  1. One of my fondest recollections is a shorelunch on a lake in Minnesota. We forgot lighter fluid to start the fire to fry up our 3-5lb bass we caught so we were forced to take the American flag off the light standard on the boat and use it for kindling. Later, our non-fishing friends met up with us after a morning Bald Eagle hunt. They had one small male to show us. Tasted like chicken, just a little stringier.
  2. Bank fishing at Simpson is very limited. The vast majority of the banks are too overgrown and steep to even begin to fish them. The best options are at the boat ramp on the west side of the lake. Go to the left side of the ramp, there is some flatter land there that is accessible and actually has some good bass fishing. Go to the right and the bank is probably too steep though the area 50 yds in that direction from the ramp is also good. You last options are in Simpson park itself. You can fish from the outflow spillway all the way to the fishing dock and a little past that. Standing on the fishing dock, there is a bank to the left that's got lots of broken off stumps on it all the way out to a point. If you can get to it, that bank is another good spot. Can't help you on the bluegills but I imagine around the fishing dock would be good.
  3. Go with the LP version for light lures.
  4. You sure couldn't build that trailer new for $150. The tires don't look good. My suggestion? Check Walmart, they've got new tires and wheels that size for around $50-60 apiece. Buddy bearings, Walmart. Light, Walmart. Invest around $200 and you've got a trailer that will last you a long time.
  5. I can't imagine it's anymore than a 3/4" in diameter pipe. My overflow is a thru hull at the bottom of the well into a 90 degree elbow. The pipe is about 3/4 or a little more of livewell capacity up from the bottom. As the water reaches max level the water begins flowing into the top of the overflow and out the back. My recirc pump is actually tied into the overflow line via a Tee connection. It pulls it's water from that line.
  6. Mine goes out below the water line. I have no problems but I rarely run the FW pump after the livewell has already filled. Once it's filled I usually run the recirc pump only.
  7. Just go buy a Color-C-Lektor and end this already.
  8. If you go the Ebay auction route you can get a new Patriarch for around $140 - 145 total. Prices have been jumping up on those lately. The days of $125 Patriarchs are over.
  9. Given the material that the E line Curado's are made of, I'd say you're probably allergic to graphite.
  10. Pretty simple really. That spray bar you're using for the inflow has a control valve on it. Simply adjust it for less pressure.
  11. uh Dude.... KY lake is less than 2 weeks away! And I was worried about not getting my stereo installed in time. ;D
  12. Yes I have. If you're speaking of Henry's 633, you'll have to make sure you roll out the carpet at several intervals of 1,2,3 and even 4 hours after intitially laying it. The glue will set up but it takes much longer.
  13. Excellant. Exactly what I was planning on packing and I've restocked on some Chompers twin tails recently.
  14. I'd probably go see a dermatologist ASAP. That's one nasty skin condition you've got going on there. That leather thong you're wearing probably isn't helping anything either.
  15. To the locals, I'm really wanting to get into some smallmouth fishing when I'm down there, maybe more so then the LM. In general, what type of lures am I going to need to pack? I've gotten a general idea reading some stuff on-line on seasonal patterns on the lake. Seriously, the SM fishing potential is really getting me stoked as much as the LM fishing.
  16. I sure hope their censored........ I'm sure most will be perfectly fine unless someone tries to sneak a shot or 2 of Long mike and RW doing their floor routines. :shudders:
  17. Legendary BASS angler and lure manufacturer Tom Mann used to say something along the lines of this: 'Lures catch fish, lure colors catch fishermen.' Despite the fact that Mann was one of the first lure manufacturers to introduce a myriad of colors through his famous Jelly worm line, he would also admit that the color itself was rarely more important that the action of the lure and how and where it was presented. He was one of the first to realize that colors (along with scents) were more of a marketing ploy to get anglers to buy his product when they were in the tackle store and if the lure was designed correctly, would usually catch fish regardless of which color was selected. He's usually been right in my books.
  18. Water will pass through an aerator pump and fill it till it reaches the outside water line whether the pump is on or off. You could put a plug into the livewell opening to stop it and pull it when you want water but a better system would be: Disconnect the existing line going to the bottom of the livewell from the pump and connect to a new connection you've drilled higher up the livewell with one of those aerator heads installed. Now the water won't fill unless you turn the switch on plus you can now put a timer on the pump to aerate the water. The old livewell connection at the bottom can be used as a drain. line to the outside, put a one way check valve in the line to keep the water from flowing back into the system. Finally, add a thru hull connection somewhere up the side of the livewell as an overflow, this line can feed out the side of the boat (above the waterline obviously ) or you could simply put a Tee in the drain line you've already installed and route it to there. Now you've got a nice functioning livewell that's more than tournament ready.
  19. The Revo S is a fairly easy reel to tear down.
  20. If you're fishing simpson be prepared, the ramp is very shallow. There is no courtesy dock and the water around the ramp is very shallow as well. It's difficult to find a place to tie off to after launching and get into the boat without grounding on rocks. The lake is a pair of old quarries. The banks in most places drop off steeply. I've had my best success fishing any flats type areas. There is an 18" size limit. I've regularly caught fish there from 2-4 pounds but I haven't really fished that lake since the flood inundated it last March. I have no idea if that effected the fishing there or not.
  21. If you're wanting to fish the North Shore area you're much better off putting in at Coffman beach access area in the lower Gravois. PB2 is over 15 miles from the North shore area, Coffman beach, just a few miles.
  22. I picked up 3 Supremes lately and tried them last weekend for the first time. Wow! Incredible casters. Nice reels.
  23. I used to have Garmin 160's on the bow and dash of my boat. If I ran them at the same time at some point during the day I would start getting weird verticle lines on the screen followed by one or both of the units locking up. Turning off and turning back on reset the units. If I operated them alone they were fine. I've run different models or different manufacturers units at the same time for many years and never had a problem. I don't think I'd ever put the same model on front and back again.
  24. I use a pro control tray by Polyfab. There is no way I'd fish without one again.
  25. hi cart7 OTOL many time but PB2 help ramp? thought yes kind man but east of dam i can help I don't know.
