy water. Throw the thing right up on the chunk rock banks, smaller points back in the coves, right at the waters edge. Work it slowly. Spinnerbaits and jigs will also work.
  7. Sorry, I don't have any photo's of the sellers boat either.
  8. You have the option of putting a tandem trailer under just about any boat. I wouldn't own a 19 1/2 foot boat or larger that didn't have a tandem whether I was hauling long distances or not. That's just too much weight on a single axle for me to be comfortable with. As for rough water ride. I don't think I'd be looking at a Ranger, or even a Triton if running the rough stuff on a regular basis is a concern. Champion would be a better choice. IMO.
  9. Spend the roughly $100 and have a diagnostics run on the motor. If your compression is off or low they can give you an estimate on a rebuild. It may be as simple as carb rebuild or ignition problem too. If it is in need of a rebuild, then price OB's. One thing about todays outboard motors is, they are gas sippers compared to that 24 year old, gas gulper motor you have. With gas at $3 a gallon from now till who knows when, it's something to consider into the financial equation.
  10. I sent mine in about 2 weeks ago. I can't remember how long it took last year when I sent 2 of them in on the SC's I got from Cabela's. It wasn't over a month for sure.
  11. I wouldn't give $7000 for it. Lower.
  12. The question is a little broad to give a good answer. A 21 foot boat will have more storage (usually) and deck space (usually) compared to a 19 1/2 footer. The question is, what are you going to use this boat for primarily and where? Are there any financial constraints? How much stuff do you usually bring? What tow vehicle do you own?
  13. $400 is a deal in your part of the country. I tune into those home flip show and first time home buyer shows and it never ceases to amaze me the prices houses are going for on the east and west coasts. Folks are paying $300 - 500k for what amount to old cracker boxes. For that amount of money here in the Midwest, you could buy the same house, along with a lake house and possibly have money left over to furnish both.
  14. There are several methods from wet sanding with the higher grit papers, 1000 and ending up with 2000. Then a polishing compound. You can also use a rubbing compound on a wool bonnet on a polisher. The best polisher out there that's usually recommended is sold by Harbor Freight. It runs around $40. I runs at a slow speed that you can't find unless you spend a lot more money. After you're done, work it over with a polishing compound and then a good marine wax like Macguires Flagship. You could also go with a product called Vertglas. It's a restorer that will bring the luster back. Another product is called Bass Boat Saver. Neither of these products is long lasting (a year usually) That's the bad part of gelcoat finishes. Anytime it's in the sun those UV rays are slowly eating it up.
  15. Hey, at least it says dingy. Dixie must be one of the few lakes in this state that isn't muddy right now. This is rain/high water/mud situation has completely ruined my spring fishing season. >
  16. I've heard the latest thing is to wear ice fishing gloves while you're out big game fishing. I wish I knew someone selling that sort of outfit to get me started.
  17. It's in Montana.
  18. MK has some props they call power props available for some of their models on their prop page. I have no idea if they do anything to help your top end speed over a weedless wedge prop or not. They claim they do.
  19. The Cobia should be cruising the beaches. It's like an addiction down there. ;D
  20. We used to have a member here that was a lure moocher.
  21. Not necessarily true of bass boats made in the 70's and early 80's. That era of bassboat building saw a lot of boats built with chopper guns. Not that that was bad in itself but the quality of the construction was very reliant on how good the gun operator was. A resin rich boat, which would be heavier, is not a good thing. I can't say whether Monarks were hand laid or chopper boats.
  22. You've likely got a completely rotten floor, deck and stringer system along with saturated foam. I imagine the transom is shot as well. Those kind of boats sink pretty good and make great fishing cover. The amount of work necessary to repair that is, well, not worth it.
