  1. I like the 4.5in size and use a 7' MH/F St. Croix Triumph.
  2. Personally I like the 100Ds over 200Es, not sure about the 50's-I say go with whatever feels more comfortable in your hands, or if your not strictly a shimano guy the Pflueger narrow spool reels are similar in profile to the 100D series and the Patriarch even has a 7to1 gear ratio.
  3. Just curious if anyone has tried Damiki's treble hook lures and what they think of them.
  4. I only like spinning rods for skipping docks or panfishing.
  5. Ive had my Ardent c400 for 3 years and have had zero mechanical problems, the only thing ever done to it was I sent it to DVT for a cleaning with some other reels. It outcasts my Citica/Curado Es but is not as light.

How sporting is it to have 50 guys in a Bass/FLW tournament all throwing the same thing. Boring thats what. Not much skill in it either. I dont like double fluke rigs and the sort either, except for practice.

While I guess its ok for recreational use, I dont think it should be legal for competition, especially for the big circuit FLW/BASS guys-after all if they are so good shouldnt they be able to catch fish with just one lure tied on? I also think stuff like the Hydowave should not be allowed-what happened to sportsmanship?
  8. When are they going to have a Rage Craw/Chunk in half brown/half green pumpkin to match SK's Hack Attack/Tour Grade football jigs in green pumpkin craw color?
  9. Tackle Warehouse has Daiwa Smallmouth rods for $60 on clearance. 6'9 MH for wormin/jiggin and 6'9 M for spinnerbaits/buzzbaits/soft plastics.
  10. Looks like I no longer have to cut the crappy keeper of Mustads swimbait hooks and replace them with hitchhikers.
  11. I dont like split grip rods but I might just try the Performa XT 30.
  12. It should be fine then, the one I own is an older model and and doesnt have a soft enough tip for trebles.
  13. That ML has the same power as most rod manufacturers M, check to see how soft the tip is.
  14. I use Team Daiwa S Topwater/Twitchin rod. It is 6'3" so I dont slap water, and has a short handle which I like.
  15. I do not like split grips either but they are all the rage these days. Main problem with the Triumph/Premiers is that most have stiff tips and are under rated for power. Even my 6'6" ML Premier has too much tip for topwater.
  16. I use Daiwas TD-S 6'3" MH topwater/twitchin rod, it is on sale at BPS for $90-plenty of backbone, plenty of tip and I like the short handle. If you want a longer rod St Croix Mojo Mxfast 6'8" is not much more expensive than a Triumph ($100)and is desiginated as a topwater rod.
  17. Either Xcalibur xcs200 or Rapala DT Fat3 .....Also I own a few Lucky Craft RC 2.5s, and they just dont cast well, my DT10s cast nearly twice as far and weigh the same.
  18. Thats too bad, I was considering going there next spring as Ive heard it is the best bass lake in Indiana. How are Monroe and Brookville?
  19. I use a 6'3" Daiwa S topwater/twitchin rod-it is MH/F and is listed as graphite-composite so I guess the tip is glass, plenty of power but no lost fish on topwater. However I am not sure if a slower glass rod isnt better for jerkbaits-had no luck using the Daiwa rod this year but last year I used a St Croix 6'6" glass M/MF and did ok, I just like the shorter handle of the Daiwa rod better for jerks.
  20. Goods hooks will help, I changed a Rapala DT Thugs hooks from the sure set hooks(should be named sure snag) to KVDs and landed all 12 smallmouth I hooked plus I never hung up in a couple hours fishing around rock and wood cover due to the KVDs short shank and the Thugs bill.
  21. What part of the state is West Boggs located?
  22. I recently bought some Ribbit Frogs to try out and the Double Take hooks to go with them-works great.
  23. It is not on your list but I use a 7' MH St Croix Triumph for froggin and it has plenty of power and only costs $70.
