  1. Im not a fan of the bigger blanks. Something about them just isnt easy on the eyes.
  2. Ive got a dobyns 765cbglass and love it for crankbaits. I was also looking at either a 705cbglass or 704cb glass (or just the regular cb) but couldnt decide if I wanted glass or graphite. For $150ish I get a rod with the guide I want and wrapping so it really is a toss up.
  3. Not trying to piggyback this post but I've got a local guy willing to do me a build for around $150. I've always been a fan of the avid crankbait blanks so im looking at the mh rod looking at the 3C70MHM blank for some medium divers. Ive got a rod to cover the shallow stuff. Is there any other blank you guys recommend for this application? Also looking at some better guides and the fuji style reel seat. Shoot me a PM with how you would want it done. I've already talked to him I would just like multiple opinions.
  4. Fishing shows and DSG got me maxed out. Spent around $60 at dicks and got close to $150 in gear. Got 2 megabass ito jerkbaits at a show, 2 custom crankbaits, and some other odds and ends. Spent $20 at another show and got 15 shakey heads, 2 chatterbaits, pack of swing head jigs. Final show I got a couple $4 swim jigs and an ice fishing/UL shimano reel. Looking at building a custom cranking rod on an avid blank for $150.
  5. Zoom swimming flukes, LFT magic shads, or swing impacts if I have any.
  6. Yeah he did many catch them on the DT thug and then switched over to the livingston prototype. The bait he used isn't the same bait that livingston is selling to the general public. Came directly out of the mouth of a livingston rep.
  7. Narrow down your location. If you're in a sub division go pond hoping. If youre 5 min from Wi go there.
  8. wont be too hard. Took my gf out to get her first smallie and she caught 15 fish and the biggest was 3.5lb. Smallest was around 1.5lb
  9. I think I spent around $200 last year maybe more. Ramps fees probably only around $100 I saved a ton of money finding free ramps and some states are pretty good about free access ramps. Others charge up the wahzoo
  10. Right bait, right time, right color. Ive caught more fish on a penguin or smash colored dt than I have the demon. That being said if the fish are eating craws any craw colored bait is going to excel.
  11. Clear water so I would go with a natural jerkbait color
  12. Ill have to swing by. I'll be running the Illini booth.
  13. or the loomis gl2 843c cb for medium divers 1.5- spro little john md.
  14. Anyone going to the Tinley Park show?
  15. Has anyone used these rods yet? Looking at the TLCC70MM. Also looking at a dobyns champion 704/705cb either glass or regular. Cannot decide what I want to purchase yet. Ive got can get some money off of dobyns, lews, purefishing, and some shimano stuff so I'm looking at those brands.
  16. Im just going to start using them. Basically use snaps to changes colors and find out what the fish want. Once you figure it out cut the snap off and tie directly to the bait.
  17. I caught tons of fish on the ghost color until I backlashed and got it hungup on a laydown while bank fishing. Havent had the same luck on white as I lost that one on a bad knot..
  18. Personally I dont like throwing spinnerbaits on my 735c, the 734 seems like a better rod for it. As for the saavy 766flip, I dont have the microguides. The rod is just a big flipping stick but I do like it for the cost. If I were to get two it would be the 735 and 734.
  19. If you can get in contact with Steve Mui I highly suggest it. He is a stick on Geneva. He doesnt guide but he may show you a thing or two if you run into him out there. Asian guy running a legend.
  20. Do you have dues? ALso is your first tournament an open? My club hosts a hs tournament the following day (april 12th) that draws in 75+boats and 300+people. If its open I might fish it.
  21. Fish it with pauses and jerks. Thats how I get them to act differently
  22. I enjoy using them when they're working. When they arent its like musky fishing which I'm not a huge fan of. Hours of running around tossing a heavy lure reeling your but off. Will I be fishing it where it is legal, yes. Will it be in my hand all day? No.
  23. Best way to find out is to simply fish them all.
  24. I saw an improvement in my stx once I cleaned all of the extra grease and crap out of my reel.
