Need help with Lowrance transducer....
Yep, does sound like a bad one out of the box and it's probably the transducer. One item, check the xducer cable and make sure nothing got pinched, crimped or cut when you deployed the TM.

Is high priced rods really worth it??
Once you start getting above $200 dollars for a rod you start to lose the ROI. The added sensitivity, if any, you'd get from a $350 rod over a $150 rod doesnt' justify the increased chance of rod breakage due to the extremely thin walled construction of the uber rods. Lifetime warranty or not, the last thing I want is a fishing trip ruined due to a broken rod. OTOH, when you're talking about a rod like a BPS tourney special or Wally world $40 special vs say an Extreme or a Pro Qualifier or any rods like the Falcon cara, AS team series, Quantum PT or Shimano Crucial and you're talking night and day in sensitivity.

Worth selling 2 rods for 1 better quality rod?
Lemme tell you, if you're 19 and in that much pain when fishing you need to see a doctor. While reducing the weight of your fishing equipment is a good thing, I can't imagine you'll be able to cast a snoopy rod when you're 30 if you're having that much trouble now.

Browning Midas Reel
For $100? Here's what I see you're getting. Aluminum frame 9 bearing system Pretty decent drag system Dual mag/Centrifugal braking system. Decent line capacity On the downside, at 9.5oz the reel seems a tad on the heavy side. There's also little long term reliability reviews on the reel. Then again, there's not much long term reliability reviews on the Revo's either. If you're really stoked about the reel I'd say go for it. For the money you're getting plenty of features.

Money Order on Ebay
Yep, USPS MO's only. I accidently listed a reel on ebay once with a buy it now but had the money orders accepted button clicked. The guy who bought it now lived in Australia! 2 weeks later I got a money order from the guy. It was drawn on an international bank so thankfully it didn't turn out to be a problem. I took Money orders for a while and then quit. Yes, Paypals fees are outrageous and I'm always amazed at how they can instantly take money from my bank account but it takes 4 days to put money from my Paypal account into my bank. > Anyway, I got tired of the hassles of waiting on folks to send MO's. Too many made too many excuses on their delays so I stopped.

Help me pickout a new rod..
You can get a Team All star rod for around $120. If you look around on Ebay, a little cheaper. Here's one here, pretty cheap shipping, it's new and only at $11.90 bid right now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=110154260906&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=001

Replace the floor?
Actually, a 24" long section of flooring that's soft wouldn't exactly be a "small" section of flooring. Considering your usage of the boat, I'd really hate to tell you to start tearing things up. I'm afraid you'll probably find more internal damage (water logged flotation and a rotted stringer(s) than what you're feeling. Since it's basically just a junk type boat used for blood sporting I wouldn't mess with it till your foot goes through the floor. At than point I'd just lay some new wood over it and not get much further involved.

Re-birth of a boat line?
As I understand it, home mortgage defaults are at record levels. Too many people went for those teaser rate ARM's and since the index rates those loans are based on went up, so went the monthly mortgage payments. The first thing to go when you're struggling to make a new, higher mortgage payment is the boat loan, which explains the glut of newer used boats that have been on the market since the first of the year. In my recollections, I really can't recall ever seeing more than a couple bee boats in and around Missouri. I also can't for the life of me tell you where you could go in this area to buy one back when they were still in business. The upfront costs for that company are going to be huge. Trying to build brand awareness in a market like boats is expensive and time consuming. Hope those investors have deep pockets.

Re-birth of a boat line?
I suppose that depends on what size that's based on. If it's a 19 footer, than 30k would be an entry level price. If it's an 18, then it really isn't. It's also relative, if the Phoenix line is some sort of gold plated, uber bass boat than 30k would be cheap. This buy-out rumour has been going on since the first of the year. BumbleBee had shut their doors then. I've always heard those boats were well made but had become very dated. Apparently the company couldn't afford to freshen their line. Rather a regional following without a good dealer network. Hard to see this company going anywhere in this economy right now.

If finances would allow would you?
I'd only buy if you can afford to wait till a better time of the year to unload your old boat. From now until next spring isnt' the time.

Speedometer problem
The biggest waste of dash space in a boat, the speedometer and a trim gauge.

Boat Test Ride!!
The 150 ProV's are merely restricted 200hp motors. You can spend around $1200 and buy a stage one kit from Hydra Tech marine (authorized Yammie rebuilders) and turn your engine into a 200. That boat will easily handle it. As for the compression test, if you're not familiar with doing it I'd advise spending the money to take it to a marine mechanic.

Boat Test Ride!!
Check the compression but those late 80's - early 90's ProV's were workhorses. Very upgradeable BTW. If it's a 18 footer it's probably a 184 like I've got. Just check the transom and make sure it's sound. That model is one of the great running hull designs of all time. Drives like a sportscar. It runs better with a 175hp. Expect middish to upper 50's with the right prop.

What's this reel worth guys?
With all the goodies I wouldn't be surprised to see that fetch $300 +.

My new boat!!!!
Incredible shape. Here's a few facts I pulled up from the 1986 BPS master catalog. Original price of the boat with the 90hp, lowest package they had. $8,995. Touted as a 45mph boat with that motor. 17' 10" length 1020 hull weight 86" beam Max HP 150 The boat originally came with tinted windshields and a full width bench seat. That color combo is really unusual. Most of them came in the dark Met. Gray with red striping. They must have opted for an optional color upgrade. From what I've heard, the boat is really difficult to dial in with a 150hp motor. The hull has a very narrow sweet spot and anything beyond hitting it makes for an interesting drive. With the 90 it should be relatively docile.

Bringing balance to The Force
I just saw one of those new Metaniums on another forum. The guy had used it like once or twice and didn't like it. He was asking $290.
