Ideal topwater rod?
I also have a Zell Rowland, Titanium topwater special. Perfect action for most topwater presentations. I also use a pistol grip 6' med older Bionic Blade IM6 rod.

Abu Garcia Revo S makes me feel like a newb
loosen the small thumbscrew on the top of the handle side plate until it's loose. Grasp the palm plate and rotate the front of the plate upwards (counter clockwise on a leftie when looking straight at it.)

Does water temperature matter?
Cold Blooded: Their body temperature and more importantly, their metabolism is controlled by water temperature. The warmer the water, the higher their metabolism. Bass are most active between about 60 degrees and 75 degrees. Below about 50 degrees, their metabolism slows down, causing them to eat infrequently. Above about 80 degrees, low dissolved oxygen levels in the water place them under stress. Dead perch may be an indication of low oxygen levels. What's more important than the current water temperature is what's happening to it (i.e. is it going up or down?). Changes in water temperature affect shallow bass much more than those residing in deep water. Keep in mind that water temperature is but one factor to consider when putting together a fishing strategy. I merely clicked on the Fishing Articles tab, sub section Begining Anglers and found this. It's a shame the resources already present on this website aren't utilized by some who come here.

Flooring and Removal of Closed Bow
I would suggest going over to the Iboats forum, registering and posting this question on their restoration forum. Those guys are pretty knowledgable of older runabout's of that vintage.

site performance
I've noticed, in fact it's doing it right now here at work, when a post to a thread page comes up the post button doesn't say post right away, it says "wait". Really weird. I just noticed that happening the past few days.

Sometimes, yes. Not just the morning either. It either just speeds along or else it stumbles.

Spotted Eagle Ray leaps from water and kills woman on boat
I've heard of Barracuda's coming out of the water and really messing people up. Never a ray.

Pay more on ebay?
I've seen people at regular auctions get caught up in the bidding and go overboard on price, that's not just an Ebay thing. Sellers love those kind of people, other bidders despise them.

Have you though about an upholstery shop?

Skeeter ZX vs Sx
Tough to say looking at the pictures on the website. Besides the wider beam on the ZX it looks like the Z might have a slighter deeper V than th SX. Tough to call though with the pictures they have of each boat.

kb here man did i get a surprise (credit card bill)
Seriously, my wife was a victim of identity theft a couple years ago. Someone used her name and SS number to get a new phone line installed in their house. We didn't find out about it until she attempted to change a CC balance to a new card and they refused because she had a phone bill with an outstanding balance of $2000!! Upon investigation it turned out the phone was attached to a residence in one of the worst parts of town. Many, many of the phone calls were long distance made to various prisons within the state of Missouri and Illinois. : To make a long story short. It was sad that we were basically considered guilty until we could prove ourselves innocent. It turns out the phone line was hooked up just a month after my wife had taken a loan out at a car dealership. Police told us it's not uncommon for identity thieves to work as car detailers in dealerships and have an insider collecting info from loan applications!! >

Differences between manufacturers
I was only kidding about the bullet. Seriously, when you're talking about the hotrod boats like Ali's, Bullets, Blazers and Strokers, you've really got to pay attention to the engines. The owners of those boats have a tendency to "modify" the engines in an attempt to massage a few more MPH top end out of them. Those kinds of mods done to a stock motor tend to cause it to run on the extreme edge of it's safe band. In other words, the motor is really cranking out some serious HP but it's on the verge of blowing up to do so. If you wanted into the speed catagory, I'd look for an older XB-2002 Allison. 20 footer that will get you easily into the 70mph range with only a 150hp motor.

More rod and reel questions
I think there is a thread about those JM $80 reels on this board already. I don't remember what the consensus about that reel was though.
