  1. ;D Uh huh... : Give the those guys the same kind of training along with advancements in sports medicine that's available now and they'd wipe the butts of most teams out there now. Great athletes are great athletes, the only difference is the time and era they were great in.
  2. Although I agree with most of the responses on here, I have one question for you. Can you name me a single activity that those that were at the top of their game back in the 80's still are today? Chess maybe... but certainly not anything physical. Golf? Not hardly. Car racing? Naw... I find it sad how the older guys (i.e. Bill Elliot, Mark Martin, ect.) still try to compete beyond their years. Football, basketball, baseball? Nope, nope and nope. I do not think this lack in performance has anything to do with skill or equipment. It is more a result of human 'nature', for a lack of a better word. We, as a species, have a rather small window to perform well at any physical/mental task at peak performance. But with that said... I would hardly call the winners so far this year in the B.A.S.S. events 'young'. Most were either in their 30's and 40's. My $0.02 Yep. Not too mention a little thing called desire and the competitive edge. Once you reach a pinnacle like a Clunn or a Roland Martin your time is so much more taken up with NON-fishing related activities, primarily because you're obligated due to the success level you've reached. It's rare anyone can maintain that same level of performance year after year. Young anglers are still striving to reach that level, the desire burns great in the young jedi. Yep. There are more people following bass fishing due to greater exposure on TV thus, more sponsors willing to back anglers because of that.
  3. Same here. If I last fished the week before and the majority of my equipment is still in the boat I can spend enough time to pull the cover off, hitch up and go.l Otherwise it might take a little more time. Depending on where I'm goin.
  4. What exactly has he done to be disrespectful to the fans or the sport?
  5. Performance is still in business.
  6. I should mention that's for a 3 blade. I don't know about 4 blades. My place is B&B propeller in Valley Park, Missouri. You could go to a place that's closer to me, Maazco. John Mazar is well known for his high performance props and also does repairs though his prices are probably the highest in town. B & B - 636-225-2261
  7. The cheapest in my area for damage like you've got is around $80-100. $25-35 extra if you want it polished.
  8. I got one years ago. It was one of the first designs out and is no longer made that way. It was a little cumbersome to use but the good features were I could pull the TM off the boat whenever. No more worries about theft and when we family camped it was convenient to pull the thing off the bow when we went skiing or tubing. The newer models appear to be made a little more user friendly.
  9. So then the question becomes, The aluminum boat is great for the majority of the fishing I do most of the year, how suitable is it for those few trips you take to TX each year? If the answer is the TX trips are a must but the aluminum boat isn't the best to be on in those TX lakes I'd say the fiberglass would be the choice. Just remember that despite the better comfort, ride and storage the fiberglass offers it also requires more maintenance to keep it looking good than an aluminum and is heavier resulting in more gas burned throughout the year just going to and from your local lakes. I fish a lot of conservation lakes that are hp limited. Still though, the fiberglass boat just works better for me. It's hard to give up the stability and soundness of a fiberglass boat for the alternative though I have been looking at some of the newer aluminums that have fiberglass like rides.
  10. I said 7 and it's only because I just can't remember back all the years. It happened on the road trip at KY lake. I had gone down to the boat to pull my rods out for the day and decided to toss a jig along the jetty. The first cast resulted in a 15" keeper. I continued to toss along the same place and continued to catch a bass on the next 6 casts. The 8th cast resulted in no bite. 9th cast, another fish. I quit after that.
  11. Only one. I wish I knew then what I know now and could go back to my senior year in high school and re-approach a very pretty blonde named Cindy Gallion again. Man, I'd do things a whole lot different!
  12. I gave up fishing for a couple years in the early 80's for golf. I got it down to a 10-12 handicap. Then I plateaued. It's a frustrating game in that it's almost completely based on the swing mechanics. You're either on it or you aren't and trying to figure out why you aren't is the tough part. I still have my clubs, wood, not metal drivers and all. The grips on my irons are shot and I'd have to buy new ones to really play the game again. I've probably shot 10 total rounds in the nearly 25 years since I put the clubs down and picked my rods up again. I can't say that I really miss it. I have taken my sons to the driving range over the years and taught them the mechanics. I can still strike the ball pretty good though the consistency of my drives isn't as good as it was. I've lost a little distance to age too.
  13. Hey I'm 27 years old and I'm already looking for a hat like that. My baseball caps are just to hot in the hot humid summer months here. My late grandmother used to work out in the yard allot and she sported a wide collection of them. I guess when I get one I have to make sure it's in manly camo color. That's a better idea than Mike knocking down an old lady and taking hers.
  14. I have a side box smoker I just got and I have my 3 burner gas grill. My gas grill has the advantage of being able to use charcoal, chunk wood charcoal or wood chips while you slow cook meat. I save the side box for real smoking.
  15. Dumb and probably been answered a hundred times question: JJ's really does not bleed all over other baits?? When using spike it if you dye a few strands of a spinnerbait red the whole skirt turns pink or if you dye the tail of a worm chart then put the bait back in the bag then all the other baits get yellow spots on them. The other problem with spike it is when using on some plastics it will instantly eat them.I have had tails and claws fall off and you must throw it in the water quickly after application. Does JJ do this too?? To the original poster: Mend it is an incredible product.I would buy it even it it cost twice as much. I have fixed a couple hundred plastic baits plus made many of my own creations on one bottle. It is especially useful for those large expensive baits that only come few per pack. If you are a swimbaiter then one or two fixed baits will instantly pay for the bottle. It takes a little practice to use effectively. It is not a glue.It melts the plastic from the inside out.If you apply to a small hole or crack it will become a large rip and fall apart.Thats okay,it is what you want.Just hold the bait together for a few seconds or even blow on it.Then apply a tiny amount on the outside for assurance if needed. After about a min or two you can actuall pull on the bait or stick a hook through it. There is a boring but informative video here: http://www.menditglue.com/ I've used both. spike it doesn't penetrate the plastic like JJ's does. Once on, I haven't had JJ's dipped baits bleed into other baits though they will smell up a bag of plastics with the garlic smell which is a good thing I suppose. As for melting. JJ's will consume 3x plastics. Melts them almost instantly.
  16. A few tips I've used over the years in smaller waters. Try and fish very early and late. Try nighttime. Fish in the rain. Small lake fish can easily become conditioned to lures moving past them so you need an edge or something different. The largest bass in that pond probably has a home base. It could be anything, a stump, old sunken bicycle, concrete brick on the bottom, anything. It may be towards the middle. You're going to have to find it or else hope you catch the big gal when she's on a feeding run. See above for that. Try presenting baits differently. Fish become conditioned to seeing lures moving along in front of them the same way over and over and learn to avoid them. Try very long casts at odd angles to the bank to give them something different to look at. Try throwing lures that you know haven't been tossed on that lake. Sometimes a lure that's never been seen before will draw strikes. Good luck.
  17. So your lake has bass that sight fish? That must be weird to see.
  18. I just checked my FAQs machine and there was nothing in it. Try resending.
  19. What exactly are you looking for? Does it have to be on the lake and just how close to St Louis?
  20. Rather than telling us you KNOW the battery cables and plug is hooked up right, why not explain to us HOW you know that? Get out a voltmeter, measure the voltage going to TM and is the polarity correct. Otherwise you'll have to take it back to where you got it.
  21. I tackled a little old lady and took it away from her. With the exception of that trailer ball perched on the end of my nose, the hat shades my entire head. Besides, I lost my coon-skin cap. That explains it. The first thing I thought was, "Where are the flowers that were in the hat band?"

  23. What's with that hat?
