4th Annual BassResource.com Roadtrip!!!
Don't think I can let that jab pass by under the guise of humor Jimzee and I both dicussed my pics and the pic of pitchenkids fish. Those fish were really fattened up, after the spawn I would say both girls will settle around 4lbs +/-. Maybe you should have simply weighed your fish to remove speculation?? ;D Speedbead has the photo. It was bonafide. Nice fish you guys got into. Wish we could have consistently gotten into them like that for a day.

Burley's Not-So-Random Photos of the Week - Roadtrip
I even used the tried and true Roland Martin, shove the fish right into the lens of the camera method and it still looks like a pathetic dink. So much for my boat dock pattern. :

Yo-Zuri Hybrid question
I was at the KY lake road trip and was using 15lb hybrid for the first time almost exclusively the whole week. I was getting mixed results with a palomar knot. Much better results with a double clinch. The line is incredible, I was dragging a jig through rocks most of the week and the line held up great. I would advise the use of a line conditioner for casting.

Legend Boats?
I would ask BR member CJ and all the guys that rode in his Legend over the week at the KY lake road trip. We had some rough conditions down there and he went boat riding all 4 days.

4th Annual BassResource.com Roadtrip!!!
Time for a few of my own thoughts. This was my first Road trip and it won't be my last. What a great time it was finally putting the face on the screen name. Thanks to Glenn and Keri for everything, you guys were the perfect hosts. Alpster and Long Mike for their hard work. To the mods, a big . To Deb and Fluke for the delicious deserts. Yum! To the cooks a great thanks for 2 great meals. To CJ and Bud, thanks for the help during the week trying to locate the hawgs, I know they're there. To Big-O, thanks for the generosity and showing our soldiers a good time on the lake, you are a hoot. To Bob Lusk, thanks for taking the time to talk with me about the lake I fish. Procrafter, my Monday partner never complained about the horrible weather conditions. Of course, we were catchen up on them so that helped. Burley, my 7am Tuesday partner who finally showed up in the restaurant at 8am in his PJ's while we ate breakfast. It was a pleasure. Hope you got your drawers cleaned up after that boat ride up the lake. It would be a pleasure to fish with you again. Firefightin15. I had a ball, broken rod and all. I'm a fishermen! Don't dip your spinnerbait trailer in the JJ's!! ;D Speedbead on Thursday. Thanks for draggin my tired butt all over the lake. After 4 1/2 days of fighting the TM I was glad to turn the front of the boat over to you. Had I not, I probably wouldn't have caught that 4 1/2 lber. (wish I could have measured it on Bootens scale) RW, it was a pleasure to sneak out for a few hours on Friday morn. Glad to see you get your biggest (2lb 12oz) of the weekend. The only photo I took all week. Be there in 2010 or don't be at all. I can't wait.

My Yo Zuri Line Report
I was fishing 15lb most of the week on the KY BassResource.com road trip. This was my first time with the line as well. 15lb is slightly stiff. The bottle of KVD line conditioner that came in our hospitality bag really helped. I also found that it's best NOT to tie palomar knots but double clinch knots instead. The line is amazingly tough. I'm sold and will buy more.

thanks road trip guys
Nice meeting you Paul. Hope you can stay longer next year.

Favorite month to fish
Late March into early April. The vast majority of my big fish I've caught, 6 - 8.5lbs have come in that time period.

4th Annual BassResource.com Roadtrip!!!
I recognize that bank. Firefightin and I fished it Wed and pulled some fish off those trees. Speedbead and I went up much later on Thurs and finally fished that bank in Duncan. Jimzee and AJ must of sore mouthed most of the fish as Speedbead could only pick up few. I was draggin a jig from the back of the boat in deeper water and picked up a few smaller fish. What was really weird was Duncan bay had lots of trees down from the icestorm. Go into any other bay and you'd find a few but nothing like that cove. Those 2 are fishing fools man. They get jiggy with it for sure. 8-)

Lookin for a BC reel for around 150.00 need ideas.
You're not exactly using the best of judgment just looking at your current list of rods and reels. The reel is merely a casting and cranking device. You should be buying better quality rods and putting less expensive reels on them. Example, you can find Revo S reels for around $100 new on ebay. Match that with an All Star Platinum, Falcon Cara, St. Croix Avid, a lower priced Loomis, Quantum PT or maybe a carrot stick. Higher priced reels won't help you catch you more fish, higher priced rods will.

4th Annual BassResource.com Roadtrip!!!
Most everyone had to leave before the weather got bad. Glenn and Keri were sight seeing. It looked like Uncle Leo/Simple Joe, Roadwarrior and myself were the only ones that went out. RW got a 2-12, I got one a smidge smaller. We heard thunder, pulled up stakes and got into the marina restaurant just as the rain and lightning started coming down. Leo the same. We never went back out, loaded up instead and left for home. I'll post later when the others start posting. Some probably still aren't home yet.

Power Loading
If the ramp constructors are smart, they'll dump a bunch of large rock off the end of the concrete to prevent the blow out. The steeper the ramp, the easier it is to put it on the trailer without have to power on.

4th Annual BassResource.com Roadtrip!!!
I fished with Wayne (Speedbead) yesterday and let him run the front of the boat. Our initial plan was to run to Duncan bay and fish a bunch of laydown trees from the icestorm they had down here but we then heard the lake had dropped several inches overnight so we changed tactics. Speedbead pitched laydowns and logjams while I was tossing out into deep water and fishing the reliable jig dragging pattern that had been going on all week. Wayne probably nailed around 4 keepers plus smaller fish flippin and pitchin. I managed a 4 1/2, my largest of the trip by far dragging a jig up a ledge. We also got on a shallow water spinnerbait bite. Speedbead caught a PICKERAL! We didn't even know this lake had them. I believe Pitchin Kid got one as well. We later found out Jimzee and Pitchinkid ran up to Duncan and slew them pitchin those trees! They had many keepers up to 3lbs, sometimes 2 and 3 per tree top.

4th Annual BassResource.com Roadtrip!!!
Other than that 2lber I caught on a pointer I never had the time to try.. We were too busy trying to figure out the puzzle of the location of the 6+ lbers that lake has so we could knock Burley off the big fish podium. We saw plenty of crappie fishermen with coolers of slabs. This lake has got the crappie in it.

.... That said, his rod locker is now full of Shimanos. While you were in the room I went back down to the boat to organize things... While I had the rod locker open airing out the shimano stench, I accidently spilled some JJ's methioe,, er meatheo.... well I don't know how you spell it so I'll just call it JJ's PINK magic all over those green reels.... man, I'm so sorry.

4th Annual BassResource.com Roadtrip!!!
To quote Burley.... "That was the roughest water I ever been on in a boat." ;D We caught plenty of air time. I guess I should've put those rod buckles on as the rods were going all over the place. I'm pretty certain we can all get into bigger fish but it's just getting to them and trying to hold a boat in position to fish for them that's the hard part right now. The wind is just killing us. Tomorrow and Thursday look to be our best opportunities..

High End BPS Baitcasters
The crankside guts of a Revo S, SX or STX will interchange with a Patriarch perfectly. The only difference there is in the main drive shaft, The Revo using a nut handle attachment and the Pflueger with their old spin on handle attachment method. The frame differs in the spool area. The spool opening diameter is slightly different between the Revo and Pflueger as well as frame width. The palm plates are obviously different. BTW, the JM reel has some similarities to the Pflueger in crankside parts but they're not interchangeable. Most notably, the main crank gear on the Morris reels is HUGE. Made of brass it is very heavy. Note that the Elite and Gold reels have a duraluminum main drive gear. That reduces the reels weight significantly.

first day on the lake with new boat...ooops!
Don't feel bad. When my son was 13 he wanted to go with one trip in late Feb for the jerkbait bite. His job was to hold the rope on the boat and pull it back in after I launched it. As soon as the boat pulled just a little, he let go. The boat was now drifting out into the lake It was Feb. Hardly anyone is on the water. About a 1/2 hour later another bass fishermen shows up. I agree to help him launch if he goes out and pulls my boat in (now several hundred yards floating out in the lake) Happy ending.

4 annual roadtrip
I'm sure the Marina has a feeding station where he can buy fish food, throw it into the water and dance with glee with the other 6 year olds when they see their first BIG fish up close.
