  1. Its not really designed to be a fishing trip so im not going to go very far. At most 15-20min weather permitting.
  2. tubes and shallow cranks?
  3. Hey guys I'm taking a trip to so-cal in january and was wondering what I should bring with me. The air temps look like they could be from 60-40 and I have no idea what the water temps look like. How do you guys go about fishing in the "winter". In the midwest Im either throwing deep football jigs, jerkbaits, spoons, etc etc. Is there anything I should pack ahead of time? I dont want to bring my jerkbait rod if the fish will be biting jigs and soft plastics. I'll be around santa ana.
  4. My most memorable would be the last time I went fishing with my grandpa when I was about 5-6. I can remember catching a ton of fish and have pictures but that moment will forever be ingrained in my mind because it started my fishing addiction. He passed away on my 8th birthday from prostate cancer so as a PSA to the older gentlemen on here, go get yourself checked out. Go to the doctor and have an open conversation it can potentially save your life. My second best set of memories would be the fishing trips with my collegiate team. Be it a week in table rock, lake of the ozarks, kentucky lake, or northern wisconsin. Every trip was a blast and I am looking forward to my final semester/season.
  5. I can bomb lures on by lews reels but if I want even more distance Ill use a longer rod as well.
  6. Sucks but it doesn't look like the bite was any good to start with.
  7. Has anyone used an ice fishing rod for open water? Im taking a trip this winter and dont plan on packing a rod tube but want to get some fishing in. Let me know if you have any suggestions.
  8. This should give you an idea about table rock in april....http://www.bassmaster.com/tournaments/are-truck-caps-bassmaster-elite-table-rock-lake
  9. I've dabbled in the huddleston market from time to time and some of the optima swimbaits. The only time I throw them is on big clearish water lakes though. In Illinois I'm mostly fishing in dirty muddy water and flipping lay downs and cover so I dont get much time on deeper lakes.
  10. Ive got a pond just like that. Its either 10-14 years old and it went from an decent bite with lots of 12-15in and a handful of big ones 5lb+ and some 2-3lbers mixed in. Now I can go out and catch maybe 1 or two 12in and less fish and a 5lber. Not sure what happened to the pond. Ive seen bluegill and what i think was a 10lb catfish but not much else besides a 10lb+ carp. I havent seen much small baitfish so maybe that is the problem.
  11. The hooks will be fine on the 5xd. If anything using braid will pull the bait straight out before you get the hooks in. Just my 2cents.
  12. I've got money to blow on baits from a certain online website. What would you get this time of year looking toward the spring? I've got it all but am always looking for something new. For instance, I'm going to pick up a few huddle bugs since ive never thrown them.
  13. Don't joke ive done it before lol
  14. Got this bad boy around a week or so ago. Waiting for this weather to lift so I can get back out there.
  15. The tournament pro is the best option for an all around reel. If weight is an option ( say for a jerkbait rod) then go with the tournament lite. I also love my bb1pro in 5:1 and would get a high speed in an instant. Caught this guy on the bb1pro.
  16. I had a feeling because I was told there were huge face in this small lake. It was rarely fished and only accessed through a locked gate. CAught a 7lber on a crankbait and nearly crapped myself. Good times.
  17. Just bought a saavy 766flip on a whim and I havent even received it yet but I feel like I may prefer the champion over the saavy. Does anyone have this rod ? I want to hear how it is for flipping and pitching average sized jigs. Seems like it may be too heavy.
  18. Never used the big bites senkos but their trailers and tubes are on point. Smallies love those d**n things.
  19. a good knife is the #1 thing to always have. try a leatherman, best multitool ever built
  20. Wrong places and somewhat wrong technique. Try and drag it until you hit a rock, lift it over, and then shake. Sometimes I cast shallow shake, drag, and shake but I dont hop that often. If they want a jumping bait Ill have a jig tied on.
  21. I really enjoyed using it on my friends boat but I am not sure that I am in love with it. For normal day to day use I would go with a cable steer unit, for big water and multi species fishing I would get a terranova. The spot-lock feature is awesome for bed fishing and having the coangler with the hand control allows them to move the boat if youre trying to land a fish.
  22. I would say 80% of the time I flip a fish in. If I am bed fishing I aways net the fish or lip them on the side of the boat. If i am fishing from teh shore I generally flip the fish up and grab the line MLF style as to keep them off of the ground.
  23. Chatterbaits are awesome as nighttime baits

I found a bunch of it in 325 round boxes, 500 round boxes, 100/50 round cci mini mag fmj and jhp. It is all about timing and where you go to find it at. The reason it is running out is because people have bought so much of it distributers cannot keep up with the demand. The producers of ammo are still making the same amount if not more. People paying $50 a box are impatient and going to online resources which drives up the online price. The people spending $50 are just as bad as the guys selling it online for $50.
  25. 190 acres is a pretty big pond and Ive had a ton of success in everything even ponds that are an acre or two big. The best tools for the job are spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, pop-rs, senkos, frogs, crankbiats/ratltraps and big worms. I catch most of my fish in those ponds along the bank near toolies aka cat tails.
