  1. Please don't take this the wrong way, I am truly not being sacastic. I am interested in how you managed to pull that boat at age 14. Did you work a bunch of summers, or get help from the folks? What did you do? In the state of Missouri, he not only couldn't drive the boat to the lake but he couldn't run it on the water without a Guardians presence. Not too mention, where does a 14 year old get the money to buy a $50,000 boat?
  2. I've been getting Bassmaster since 1974 and they never put prices in on the tackle edition, or the Bassboat edition, rod n reels or any other. All they'd be able to print would be Suggested retail anyway which usually isn't what the lures are selling for anyway.
  3. I'm thinking of making one this winter as well similar to kb's but a little more square in design.
  4. They're both fine boats. Decide what you want in a bassboat and choose accordingly. Take each of them out for a test spin and put them through the paces. Don't spend all your time on the water running the boat, stop and mentally play out in your mind your methods of fishing and mannerisms and how the layout of each of the boats fits how you fish. Actually shut down, get up and think how fishing in that rig would be like. If you needed a rod is the compartment easy to open and convenient for you, how about getting something out of a storage box, what about livewells? When you're spending that kind of money you're making a longterm commitment, my personal preferences in a boat are going to be completely different than yours. Just know that most of the major brands are building fine boats that will last a long time. The engine manufacturers are doing the same, in the end it's in the details and that's for you to decide. Good luck.
  5. I've whipped up some pretty strong solutions before but I've never had an issue with it causing a bubbling problem with the gelcoat. It is possible that your gel is just about shot in the area you're dealing with and your down to the undercoat which is just above the fiberglass matting.
  6. Uhh... I guess I should've added that I dilluted the sno-bowl with water. Cuts some of the foaming action but it allows you to leave it on there. If worse comes to worse you can wet-sand the stain out. Go to most any auto body parts store and pickup some wet sandpaper in grits starting at 1000 and going up to 2000. Get a sanding block at the same time. I'd start at about 1600, sand one of the areas. Use back and forth motions, NOT circular. If that takes it out you can clean the area up with a polishing compound. You'll want to get some of this sandpaper anyway if you're planning on trying to refinish the top cap on that boat.
  7. As LBH said. Better check with your local agencies as to the whats, wheres and hows of this deal. Since you didn't say what you've got to work with any attempt to dam any type of stream, creek or dry wash leaves you at a potential liability risk to anyone below you should said dam fail. Even if it's merely a big hole dug in the ground you hold the same risks to liability and regulations as someone installing an inground pool. Check this out first.
  8. Nice hoo and King you got there. Yep, Saltwater fishing is addictive and there is sooooooo much to learn.
  9. Now, now PinkFloyd. See what happens when you give in and go to one of those high school parties and start drinkin.
  10. Exactly right. Composites are the hot thing right now but can deteriorate as well. Once water gets in, mold and bacteria can begin eating away at them just like wood.
  11. I used to family camp at Rend Lake in Illinois and a 2 dayer in that lake left my white hull stained brown. Here's how I got mine sparkling white. Use that toilet bowl cleaner called sno-bowl or tidy bowel. I can't remember exactly which it is. It's got that weird nozzel that allows you to get up under the rim. Now, if you really want to brighten that thing up add a little clorox in with it... WARNING!!! MAKE SURE YOUR HEAD IS TURNED AWAY FROM THE BUCKET WHILE POURING THE BLEACH IN WITH THE TIDY BOWL!!!! CAUSTIC FUMES WILL OCCUR!!!!
  12. Ok, since you didn't like the "return it" answer .... That's the way it is, you bought a cheap trolling motor so live with the vibration. You might want to make a trip to the dentist to have your fillings secured.
  13. You're really looking at the pixel count on an LCD graph. The more pixels the more defined the picture you'll have to view. Most of the lower end units that run for around $100-150 are fine for the front of the boat but when you're doing more detailed fish finding when running the boat you'll want a better graph for the console. I'm neither here nor there on color units. I've not seen any overwhelming reason to pay the price difference for color over B&W.
  14. As W2S said, the transducer has to be epoxied to the hull in a spot where the hull will be underwater. I don't know of many fiberglass bassboats that have access to the bottom of the hull at the spot you'd need to mount that without cutting an access hole and even then it may all be for naught.
  15. I've been to Gettysburg one time. Hallowed ground for sure and very awe inspiring. It's a National treasure everyone should visit at least once. I took a trip up in the old observation tower, it certainly gave a good view of the entire battlefield but I must say I'm glad they tore it down. It was an eyesore on the battlefield. Great pix.

  17. Some people take their internet porn seriously!
  18. 1 guy to call it string, not line. 2 guys to inform that guy that it's called line, not string. 1 guy to make a smart azz remark comparing fishing with braided line to fishing with string. 2 guys to then post ;D 's 3 guys to then attack the smart azz guy and expend a page and a half on the benefits of braided line. 4 guys then claiming braid sucks and monofilament rules. 1 moderator to jump in and throw a bucket of cold water on everyone.

  20. If Chris is only using spinning equipment than he's obviously using braid on them. He seems pretty passioned about that. BTW, I'm not sure what the problem is with anglers attempting to use baitcasters. Todays reels are about as easy to learn on as they've ever been with the problems of backlash nearly non-existant if you spend a few hours in the back yard practice casting. I've tried braid on spinning reels and didn't like it. Others don't feel that way. It has it's time and place. I'd suggest picking up a spool and rigging a rod with it and trying it out. If you don't like it you're only out around $10-12. True Most embedding problems on baitcasters happen when you're pulling on a hung lure and occasionally on a hookset or the pull of a large fish. It's a little less likely to happen on a spinning reel since the line passes over the bail but I suppose it can happen. yes. Those are issues long ago addressed by the rod and reel industry.
  21. I pull my batteries and put them in the garage. I run them on the charger every once in awhile.
  22. That's a 184DC. Make sure you walk the floor looking for soft spots and definitely check out the integrity of the transom. $3k is a pretty good price for that boat. The 184 is a great running boat and one of the best Champion produced. I should know.
  23. Well, they put those in there to help with the crappie. They've been in there for quite a few years. (The lake was originally impounded in 1971).
  24. Cute kids. I'll bet they had fun. Had this been a post by muddy, I'd have expected different content.
