  1. The Fenwicks are good. I'd personally recommend an All Star Platinum, P786C. Cabela's has them at $129 right now with free shipping. I have 2 of these and love them.
  2. I don't think I'd be using 10" worms. From the reports I've read, the fish are now in the spawning mode. The usual C-rig pattern down there is some sort of soft plastic, brush hog, space monkey, french fry, creature bait, fished on the small points at the mouths of the housekeeping spawning pockets. The points will usually have pea gravel on them. Do not toss up into shallower water unless you want to catch a bunch of buck males, the larger females normally hold out in slightly deeper water, 6-10feet. Also, hold the boat further out from those pockets and toss right up into the gut of the pocket and drag out.
  3. I knew those 1" anaconda's would be a killer bait. Nice fish.
  4. Fishing license in MO. is $12 a year. Cost to launch = nothing at the vast majority of the launch ramps I go to. Boat Registration fees. = $52 every 3 years. Trailer license plate = $7.50 a year or a flat $27 for a 3 year plate.
  5. Get yourself a frame mounted hitch. Walmart has a number of models for less than $150 and they're easy to install. Don't trust the bumper.
  6. I own 4 JM sig reels. The gold reels is basically a sig reel with an extra bearing and has been lightened by changing to a duraluminum main gear and some slots and vents cut into the frame. They also use a different handle. I like my sig reels but they are on the big side and heavy. For the money you'd spend on sale for the Gold reel, there are other reels out there that will perform just as good as it but for less money.
  7. Is this the new TAS crankbait series they've introduced? I've been thinking of upgrading from my Classic GT2's.
  8. Don't worry about it CJ, I called down to the lodge several weeks before the road trip about the electricity along with boat parking and relayed in this thread what I was told by the person at the lodge. Most of what she said to me was true. I seem to recall I mentioned making sure everyone had plenty of extension cords and 3-ways. I guess the only bad part was all the outlets were on poles close to the lodge which so happens to be the best spots for cars to park.

  10. Yep. From the Kenlake st PK boat ramp all the way around to the boat dock holds a bunch of fish.
  11. My guess would be it has to go through the Louisville distribution center first.
  12. I have some Sig series JM reels and like them very much. But, even on sale at $229, I can't see spending that kind of money on a reel that big or heavy. It's a modified sig series reel they've trimmed the weight on but not the size. You can get a Pflueger Patriarch on Ebay for around $150-160 that does everything the Gold series does, is lighter and has a smaller footprint on the rod.
  13. Just $4000 for the boat? Hmmmm.... He could part the thing out for more than that.
  14. Very fast boats due to the tunnel V construction. If the waves are over about 2 feet, you'll be in for a vertebrae compressing ride. Also known to blow over if Horse-powered enough and the equipments design and ride characteristics aren't respected. Blow over as in You'll be alright with a 150 though. Go over to Scream and Fly, there are some guys more familiar with the brand over there.

  17. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1241360958 According to CJ in this thread, the lake is rising fast and could be way up into the tree's by this weekend. After spending a week on that lake on the road trip I can say that's an incredible fishery. I used to think LOZ would be tough to beat but KY lake is amazing.
  18. http://www.conservationcafe.com/Fishing/report_detail.asp?state=26&report=3582 Looks like the fish are getting ready to spawn and the C-rig pattern is working well.
  19. Power drives = a great idea that was never refined for everyday bass fishing. If you fish a lot of open water or electric only lakes they make sense. Otherwise......no.
  20. I have a 50lb AT on my little boat that I've had for at least 10 years. The Edge is the next generation AT basically. Those models are true work horses. It should serve you well.
  21. I usually use them in the spring just before the spawn. Both the Flukes and Senko's have now sorta surpassed the Sluggo's in usage by many anglers. The flukes in particular are merely descendants of the sluggo.
  22. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt, shrank it and gave it to my little brother. I always seem to do it in front of a bunch of people. Been there and done that as well but I'm raising the stupid stakes Try trailering a boat with the TM still in the water!
  23. NADA has that boat pricing out at $2800 max. Unless you are familiar with what to look for on an older fiberglass boat you might want to shy away from this one. The motor would need to be gone over by a pro as well.
  24. Congrats. That's a little bigger than the bathtub toy I bought. Here's a shot of my front deck with 50lb AT attached. I built a frame up from the front seat. BTW, to compensate for the extra weight and the middle seat I took out I shot the nose of this boat with about 2 cans of great stuff foam. I also shot under the floor with about 4 cans of the foam as well.
