1987 kingfisher
As with any boat of that vintage, check for the structural integrity of the wood in the boat. Transom and stringers. Excessive soft spots in the floor or a flexing transom are warning signs. As for the engine. I've seen engines run great on the muffs but fall flat on their face when you put them in water and tried to actually push the boat with one. One other thing, the boat is located in Jacksonville FL. Check for any corrosion, this may have been exposed to SW. As for the Kingfisher brand. Long ago out of business. Just an average boat builder in their day. No more than $2000 for that boat.

USING POWER TRIM ON OUTBOARD TO HOIST WIFE
After seeing this thread title a few times I've got to laugh. My wife would kill me if I posted a question on a public forum about hoisting her with a OB motor power trim along with mentioning her weight! ;D

How to fish Milfoil
Back in the days when Lake of the Ozarks was loaded with the stuff, by the end of summer there were coves literally choked with it. Just matted up on the surface. We'd look for holes in the matting which often indicated depth change or some sort of submerged cover below. One of the most successful methods I found was buzz baits. Not just any buzz bait, most will get tangled up pretty quick and become worthless. The best I found was a BPS Uncle Bucks Buzzer. I'd toss those past any holes I saw in the mats and buzzed them over the top. By keeping the rod tip high, the BPS UBB will ride over the top of the milfoil. The buzzer will turn in virtually no water and the weedguard at the back keeps you from tangling. Hand on tight!

E-bay confusion
Good question. I haven't ever dealt with anyone on Ebay that did that but I wonder about the logic. Personally, I used to take money orders and stopped. It's a great way around Paypal fees but it adds delays. It also locks out buyers who don't or won't have a Paypal account. OTOH, I can't tell you how many times I had someone wait 3 days to notify me that they finally got a MO and then another day or two to mail it. I finally got fed up and just take Paypal only.

You won't go to hell if you say a prayer now, try this one. "Lord, I apologize for that right there, and please be with the starvin' pygmies in New Guinea, A-men" ;D

USING POWER TRIM ON OUTBOARD TO HOIST WIFE
Why not get one of those hang-over-the-side ladders? Not saying the engine wouldn't handle the job but if she's barefoot and her foot would slip off the cavitation plate, she could wind up with a nasty gash if her foot strikes the prop.

Where is PB2 at LOZ?
The owners are a tad quirky. The resort is right above Bridgeport Marina and the rooms at that time a year will probably run from $45-55 a night and you get a free boat slip at the Marina. Now the bad. The place is something of a dump although the rooms were clean enough. The boat ramp at the marina??? Well, it's interesting to say the least, something of an obstacle course. The free boat slip? Hopefully they remember to leave the electricity on, I'd suggest bringing a couple hundred feet of extension cords as a backup. Oh, and the walk from the dock up to the resort will fulfill your cardio vascular exercise needs for the week. ;D

barry bonds may be cheating...
If you're going to allow cheating with devices to help your swing along with the use of performance enhancements why stop there? Corked bats? Why not. Spit balls? Hey sounds good to me. Gambling on baseball games? Hell, at least Pete always gambled on his team to win. MLB sold the integrity of the game off years ago for the almighty buck. Seems to be the American way. Who cares if someone cheated or did something illegal as long as someone made some money off of it. As for Bonds, we now live in a society where no one wants to take responsibility for something they did wrong. McGuire sitting in front of the congressional inquiry board and refusing to answer direct questions was about his own steroid use is as low as it got. Bonds little catch me if you can game is weak. If you enhanced your abilities by the use of drugs, or any device, then admit and let the game deal with it and move on. MLB profited by turning their heads in the late 90's as baseballs were soaring out of the parks at record numbers. They had to get the fans back in the stands somehow after numerous strikes and threatened walkouts over the past years. What a shame that a true sportsman like Aaron had to see his record fall to a drug user.

Where is PB2 at LOZ?
;D PB2 is short for Public Beach #2. It's been called that for so long I can't even remember when it wasn't called that. If you have a lake map it's now called the Grand Glaize Receation area. It's off of Hwy 54 in Osage beach. There are numerous hotels on Hwy 54 along with some resorts close to PB2. Here's a few off the top of my head Town and Country Hotel. On the highway, no dock or ramp facilities. Electric for boat hookups. Kapilana Resort. About 3 miles by water from PB2, docks and ramp. Edgewater Beach Resort. Ramp and docks. Golden Door. On the highway, no ramp or docks. Boat parking with electric. Kalfran Lodge. A little further from PB2. Large resort with ramp and docks. Sherwood resort. Right at the Grand Glaize bridge. Very cheap but the place is a dive. Free boat slip at Bridgewater marina. Hope they turn the electric on for ya and wait till you see the ramp and the walk from the marina to the resort! Paradise cove. I think this place is still in business. Smaller with ramp and docks. Close to PB2 Temple resort. I think they're still in business. Ramp with dock. Probably the closest to PB2. Sunset Beach Resort. Not exactly close to PB2 but in Osage beach. They do cater to fishermen. There's also Robins resort but I think they're trying to cater to an upper scale clientele. Lazy Days condominiums is right next to PB2 but they can be pricey. There are a number of other Condo complexes that rent but they can get pricey. Hawks Nest is one that comes to mind. Sadly, as has been the case at LOZ for the past 10 years, resorts have been getting bulldozed by the developers for condo complexes so there are few left. Good luck.

Opinion on shorter rods
There's likely very little difference in usable length of the rod between a 5'6" pistol grip rod and a 6' casting rod. The difference in length between those rods is mostly handle length, which really doesn't effect casting that much. Put the 2 rods side by side, and line them up by the reel seat. Then see how much longer one rod is over the other. This is true. Line up a typical 6'6" trigger rod, doesn't matter which one, with a 6' pistol grip rod and the actual length of the rod shaft is nearly the same.

barry bonds may be cheating...
If you're going to accept this as a legitimate record then I'd suggest letting Pete Rose into the Hall of Fame. Why should anyone care? Baseball withholding Rose's membership into the hall over the gambling charges is a joke if they turn around and close their eyes while dozens of players are shooting up.

Opinion on shorter rods
There is absolutely nothing wrong with fishing a rod shorter than 6'. General purpose rods longer than 6' weren't the norm for anything other than flippin or C-riggin in the 80's and into the early 90's.

Looking for T-handle hatch locks
They may not be available anymore. You might want to think about changing them to Perko style locks. This guy has used bass boat parts at reasonable prices. http://stores.ebay.com/OZARK-BOAT-PARTS_BOAT-PARTS_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ2QQftidZ2QQtZkm

Do you have the boat tilted up at all to facilitate the draining process?

barry bonds may be cheating...
Which is why I don't care much for baseball, or many other pro sports anymore. Selling the integrity of the game away for a buck is about as low as you can go. What does that say about "America's pasttime"??

barry bonds may be cheating...
If, the scientology of the device is true, according to the article, in theory yes. As the article indicated, Bonds, without the device in the homerun derbies isn't any better than anyone else even though he's basically getted served up softball type pitches. He's incapable of reproducing the same swing plane everytime he takes a cut at the ball. It's no different than a golfer using a device that would allow him to reproduce the swing plane the same way everytime he comes up to hit the ball. The reason golf is such a difficult sport to master is because the swing requires pretty precise timing of body mechanics. Trying to reproduce that everytime you strike the ball is difficult. Even the pro's have streaks where they just lose control of their swing mechanics.

3rd Annual BR.com roadtrip- location
Just a thought, you might want to consider changing geographic locations from year to year. One year Texas, the next bama/GA/FL, the next CA, MO/KY/Tenn next, etc. I think you'd get a variety of participants from year to year if the lakes were closer to members geographically and rotated from year to year. Since it seems like gas is now going to cost at least $2.50 a gallon or more in the forseeable future, that is now one of the biggest expenses of the trip especially if you're going to tow a boat.

Need Topwater Rod Suggestions
I've got an old BPS Bionic blade, 6' med action IM6 rod, pistol grip I purchased from a guy selling some of Stacy Kings old rods. I've had this rod for like 6 years now and it's absolutely perfect for me as far as throwing topwaters of any type. I can't ever imagine getting something else. It's a med power but the rod action would probably be described as fast.

Got a new 5500C3 give to me the other day :)
The 5500 is a good learning reel. There's fewer casting aids on it so you'll have to learn the art of thumb spool control. Once you get that reel down the others will be easy.

3rd Annual BR.com roadtrip- location
LOZ in March would be killer. You wouldn't need to bring much tackle. Mostly jerkbait rods and a selection of jackets. Doubtful you'd see any giant TX. sized fish but 7 - 8 lbers a real possibility. Could snow though.
