  1. The only thing I get from ebay anymore are original wiggle warts and occasionally some plastics. As for the wiggle warts, no bass fishermen in his right mind will part with any originals he has in his possesion so the only way to get most of the most popular colors is from there.
  2. Have you tried calling your local Nitro dealer and asking them?
  3. I got it for the first couple years the mag was out. Lots of boat hot rodding articles, pretty good boat reviews but I agree, the price was more than the content was worth. From the issues I've seen recently, there's less in it now than back then.
  4. Basically, teleflex has been in the business so long no one has ever come close to giving them competition. Your choices are the primo gauge companies or go with manufacturer gauges which are often teleflex gauges in disguise.
  5. Not sure about the year on the boat. That could just as easily be an error by NADA. As for the boat. Almost all boats back then were constructed with wood structural support in the transom, stringers and usually deck. On that Skeeter you REALLY need to look very closely at the transom for rot. That vintage Skeeter was troublesome for rotted out transoms. As for the motor. I've always been told that Suzuki's were great motors when they ran right. If they didn't run right............ No idea of the max hp on that model either. 115 is probably it or it might be 90.
  6. Well, you can go to most photo sites like photobucket, create an account, upload the picture you want to use, then click on the picture at photobucket and it'll give you the web address you need to insert into the user option portion of your profile. Those photo sites are free btw. http://photobucket.com/
  7. I've had just the opposite service. I've lost track of all the rods and reels I've shipped over the last 2 1/2 years using USPS but I've never had one lost or miss delivered. Now that's using USPS Priority mail, OTOH, if you use parcel post to ship you take your merchandise in your hands. A guy I bought some reels from shipped them parcel 2 1/2 weeks ago and they still aren't here. I had some other reels come from Bull Shoals Arkansas to my house, distance about 260 miles, and it took 2 weeks. I could've rode a horse there and back faster. As for rods, I've had USPS crush a couple tubes with only some minor damage a couple times. OTOh, I've had UPS and Fedex absolutely destroy some PVC tubes that rods came in. What's sad is these things are supposed to be moved through their process via hand due to their length. How something hand delivered gets snapped in half is a mystery.
  8. If you don't have the original windshields it's then a matter of measuring the width, the length of the wings and then how tall you want the windshield. If this is a contoured console you'll most certainly have to take the boat to them in order to find something to fit. I can't say for sure but if you call them, see if they made the windshields for the Nitro's of that year. They apparently have the mold measurements on file for every boat they built them for.
  9. Yep, every outboard I've ever owned had it's own little eccentricities, especially when it came to cold starting and operation. Some needed more warm up then others.
  10. It's worse now. A Chinese comglomerate has bought the majority share of the consumer electronics division from Thomson. RCA's are basically just some Chinese junk now and I do mean junk. Too make matters worse, this new conglomerate no longer feels the need to support RCA stuff sold less than 10 years ago so don't be surprised if you're an RCA owner needing repair on a 6 or 7 year old TV and the repair shop comes back and says the parts are NLA.
  11. Just so you know, that company made windshields for many of the boat manufacturers. IIRC, you send your current WS to them and they make a copy. I believe a pair for my Champion will cost around $150 shipping not included.
  12. I work on these things for a living. Here's my 2 cents worth on the matter. Plasma's - Don't buy if you're a gamer, they are susceptable to burn-in. Whether the set has a white wash feature or not you'll be spending time running the feature if you spend some time gaming. They do get hot. Picture quality is the best of the new types of sets but they do have a slightly higher failure rate than say an LCD. BUY THE SERVICE CONTRACT. LCD's - They've come down in price but they're still the most expensive per square inch of viewing area. Pixel lag or response time, whatever you want to call it, is still an issue and I'm talking about even the most expensive, fastest response time LCD's. It's just an inherit nature of that technology that will never change. The sets do get warm. OK for gamers except the pixel lag issue. BUY THE SERVICE CONTRACT. DLP, LCD, LED rear projectors - Since you're going with only a 42" screen this would be an option but not the first choice. DLP's and LCD rear projectors still use lamps which blow out. At $200 and up for a new lamp, it's an expensive maintenance item though it is customer replaceable. The LED projector by Samsung is too new in the field to make a call on. No lamp but they also don't make it in a 42". Watching a DLP set you're susceptable to seeing a rainbow effect. Not everyone can see it but it is definitely bothersome for those that can. LCD sets also suffer from the same lag that the their flat panel counterparts suffer from, just on a different scale. On all three of these sets you will have viewing angle issues. BUY THE SERVICE CONTRACT. If I was buying I'd buy a Plasma. Of course, I'm not a gamer, if I was I'd probably go for an LCD if you're only talking about a 42" screen size. As for brands? Avoid any company that you've never heard of. Any company that was around a long time ago and suddenly is now back in business again like Westinghouse, Admiral or Crosley. Avoid Best Buy's Insignia brand unless you buy a service contract and don't mind being without a set for awhile. Stick with names like Panasonic, Mitsubishi, Sony, Samsung, LG, Zenith, Toshiba or JVC. Name brands to avoid: Philips and especially RCA!

  14. Still on sale. Just got 2 myself. Did you guys get the extra $10 off via the Garcia rebate? A printable form is listed on the SC reel description page. You can get $10 off each Garcia reel, up to 2 per household, making the final price $69.95 + S/H!!
  15. If that 5500C is in good shape it would fetch a pretty decent price on Ebay. That's a 70's model.
  16. If you're considering using this for soft plastics I'd hold off and save your money and get a BPS Extreme. They're far more sensitive. As for the tourney specials. I've fished with them. They're well built but they're like most BPS rods, heavier than the competitions. The Tourney specials aren't particularly sensitive either. Good for crankbaits, spinnerbaits or topwaters.
  17. I haven't fished with one but the two Advantages I have handled were well made reels and quite sweet. If I decided to do a massive changeover in my crankin rods the Advantage 150P in the low speed gear ratio is definitely one I'd have on the top of the list.
  18. My dad taught me how to drive some 35 years ago in a 1971 Ford Pinto with a stick. Driving an automatic is so boring, I missed my stick as soon as I sold it and still do. There's nothing like being involved with driving a vehicle beyond just steering, braking and accelerating.
  19. Captain, I've found you'll do a lot better if you tell'em you have a boat. Since it's a lie, make sure you say it's pretty with a big motor and plenty of room for her to lay out and tan.
  20. There have been a number of reports about gas fumes coming from the rod lockers when the boat has been stored. Multiple brands of boats so it's not just one brand. It appears the problem may be the plastic tanks used and gas fumes permeating it and filling any forward hold area with the odor. The most common fix is to just leave the rod lockers open when the boat is in storage.
  21. I use it on one of my two worm rods, on my C-rig rod as the main line though I use mono or Flouro for the leader and on my flippin/pitchin stick. I've used the stuff since it first came out and it definitely has as many advantages as disadvantages. Superior feel especially with a uber sensitive rod but the line wrap issue is annoying along with the abrasive resistance. Backlashes, line loops, line dig in along with the inability to break off easy when you need to are more minuses.
  22. Get out of St. Louis, move somewhere south very, very close to water.
  23. I love driving a stick. My last truck had one but I sold it for an auto because of having to drive back and forth everyday in traffic. Now with the new job I don't have the traffic but I don't have my stick anymore either. Practice, practice, practice. You'll get it.
  24. Muddy gay? Feminine? Yeah, right. ;D The Brooklyn Horn dog! Don't take off muddy, I'm sure there's ways to silence that lamb via the internet.
  25. I haven't owned a pool in a few years but it sounds like at some point water flow is being restricted to the pump and it begins dry sucking which overheats it. I realize you say you've backwashed but are you certain you don't have some sort of clog in the line somewhere? BTW, when was the last time the filter sand (or whatever you're using) was changed?
