Aluminum Boat Recommendations
I have a Crestliner PT18, and I'll put it up there with any tin 18 footer. not a boat for speed freaks. but it's built like a tank. a bit on the expensive side. the Lunds are great but even more expensive as are Xpress.

Need some insight trading a year old boat in!
yeah, you're going to take a huge loss unless you put a large amount down. I have been fishing the Mississippi at Lacrosse for many years. I do it now from my tin PT18. fished it from glass boats for 30 years. why do you feel you need a larger glass boat? I fish spots now that I would never attempt with my Stratos's. the boat you have is better for river fishing. sounds like you just want a new boat. nothing wrong with that, but you might wait a while because your probably really up side down on your loan. as slonezp said, talk to your dealer about selling it for you.

Motorguide x5 Arrow
I bought a X5 two years ago. arrow crapped out after about 5 minutes. Lowrance said they were working on a fix as this was an issue. the parts inside are cheap plastic. sold the boat and my new boat has a MinnKota. after a lifetime of Motorguide, no more. they made a bad decision by replacing the Tour.

PaddleTail Swimbaits!
I use them with jig heads and weighted hooks. they are also my favorite trailers with swim jigs, spinnerbaits, and chatter baits.

Fish Finder / Boat Storage
I keep mine on except winter. stored outside with cover. never had a problem. 2 Lowrance 9" touch with covers.

HydroWave
I know two guys who installed them on their boat. both said the same thing. wasted 400.00. I can think of better things to add for that money.

Be Smart in the Heat ~
I'm too old for that now. if it's anywhere near 90 I just stay home.

Boat cleaning with Lysol TB cleaner and Hydrogen Peroxide
never used it on my hull but the peroxide is great for removing blood from the carpet.
- Can Minn Kota Talons 1/2 stow for quick moving from close spot to close spot?
-
Ranger or Skeeter
seems no one mentioned resale. Skeeter and Ranger are both great boats that have been around since the beginning, but the Ranger will usually sell quicker and for more $ because of the name and not because they are better.

HDS 7 gen3 structure scan issue
go to you-tube. they have tutorials on everything Lowrance.

Thoughts on MotorGuide X3 70lb thrust?
I would get the X5 70lb. instead although I had the same trouble with mine two years ago. directional arrow broke on the first trip. no fix for it. because if this I would go for a MinnKota Maxxim instead.

White lies to go fishing...
I hate to lie, so I just got rid of my wife. problem solved.

Taking delivery of new boat this weekend- (On-board essentials?)
don't forget the TP. keep mine in a coffee can.

Taking a guided bass trip
any guide worth his or her salt should teach you whatever your skill level. the problem is, there is so much to learn that one day with a guide isn't nearly enough. I think you can learn more watching you tube. if you have a boat, go out and watch others. once you get the basics down it's time to practice, practice, practice. nothing beats time on the water, be it from a boat or the bank. just don't give up if your not catching at first. we have all gone thru this.

Tube question??
I use tubes with the solid head, usually with a bullet sinker and just rig like any other plastic. much faster and easier to rig.

Push Poles - Frugal Options
not glass. Crestliner PT18. I don't use it much. mostly when I get caught on a wing dam on the Miss. the pole is built strong. would be more than enough for any boat.

Push Poles - Frugal Options
I have the 6-12' with the foot from TW. about 65.00, or get the KVD model for over 200.00.

Fish finders
it's not about finding fish. it's finding structure and cover that will hold fish. you may not see fish at the moment, but if it's the right structure it should have fish using it at some time so it's important to mark it for future reference.

Fish finders
I may be wrong, but I think they use different power cords. an adapter might be available.

Aluminum boat protection - Everbrite products
I agree. Sharkhide is the best for unpainted aluminum, but it's expensive.

fishing alone or with a partner?
as much as I enjoy fishing with my son and/or grandson, I find it easier to be alone. I don't have to worry about boat position, especially when flipping and pitching. I am also more concerned with getting others on fish, otherwise I feel like I failed them. when I'm alone, I'm more relaxed and there is no pressure.

Fish finders
side scan isn't going to do much up front, especially if your new at it. it's best in a straight line so any turning of the tm can be confusing. go with the largest unit you can afford. if you split screens on a 5" model, your going to squint to see any detail, especially if your standing. I went from a 5" to a 7" and now I have two 9". can't afford the 12's.

Center rod box mods
my PT 18 holds 12 rigs but it also has two huge lockers an either side. I have one side for all my rods with room for many more. I use my center box for all of my tackle boxes.
