  1. You shouldnt have to shake your rod to get the bait to fall. The bait should be able to fall, hit the floor, and not cause a backlash. All of my abus require an intense amount of adjustment and mainly the reason why I switched to lews.
  2. dobyns 735c is the way to go. It can work frogs and jigs. Some people want a more powerful rod for jigs so keep that in mind.
  3. If they look cheap I change them. Generally on any expensive bair (spro baits, megabass, lucky craft etc) I keep the trebles on out of box. If they look and feel cheap I change them.
  4. personally I go with 8lb-10lb fluorocarbon. Not sure it matters that much but mono floats, if you want a bait to suspend longer you want a neutral balance.
  5. I love them and they certainly do work. It may be your rod or your cadence. You have to make sure youre twitching the bait and not pulling it. Basically on a semi slack line not completely taught. Make a long cast, reel down a little bit, then start to twitch your rod. Try and watch the bait as it gets closer you should see it dart left and right. Line diameter can also mess with jerkbaits. If you're pulling the bait and not letting it move it wont dart as well.
  6. Ive got a good amount of the current wiggle warts but have been thinking about purchasing some custom painted KO warts. Is there any advantage of the KO over the current wiggle warts? I'm not going to buy a KO in a color I currently have if there is no advantage. I'm more or less looking for discontinued colors.
  7. One tidbit I would throw in would be to wire tie your jigs. They last a little bit longer and the skirt doesn't slide around like the rubber banded ones. The bands are nice because I can tie jigs anywhere by just using some pliers but the colors dont stay exactly where I want them to. Also if you use the bands you can literally make 15 different skirts and pull them on and off jigs to change colors on the fly without having to retie a different jig. http://fishingskirts.com/ < if you buy over 5 packs you get a discount. Trust me you'll want more than 5 packs of black/blue, green pumpkin, brown etc etc.
  8. I completely agree. When I was a kid there was always something for me to do or see. Tons of boats, tons of rvs, tons of little shows ( dog training, log rollers/lumber jack contests). They literally had a giant grizzly bear and a crocodile. On top of that they had tons of baits and fishing equipment. They had some junk rolled in between but they actually attracted people to come. Once everything changed they have not been the same show. I will also be buying those pickles, idk what he does but they taste so d**n good.
  9. 735c is the ultimate all around jig rod from dobyns. I also have a 766flip saavy thats pretty decent but not as great as its champion and DX counterparts. As for the crankbait rod I can vouch for dobyns glass rods, they keep fish pegged. As I stated above I'll probably get a 705cbglass to replace my current shallow crank rod.
  10. Great jerkbait rod.
  11. Im going to buy a 705cb glass. Let me know when you want to order the 764cb , we can split shipping
  12. My teams there right now at Bass U https://www.facebook.com/fightingillinibassclub. They basically confirmed my suspicions, less fishing more lodges etc.

I like the springfield xds 3.3 in. It was either that or the m&p shield, just liked the xds better. The new smaller version of the xds looks pretty cool.
  14. I use my tournament pro for that application. I use my 5:4 bb1pro for crankbaits, it has a massive spool.
  15. owner mosquito hooks probably
  16. Mine does but I solved the problem by using a smaller box. Also you can throw terminal tackle in old bait baits and they wont clang around as much. If all else fails skull candy headphones cost $10.
  17. Very true. When I was a kid the Rosemont had a pretty good show with a little bit of everything. Once they started to sell the show they made it worse for the small clubs and store owners. Henrys gave up on the Rosemont Show as the cost to do it wasn't worth it any longer. We're talking about a Chicagoland fishing show without one of the oldest bait shops. At any rate I'll have to stop by your booth this year.
  18. Lews offers a discount program. Pretty sure other companies do as well. Goodluck
  19. I generally use the zman because I can find them anywhere and I'm always losing or breaking them off. Idk what it is with the zman but they always seem to snap away at the head leaving me with the blade. The d&m baits are awesome but a little bit pricey. Depending on the water clarity/ temp i'll switch the color up. I'll go from a zoom fluke to a LFT magic shad and even a single tail grub.
  20. Didn't know that
  21. Yeah Im keeping this low key. Crankbait rod , jig rod, and a simple spinning rod. If I cant catch anything on those then the fishing must suck. Thanks for the tips guys.
  22. zoom trick worms and zoom chunks. But besides that LFT lures magic shads.
  23. Senko hands down. I love skipping a jig but theres something about pulling a fish 20ft out from under a dock using spinning tackle.
  24. For $25 a day it better come with an 8lber on the end of my line...
  25. I might hit up irvine if its worth it. if the ponds i am fishing are good ill scrap my idea. Im only brining a 7ftm spinning, 7ft m cranking and 7ft mh rod. Bring jigs, shakey head , crankbaits and a few swimbaits ( small huds and small line throughs) . Not bringing my dobyns rods... Tom nice to meet you,,, im tom myself
