  1. I like using fluorocarbon for my senkos as I want the most finesse approach possible. That being said I would check your line, hooks, and knots. Throwing a dry knot of worn line will snap off like no other. Also if you're hooks suck you might not get enough penetration power to stick the fish right away causing more stress on the knot. 2lb bass love senkos and unless I'm sight fishing I tend to catch more fish in the 12in-17in range on a wacky rig than I do 3-6lb fish. Find what works best for you. Spool one reel with 8lb braid and another with 8
  2. https://texaseliteangler.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/slip-sinker-rig.jpgYou can try multiple things. A slip sinker rig will be nice if you just use a nightcrawler on a hook. You can also use stink bait but I hate that stuff. As stated above some liver under a bobber works pretty well.
  3. Orra probably has better drag and bearings. You can get away with a 25-30 sized reel. Back it with some braid and throw 6/8lb test on it.
  4. never used them. My buddy likes the weighed gama hooks for deep presentations
  5. Tournament lite is a great reel. I dont see a point in buying the lews reels that cost over $200. Their lower cost reels are just as solid as their expensive ones. Also customer service on reels doesnt really matter as a year later they're out of warranty. They've always been good with shipping rods back though. Be aware that you will break their micro guides off very often.
  6. MY buddies like the veritas winch rod. I prefer a dobyns 765cb glass..
  7. My store has dt6s but the prices are high. If I can get them down I'll pick em up and send them to you at cost if youd like.
  8. Love my bb1 pro but it is very temperamental. Either I have it dialed in perfectly or it backs up on me. I dont know what the issue with the reel is.
  9. IMO micro guides suck for high stress rods like topwater and heavy jigs. Any rod repair shop can fix that easily. Ti guide with sic insert. Just use any micro guide tip top and you will be fine. http://www.mudhole.com/
  10. Boat was new to him in August. Before that it was babied. Garage kept and everything. Perfect boat. Hopefully he can plead his case with the insurance company.
  11. Hull is still good but its probably a total loss.
  12. How well do you fish a swim jig? I would say to start out with a regular swim jig with a grub trailer. Ive gotten more big bites on a 3/8th oz brown, orange ,and green jig with a green pumpkin zoom grub than I can count. When the water really muddies up and they just arent going for the silent approach I will switch to a chatterbait. I mainly use two colors , white or green pumpkin. Again the trailer matters. Either a grub, lft magic shad, or zoom fluke. You really can throw anything on as a trailer but it just depends on what the fish want. If you're slow rolling a bait I would suggest a fluke and if youre burning it something with more thump or even a grub. Deflection is key. Ripping it through grass and around docks is an awesome way to get bit. Try to pump the rod and get the blade moving. As for spinnerbaits its really a timing issue. I'll have days where I whack them and days I cannot buy a bite.
  13. It is safe to say my buddy is having a pretty rough week. Don't text and drive or you could ruin someone's pride and joy. Thank god everyone walked away unharmed, the same cannot be said about the boat or truck. Doesn't matter how well you drive someone out there is a much worse and distracted. http://imgur.com/a/dzBxk

Tube jigs fall differently than a texas rigged tube bait. Sometimes the ticket is the swirling motion of a tube jig. That being said let the fish tell you what they want. Sometimes they way a smaller bait like a big bite baits tube, sometimes they want a bigger LFT lures craw tube, sometimes they want those big berkley 5in tubes. Ive had my best luck on smaller tubes but it just depends on what the fish want. Also BPS tube jigs are super cheap and have decent hooks. Worth the buy.
  15. 703 is a good all around spinnerbait/ chatterbait rod. IMO the champion line up is far superior to the saavy lineup. That being said for moving baits the saavys work just fine. How much is he asking for them?
  16. Any Il guys shore fish lake Michigan? Just looking for some info on when the bass move up. Im back at school but am willing to drive back up once they start to spawn.
  17. zoom baits. Also only buy what you use.
  18. Its way down in central Il getting worked on. Oddly enough a friend in the club has a brand new TM that came off his old boat he is wiling to give away along with the electronics. His new boat came fully loaded and so the "old" ( yr old hummingbird and minn kota) arent needed.
  19. Yep. Basically going to take some before and after pictures to see what he does. Trolling motor might have an issue who knows.
  20. Nice, thats a perfect central . il boat. I need to rewire the batteries and I think I may just give up and take it to the mechanic. Too worried that Ill blow myself up.
  21. Also Im just taking it in tomorrow to get done correctly. If it was my boat I would play around with it. Not going to risk messing something up or blowing myself up for a boat that I wont be using down the road.
  22. Boat is running 3 batteries. 1 cranking 2 trolling motor. Old trolling motor on there was a 12/24. current one is a 24v 80lb minn kota maxxum. Currently the boat is rigged for 12/24. ITs my understanding that all I need to do is run them in series and only use the leads from battery one( obviously connected to battery 2) to the front plug panel to make the connection and get 24v only out of the plug.
  23. So lets run with this. The cranking battery is old, thats fine because its independent of the trolling motors and I am still getting a good charge out of it. The one trolling motor battery is a year or so old but doesnt have a years worth of use, just say for a couple months uncharged. Charged it last winter. At any rate I need to get 24v, sounds like parallel is the way to go. Is there a way to use the current wiring to create a 24v system? Just use the battery 1 cable, plus a 50amp breaker, then the batteries linked like you said with some 6 gauge and a 6 gauge ring terminal. You recommended the anderson connector, I believe this boat just uses ring terminals. Long day Im going to get some rest and see where this goes. Its a club boat so I dont have the cash on hand to get another new battery. Ill disconnect it and start fresh manana.
  24. 3-4 year old Minn Kotta trolling motor. Thanks for the advice , my buddys backup motorguide is in the barn and I can test that.
  25. I should be getting more power out of the trolling motor. The batteries were on the charge for some time and I was barely getting anything. Ive got a feeling that they might be wired 12/24.
