  1. Shop around. $2,500 - 4,000 for the engine rebuild Might as well do it right. Double check that transom on the boat, Procrafts of that vintage were good for rotted transoms.
  2. Might as well. He no longer has a vehicle capable of pulling the boat out of the water.
  3. I would've left out the part about the backlash and merely stated you found a new "dead sticking" technique for the rage shad.
  4. The Missouri conservation department has already issued a "we screwed up" statement concerning their re-introduction of otters into state waterways. While they're such cute, playful creatures they also have a voracious appetite and have not only damaged the fisheries on some rivers but have begun seeking food elsewhere from fish farms and farm ponds. It seems they forgot about a pesky little detail like, there are no natural predators around like there were back when otters flourished to keep them in check. Otter trapping season was just started this past year thank God.
  5. The lightning is rated for 5000lb towing with 800lb payload capacity. A typical 2wd F150 for that year with a 5.4l engine is rated for roughly 8500lbs (range varies per axle ratio) and payload at 2,265. I believe a lot of the difference is the Lightning's frame is not quite as beefy as a regular F-150.
  6. I have the spool tension knob set so the lure falls without assistance and then spool rotation stops when the lure hits the ground. 2 pins on. The mag brake isn't even used unless it's windy.
  7. This pretty much covers what I was going to say.
  8. I went out today for the first time since the road trip. Wind gusting to 35mph, like KY lake all over again. I did manage to catch a 3lber plus a few smaller 12' fish on the same jig and craw I had tied on at KY. You need to go see a hypnotist. You're already thinking skunked before you even throw a lure in the water.
  9. Why not try a box of the official boxed wine of the 2009 KY Road trip?
  10. One that you pay cash for. One you have the cash to pay for repairs if it needs them and one that fits your finances so you can actually go out and use it as much as possible.
  11. Just rumor that I heard on the road trip..... after a rigorous examination of all the lakes involved, checks of seasonal patterns of fish on the lakes along with a biological study of fish populations, Glenn and the mods go into seclusion and when the black smoke comes out of the chimney, the final selection for the next road trip is made. The selection is then handed to Keri who tears it up and then makes the actual choice with the basic criteria being which lodge has the best in-room blow dryers and firmest mattresses. :ducking:
  12. As someone who's sold hundreds of used rods and reels there is no way you could keep a brick and mortar operation going on the margins you could get selling used rods and reels. You'd have to have something else to offer. Not only is the markup poor but just finding enough inventory at prices you could turn a profit on would be nearly impossible.
  13. Nice color scheme and great wife is right. Not only for giving the OK to spend that kind of coin on a boat but NO DUAL CONSOLE? Those 210's give a great ride. Congrats.
  14. As long as it was cared for it should be a good boat. That 25hp motor is rather underpowered for a hull that size.
  15. Anyway, you could easily get into a Champ 203 in that range, much less actually or the 206. The 203's are built on the older 92" beam hulls, even better in rough water than the wider 96" newer boats but you do sacrifice some storage space. Another boat worth considering are the 198 Champions. Very popular model.
  16. A new 20 footer than handles rough water well and is fairly fast but you don't want to spend $50K? Good luck. You might be able to get into an 07 Champ 210 for around $45-47k. A 20 foot basscat will push past 50k easy. Better think about used.
  17. If you mean like the ones BPS or Cabela's sells, yes, they're better. No messing with adjusting straps and the mesh stays close to the rod. I still have a few BPS ones I use for spinning rods though Stick Jacket does have larger mesh for spinning rods with big guides.
  18. what did you think that graph was going to show you?
  19. If I had more SM available to me in the lakes I fished I'd probably fish more for them.
  20. Well, you weren't hard to find Mike. Find the Franzia box and Mike won't be too far away.
  21. I fish both All Star Platinum and Titanium rods. The difference between the 2 is the Titaniums used the Titanium SIC guides. The rest of the rods are the same. I honestly can't feel a difference weight wise between the 2 rods. The profile of the Titanium guides are much lower and smaller though.
  22. I use something similar sold by member Fivebasslimit. The stick jackets are nearly the same. Great stuff. You can cram rods into the rod box and extract anyone you want nearly effortlessly. The protect the rods while they're on and you can use the mesh to hang them vertically in the off season or between trips.
