Hooked on Bass- National geographic special
The world record aspect was probably the best part about that show. Really brought to life the guys involved who prior, were only pictures on magazine pages or internet pages. What a shame they snagged that fish.

I need to bulk up my butt
Hmmm.... We'll have to discuss our Tuesday outing at KY lake. I'm in the middle of my boat restoration and I was going to put one of these on a pedestal on the back deck as the fishing seat. The kneeler that comes with it isn't shown. I was going to put that there so my back deck fishing partner can pray that I don't kick his butt too bad in fishing.

ambassadeur 7000C3 missing parts
Here's a link to the pdf file for that reel on Mikes reel repair. http://www.mikesreelrepair.com/schematics/displayimage.php?album=27&pos=597 Looks like the part id is #1881. Those are similar to the old centrifugal brakes on the old Ambassadeurs. They slide on the pins and then you slide the spool into the reel. The brakes slide freely on the pins. You cannot lock them off.

plastic trim
Yep. Cabela's is no better. They want $42 for 25ft.

Boat trailer/Boat ramp
trying to pull a trailer back up onto the concrete after the wheels have come off the end is a good way to rip an axle off.

Small Mouth - TRL
I've only fished for them around the Kimberling City area. I'm no smallmouth expert but I caught a lot of them C-rigging french fries and pen type worms in 20' + deep water. Translucent colors usually work best on the Rock. Caught them Mostly on gravel/rocky points and pockets off the main lake.

Question about Abu Garcia Revo baitcasting reels
The Revo's do a whole lotta things right. Their one achilles heel is the braking system. Specifically the linear mag braking system. It's probably why Skeet Reese chose the Centrifugal brake for his own signature model. I switched to Pflueger Patriarchs. The reel has the same Revo ergonomics as it sits on the rod. Getting the LP version gives you a little less line than a Revo but more than plenty for virtually all fishing applications. The big difference is the braking. Dual braking. What's more impressive is the Pflueger style mag braking works better than the Revo if you were to compare them side by side. Considering that Garcia and Pflueger are both Pure Fishing companies, I can't believe Garcia is still holding onto those braking systems they're using on the Revo's.

Replacing/upgrading gear is about behavior, not deals
I started buying and selling rods and reels on the forums and Ebay as a way to make money. One of the advantages of doing that, besides the extra cash, was I got to try out a bunch of different rods and reels I normally wouldn't have been able to without going out and buying them. It's an advantage most folks can't do. I don't sell much anymore. The business has kind of dried up along with the economy. That said I've upgraded at very little cost to me.

I'm coming from St louis which is only 230 miles from the lake, I imagine I'll spend around $300-350 total.

GLUE
Both Henry's and the contact cement need to be at 65 degrees for at least 24 hours to work, the longer the better. If temps are a problem, I'll be draping a tarp over my boat this weekend and heating underneath with 3 100w light bulbs. I'm tired of waiting for a warm weekend.

The Abu Morrum is back
I think I'd stick with Ebay and buying the original Swedish made ones. You can easily find them in outstanding condition for $200 or less.

rods all the same ??
Yes. There are differences. Much of it has to do with the types of material used in the rod and how it's made. Which is why many use the same brand of rod. I wouldn't want a bag of 14 different golf club brands anymore than I want 14 different brands of rods. I chose one brand I really like and am very comfortable with the consistency and feel of the rods regardless of what lure technique I'm using at the time.

Stuck Lug Nuts "Update"
I'd check craigslist first. I just picked up 4 Goodyear marathons with over 90% tread left for $100. Quite a deal.

Most Memorable Fights (with a fish)
I was tweaking a Rogue for the next days fishing. I tied it onto a crappie rod and was just tossing it off the end of the dock tuning it when WHAM! A 5 1/2 pounder hit the thing. It immediately ran towards the bank right at some brush. I somehow got it turned. I have no idea how I landed that fish of 6 pound line given how earnestly it tried to break free.

ranger r93 or skeeter zx225
As for the motor/boat model year difference on the Ranger. 1. The guy blew the motor that originally came on the boat and replaced it with the one that's on it now. 2. The guy bought the boat and transfered the 98 motor from a previous boat he had onto the Ranger. 3. The boat was bought very early in the '00 model year and the dealer had a '98 motor sitting around that he made a deal on. I'd ask. The current seller may not know if he/she is not the original owner. BTW, I'd go with the Skeeter.

bass boat
For under 2k you could easily pickup an older 14-16ft john with a 9.9 on the back. Probably with a TM and a graph too.

Mexican Honeymoon Recommendations
The Riviera Maya is the place to go. All inclusive. Beautiful beaches. Fishing is available out of Playa Del Carma. Sightseeing the Mayan ruins. And very cheap. Apple Vacations has plenty of nicely priced packages to most of the resorts including air travel.

CLEARWATER LAKE,PEIDMONT,MO.
I'm no expert on Clearwater by any means. It's a really small lake. Despite the fact the surrounding terrain would indicate it's a really deep clear body of water, in fact, it only hits about 40' deep at it's deepest spot. If you've never been there and launch by the dam, you'll think the lake is experiencing a drought since the water level goes up the face of the dam such a short distance. That's normal, that lake could be 3 times the size it is if they'd just allow the water to rise and keep it there. There is no significant smallmouth fishery there. It's LM and spots. The lake really fishes small. Once you get above the Bluffview public use area you quickly run out of water deep enough to run a bass boat in. Jet drives only unless the lake is up.

Aunt's Creek
Just a few tips. Concentrate on the north side of Little Aunts creek. As for Aunts creek itself, from the mouth of Little Aunts creek and up, fish those smaller coves on the North/West side of the arm. Really concentrate on the points. There used to be a lot of cedar trees off of those points. The tops are probably broken off but I'll bet the lower parts of the trees are still there. Try Rogues or pointers when the temps are 50 and below. As water warms, move to Wiggle warts. I'd also suggest C-rigging with 4-6" finesse worms or French fryes. Smaller jigs can also be productive. You could spend a week in that cove easily. It produces plenty of quality fish.

Penn 950ssm reel from factory
Most spinning reels have a handle that will collapse like that when you crank it clockwise (when the handle is on the left) and hold onto the spool to keep it from turning. Usually it allows you to unscrew the cap on the reverse side and switch the side the handle is on. It also allows for the reel to be physically smaller for shipping. Merely hold onto the spool and crank the handle counter clockwise, it will screw itself back in and tighten up.
