Custom Mold & Tint Inc 1991 Highway 425 S Monticello, AR 71655-9797 Phone: (870) 367-7083 Over the years, they've made windshields for many of the major bass boat manufacturers.

Need Help Wiring Trailer
Typical four flat connectors for trailers have a shorter white wire that needs to be ground onto the trailer. The lights themselves are normally grounded internally via the screw mounts that attach the light to the trailer. You cannot trust that the hitch/ball connection is going to ground the trailer. If there isn't some sort of connector on that wire to begin with, I add a ring type, drill a hole in the trailer up by the coupler, sand the surface to bare metal and screw it down. That should fix your problem.

Boat Registration
One of the disadvantages of buying older boats, especially aluminums that may have just been used on private property on a farm pond is the lack of titling or registration information with the boat. I bought a boat that had no title and neither did the trailer. The trailer is homemade, that's easy enough to take care of but the boat would've required the guy I bought it from to title it in the state he was from, Illinois and then pay any back taxes. Considering I only paid $150 for the whole rig, that just wasn't going to happen. I now basically fly under the radar when I fish out of the thing.

boat business idea
Depending on how busy your local public boat ramp is, you might want to just hang around there and offer your services as a designated boat backer upper for those waiting in line. $10 bucks a pop. You might have quite a few takers on that. Great opportunity to meet girls too.

Boaters beware
Yep, Blackbird is well known for doing shoddy work. Avoid at all costs.

Indiana Boat Sport Travel Show
As I understand it, these show producers really sting ya on the price for a booth at these boat shows. For some places like resorts at lakes, it's worth the money since they can book up the summer by being at several of these shows, for the tackle dealers I wonder if they even break even.

BPS Extreme vs. All Star Instinct vs. All Star IM 10
I think the Instincts are a Chinese made rod for All Star. Not sure if the quality level matches the Houston made stuff. In that case I'd definitely opt for the Extreme BPS rod vs the Instinct. As for the IM10. If you mean the Team All Star series of rods, they are a far better rod than the Extremes. Way lighter and more sensitive. No comparison there.

Patriarch and light cranks?
The biggest difference between the Patriarch and the JM sig reels is the size and weight. The JM reel feels big, solid, almost too big though. The Patriarch is nearly a twin to the Revo line, size wise. Internally, there is some difference in the pinion release mechanism and the main crank gear on the JM reel is huge compared to the Patriarchs. As far as performance. The dual braking system is nearly identical. Both reels are a breeze to set up and the adjustments are nearly limitless. Either reel would be a solid performer and can throw just about any size bait but if you don't like a larger profile reel, stick with the Patriarch. The JM sig series does have the advantage of being available in a slower 5.4:1 ratio.

what is this boat worth
A boat like that would probably go for $3,000-4,000 in these parts. If the boat and motor are in good shape then you start looking at the age and condition of depthfinders, TM, batteries, seats, etc. The Yamaha ProV motor is a very stout engine. Provided it's been properly maintained over the years, it's still got a lot of life in it and can be hot rodded.

Indiana Boat Sport Travel Show
The St Louis boat show isn't much different. It's easily $18 to walk in the door unless you want to park further away and walk down some dark streets after hours. Fewer tackle sellers offering good deals like they did in the past. The place is absolutely loaded with big boats but fewer bassboats. I used to go to get local catalogs for some of the lakes but the entrance price isn't worth it anymore. I haven't been in 2 years now and honestly, I don't feel like I've missed anything.

The wife just left...
Isn't this the truth. My wife and I separated for a little over a year, we just got back together last September. We probably get along better than at anytime in our lives but she still clings to the notion that if I really loved her, I would be chasing after her like a dog in heat like I did nearly 23 years ago. I was 23 years younger, I was a different kind of person then. Our relationship was different. Apparently, from her perspective, everything else is allowed to change and evolve except for that. I honestly think it's more of a self esteem thing for the women rather than something being wrong with me. Good luck though, it can be repaired if you two want it to.

Do you do this?
I once sat idle at the entrance of a housekeeping pocket on Lake of the Ozarks and watched as 3 big female bass, all from 5-7lbs, moved slowly from under one dock to 2 seperate brushpiles off to the sides of the dock while smaller males swam around them. The 3 big girls made their way from one spot to the next and then back again. It was obviously the whole courtship process going on in full swing. I was mezmorized. I never cast a lure. It was obvious eating wasn't on their mind.

Ky lake question?
matt, TX lakes, for the most part, are newer than many of the lakes in the south or midwest. If you are fishing many of the TVA lakes or some others in the MdWst that were impounded before 1960 or earlier, the lake will lack any sort of flooded timber. Back then, the lake's main purpose was flood control and hydroelectric power, leaving trees in as fish cover wasn't even thought of. In fact, the trees were often harvested for their commercial value. You're going to have to think in terms of seasonal locations of bass and their movements. If there would be cover available, stumps, laydowns, etc. in those pathways they're utilizing, they'll use it. Otherwise, you will be fishing water that to you will seem like open water. Unless the waters up in the buck brush, then it's anything goes.

1978 Terry 5.2m
I've fished out of quite a few of them. As W2S said, they were considered one of the best back then. Just make sure the wood hasn't over-aged.

Patriarch and light cranks?
Hmm...I hadn't thought about that. :-/ I was thinking about getting the WLP for the added line capacity. How much difference do you think there would be in casting distance between the two, using light lures? Since you'll probably be using lighter line on that reel, less than 14lb test, you're going to have a whole lot of line to work with on the WLP reel. Way more than you need and it could hinder casting with the 1/4 oz baits, 3/8, less so.

HELP!!!
hmmm...what part of MO is that in? pitchin is one of our favorite techniques, so that might be a possibility. aaron In the middle of the state. Plenty of resorts there for all budgets. One note though, It depends on what part of the summer you're planning on coming down. From June - mid July the fish will locate in brushpiles along side docks or on the backside of them. Pitchin and flippin to those fish is about the only way to effectively present a Brush hog or 7 1/2" worm. Once the water temps push upwards in late July on the lake thermoclines the fish move off to the main lake points or brush piles on deeper docks that have at least 20 + feet of water on the end of them. Typical patterns in late summer include C-rigging 10" worms off of main lake points, cranking them with DD-22's or fishing the deep brush piles off the dock ends with T-rigged 10" worms or cranking them with DD-22's.

Ky lake question?
The only time I fished the lake was 31 years ago. There was no standing timber left then. Laydowns though. I caught a 5 1/2 pounder off the end of one in about 6' of water. I wound up 2nd in that tournament, big bass was a little over 6lbs. It was a tough tournament as I recall. Not many fish caught of any size. Of course we were there in early May and the spawn was over for the most part.

Going to KY Lake? This might give you pause...
Are there roadside stands selling the stuff or do we have to meet some guy named Cooter back behind some old, abandoned gas station after dark?

Shadow Bass Boat 88-89 model 18ft any one had or have ?
We had a local dealer carry the Shadow line of boats. They lasted about as long as Shadow boats did and are no longer in business. As W2S said, they were a fast boat. Built in KY or Tenn. IIRC. A really nice looking ride as it sat on the trailer, how they actually handled with all that speed is another matter and like most go-fast bass boats, weren't always the greatest fishing platforms. Only a few boat companies back then were bonding the cap to the hull, Ranger and Champion come to mind. If that would happen to be a bonded joint boat you might as well forget about a cap off resto job. Cutting that joint correctly is not easy and only some fiberglass repair places know how to do it. C & O is one of them.

4th Annual BassResource.com Roadtrip!!!
Freaking sweet!! Ol' Bill's the man ain't he? You can hear the enthusiasm in his voice while he's explaining what to do down there. Like he'd love to be in the boat with us. That man loves to fish, it comes through everytime he talks about it. I loved his "housekeeping banks" terminology. I'll have to remember that one. Great interview Glenn. 8-)

Falcon lowrider or Team All Star???
I've never used Falcon rods but I understand they are a great rod for the money. I've got 3 TAS rods, One Big Boy I use for Flippin/pitchin, and 2 spinnerbait rods, one MHvy and the other med. I wouldn't trade them.

Patriarch and light cranks?
I haven't had the opportunity to toss some really small stuff with them yet other than 1/4 oz spinnerbaits. It was real champ tossing those even in the wind. I'd definitely go with the LP reel. The smaller spool will spin up quicker than the larger one using smaller baits. The nice part about the reel is the dual braking. Between the click style spool tension knob and the brakes you can really fine tune that reel to just about any application without a lot of messing around with the reel and adjusting to changing wind conditions with the mag brake is easy.
