  1. You'd have thought the drugs would've been enough. Would he have even hit half the homers without steroids and mechanical aids?
  2. I have three of them. Absolutely one of the best bargains out there and they are absolutely one of the best rods I've ever thrown a crankbait on.
  3. both boats are old. If both boats have been well cared for I'd choose the glass rig over tin because of ride, comfort and storage. Potential pitfalls for both. Old Aluminum boats can and do leak. Especially trackers. They can also have rot since parts of any tin boat have wood in them. Old glass boats can have rot in the transom and stringer system. Take a real close look at that before deciding. Good luck.
  4. If that's one of the old style, dash mount circular flashers, Lowrance now makes a LCD replacement in-dash flasher that sells for around $200. As Mike said, flashers provide real time readings and are better to use with a thru-hull transducer for depth readings when you're under power.

Good point. Lets start handing them out in high school and junior highs. Agreed. If a hero like Barry takes them, why not our kids?

congrats to Barry. Now young kids everywhere can take dangerous, performance enhancing drugs and know that it can pay off in the future. Here's to no asterik in the books either, Aaron missed the boat by not shooting up.
  7. Those oil tank sensors can be screwy regardless of the brand. The one on my yamaha failed to read the tank was full and never told the pump to quit pumping. It was popping the thing right of of the tank and then oil would overflow into the engine compartment. I had an oil slick following me wherever I went till I figured out what was going on.
  8. Amistad is 1100 miles from my house. Too far for me if I decide to go on this deal. How about Seminole or Eufaula?
  9. Interesting. I thought this was going to be a lighter weight version of the STX but it isn't. This is only a 6 bearing drive model vs the STX's 10. So I'm paying $60 (retail) more for 4 fewer bearings but 2.3oz lighter weight difference? I'm sorta disappointed.
  10. I'm not saying you need a dozen rods and reels to fish either. What I am saying is if you're currently fishing with very inadequate equipment or none at all and you have a budget, say $400, that you don't blow the whole thing on one rod and reel but rather, divide that amount and get 2 rigs that cover the spectrum of methods you'll possible use. How you decide what those 2 best rigs are is dependant on where you spend the majority of the time fishing.
  11. I've got a pair of Revo S reels I got 1 year old used. Seriously, I can't tell the difference between them and a new one. Still silky smooth and functionally perfect.
  12. I'm a longtime Garcia guy but when I had to switch to LP's from round reels due to my hands, the previous line of LP reels from that company left a lot to be desired. It just seemed as though they were throwing something out there to appease the LP people. Not that their LP's were that bad but they certainly weren't designed or built in the same vein as the perenial favorite round reels. I'm still using a couple 2005LP's and a 3006 Torno that are several years old and in great shape both in appearance and function but they're not the same as my new Revo's. It's clear with the Revo's that they've spent the time and money to build a LP right.
  13. Bats flying right around me get to me at times. Even though I know they won't run into me, that little flitting noise they make as they pass right by my head can be a little un-nerving at times.
  14. Usually, I'm fishing familiar water so I'm hitting the high percentage areas. Yesterday, I fished an electric only lake for the first time. I was relying on electronics. Caught a 4lber in deep water on a C-rig. Then I got off the lake before I got cajun blackened style. I suppose, depending on the time of the year and where I'm at, I could mark all of those.
  15. Here's a speed boat, I suppose you could fish off of it Here's another, Plenty of deck space, a place to sleep but a real beatch to launch at some of the ramps I go to.
  16. I've used the ones I got from FiveBassLimit (scott). They work great but I don't think they're suitable for spinning rods. Anybody know what that stuff is called they make those out of, it's some sort of polyproplene webbing.
  17. I don't even care about the C & R aspect of the deal or the kitchen photo's. I've personally experienced a couple bass waters, both around 1 1/2 acre ponds that friends owned that were literally fished out when they let other friends come in and fish and take the fish they wanted. Ponds that used to have decent bass populations that I had fun catching were basically stripped clean. It can happen. That's what the poster was not grasping.
  18. I'm the same way. Living in a city like St. Louis without good, big water nearby doesn't help. LOZ is about 165 miles from my house, when you factor in gas at $3 for the truck + boat gas I can't afford to just run down there like I used to.
  19. Exactly, I would rather have one good setup than a dozen pieces of junk. One of the guys I fish with broke a new rod on the first cast. I asked him about it and he smiled and said, "Clearance at Wal-Mart only a few bucks." I'm sitting there with a few $400 setups catching fish and he never had a bite that he could feel. But buying one quality rod and reel, which basically blows the budget, isn't the same as buying the right tools for the job. If you're a new angler wanting to get into fishing and you fix your rod and reel budget to a certain price. Going out and blowing the whole wad on one rod and reel isn't going to be very feasible nor rewarding. If I go out and spend the entire amount, say $400 on one medium action rod and one reel I've just limited my fishing experience. It's rare that a single rod can be all to every fishing method out there. Most fall way short. It would be better to buy a couple of $200 outfits, one medium and one medium hvy, in order to cover as many bases, as far as fishing techniques as possible.
  20. Ya know, just as you've found out by buying a used reel from me, you can do the same with higher end rods on these forums. Ebay is another place that carries some of the higher end stuff though I tend to like to purchase rods off these forums vs Ebay.
  21. Concrete can be poured underwater by someone who knows what they're doing.
  22. What are you doing to treat the plywood before putting the carpet down?
  23. Check the forums and Ebay. You can pickup a Revo S for under $90 if you're not in a hurry and a Revo SX for $120 or less.
