  1. Check this out http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/136942-what-insect-repellent-works-the-best-for-you/
  2. oops missed that part. Do you have a fitted drain plug or a rubber one? it could be coming in through there after a few minutes on the water.
  3. Stratos stopped using wood in their boats in 98. It might be a good idea to take that into consideration.I know it doesnt matter to most people but that is one thing I have been told to check before buying a boat. Ranger stopped in the late 80s and I am not sure about other boat brands.
  4. Stop me if Im wrong but couldnt you fill you hull up with water sitting in your drive way and check for leaks that way? Do the same with the lives wells possibly . This could be my dumbest suggestion yet but its along the same lines of putting a tire in a bath of soapy water.
  5. I use this stuff called jungle juice(http://www.rei.com/product/799529/sawyer-jungle-juice-100-insect-repellent-98-percent-deet-25-fl-oz), its like 98% deet and not very good for your skin or clothes. I was told by a mosquito expert that this (http://www.amazon.com/Cutter-Eucalyptus-Insect-Repellent-4-Ounce/dp/B00860Y3DQ) or anything with lemon eucalyptus is the best.
  6. Common complaint by everyone I know that has owned a patriarch. Safe bet is to get the supreme xt.
  7. Not sure either. Normally I go with dobyns but I got a really nice price on that rod through a distributor.
  8. Never burn on my forehead just nose and cheeks. I use a panama jack spf50 stick for right below my sunglasses. Besides that i throw a buff on.
  9. Im looking for a falcon flipping stick 7ft to 7ft6 heavy. Something with a lot of backbone and the ability to punch if need be. I will be throwing 3/8, 1/2oz and maybe 3/4 jigs on this rod. I was looking at the cara t7 ( CC-7-173S. Cara Amistad.) Let me know what you guys think.
  10. Whats the name of the place? My friend has some land and hes got 15 or so ponds stocked with different species of fish.
  11. I use this http://www.zebralight.com/H52-AA-Headlamp-Cool-White_p_131.html , the lowest setting is basically moonlight. Bright enough to tie up and find things but wont spook the fish.
  12. I would say spro little john dd crankbaits , strike king 5xd and 6xd, rapala dt 20. You could throw a strike king 10xd to hit 25 feet but I think you meant that you will be fishing in 25 foot plus not wanting to crank that deep.
  13. Not worth the risk, easier to keep them tight and replace them when they get worn. Also Ive seen boats that are 20 years old with the factory straps and winch still working. I doubt that will be an issue or something to worry about.
  14. If you had $300 to spend on Spro baits how would you spend it? Ive assembled a mixture of popping frogs, frogs, and crankbaits. What would you get and what color? May have gone over my limit lol
  15. I use a 735c and I dont think it hurts at all. As long as you have a good chatterbait you will hook the fish. The original chatterbaits work but the hooks and bait keep suck. Better off with a d&m custom baits or something similar.
  16. If Im fishing very heavy cover I will use a squarebill to deflect off of cover. If it isnt that bad and I want to go from open water to light cover I will use a round bill.
  17. I know a few old timers that switched to glass rods for their spinnerbaits and chatterbaits. I believe it was something rick clunn mentioned to him when he fished the classic. I know they used to be mainly glass rods but I believe clunn didnt switch over whent hey went to g
  18. They brought this backpack back. I would buy this again in a heartbeat http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-XPS-Stalker-Backpack-Tackle-Bag-or-System/product/1304050935/
  19. It does have flex like a crankbait rod but you will be hard pressed to make it bend that far. Biggest ive boat flipped has been a little over 3lb , the rest I netted.
  20. Go with navionics. Most my friends use it and dont have any problems with it.
  21. Ill let the experts take over but I will say any dobyns collection that doesnt have a 735c is missing out. Same with the 765cb glass for deep cranks.
  22. Chatterbaits! I never really threw them when I was 15, normally stuck to jigs/ spinnerbaits. Its an awesome bait to throw especially in grass and at night. My best 5 went 15lb the other night which isnt much but its better than 5 12inchers
  23. Not something most the guys I know do. Most of the lakes I fish dont have the type of pads I would punch. Mainly sparse grass or toulies that I toss a chaterbait intp.
  24. Ive got up to 15lb on medium action spinning gear. Took me forever but I got it in. i suggest using corn or some other type of dough bait . They may be hard to catch so if it is legal just snag them and hang on lol
  25. 736 good for regular flipping/pitching applications. I fish the midwest and punching is rare. Id rather throw a frog.
