  1. Yeah I he has everything he needs to paint them. He air brushes everything except fishing gear
  2. http://www.bassmaster.com/news/100-survival-rate-classic-bass Some could have died post release but at least they made it back to the water alive.
  3. My friend is having some of his lures repainted by a friend he is a master with an airbrush. The only problem is that he works on everything besides fishing lures. Should my friend purchase blank baits from a site like jannscraft? Also can you purchase blank strike king or similar brand baits? If he repaints used lures does he have to sand it down the apply a clear coat later? Any info will help, I am basically asking for a beginners guide to painting custom crankbaits.
  4. 1. I will touch the line but sometimes i just watch it and wait to feel the bite on my rod. 2. If you have a big boat sure but if its small have someone fish in the back
  5. True but a top tier education is my first requirement. Trust me I received awards in upwards of 30,000 plus from multiple schools and almost full rides at a few. I choose the top tier university over them, I put my education first.
  6. High School is a different ball of wax because you have to throw minors in to the mix. Most college fishing scholarships are a $1000 which would not convince me to go to a specific school.
  7. You are doing it the wrong way. Find some students that want to fish/ start a fishing club. Then have them start a fishing student organization. At my school student organizations are not affiliated with the school ( basically school does not take responsibility for their actions. Once the club is created make a constitution that protects the students. You may not get funded by the school but at least you have your club. Another good point is our student organizations can get funding for events which helps out ( it is the same as a track club or volleyball club). Once you have an actual club with registered members then you can be eligible for FLW tournaments and things of that nature. If you go the route I am telling you then the club will be easy to start.
  8. Get in contact with kids from hoffman estates they have a team.
  9. You need student that want to join. Why start a club with no members? Also you sound like you want to start something that has more to do with your local park district than it does the high school. Your first goal should be gaining members for the high school club ( have students sign a petition) the present the benefits and also the things you will do besides fishing ex teaching young grammar school kids about fishing.
  10. I wish more teachers expressed their personal interests or contacted their universities or high schools club.
  11. If my partner or brother blanks out day one I am giving him info if I am not in the top 10. Our team gives eachother helpful hints but we do not give out every detail unless it is a team tournament.
  12. Throw a shad rap parallel to the wall and reel back. Throw it into the rushing water as well.
  13. Trokar hooks. Expensive but you can shave with them if you wanted to.
  14. What does everyone think of the Black Hawks tearing up the NHL right now? I was at the game on friday and witnessed them make history.
  15. Similar lip not a similar action.
  16. Felt the c3 at my local shop. Slapped it on a rod and did not like it there wasnt a good place to keep my fingers comfortably. I prefer low profile reels over round reels.
  17. Crank baits and spinnerbaits. Cover water then slow it down and fish t rigs and stuff like that.
  18. Yeah I want to go with a pretty stout rod with decent sensitivity. I can get the Fenwicks for a steal so I like it. Also I might go with the st croix mojo swimbait rod, cheap and gets the job done. I like putting more money into other techniques ex drop shot, shakey heads and then jig rods. I am not a fan of round reels , I really cant figure out where to rest my finger I like the toro winch better.
  19. Very true I was talking with my friend about it. I wasnt sure of the versatility of a swim bait rod especially a 7 ft 9 H. If I am not throwing an a rig or swim bait I want to be able to use it for something else. I assume heavier jigs and punch rigs, maybe frogs in mats? I have a jig / frog rod but nothing very heavy.
  20. I want to get in to throwing smaller sized swim baits ( sub 3 oz) and also a rigs. I have a revo winch that I am going to throw them on. The only problem is that I do not have a dedicated rod. Also using the winch takes it off another rod that I use for crankbaits. I am stuck between getting the veritas schooling rod and the fenwick aetos swimbait rod. Then on top of that I want to get a reel to slap on a 7ft mh that I use for deep cranking. I do not know if I should get an stx or sx (6:4) for the 7 mh for a more versatile rod or if I should just get another winch or possibly abu c4 for the swim bait/ a rig rod. This is kind of a confusing post, basically im trying to decide how to spend my money. Do I want to spend more for the aetos or go the cheap route with the veritas and then buy an sx to fill the gap.
  21. Cork isn't as much about being light as it is the handle material. I prefer the feel of cork over foam. I also like the weathered looks my rod gets after fishing using a rod repeatedly.
  22. That is my friends favorite reel for the price. I like how it feels as well. TW will take care of the reel situation since it is brand new.
  23. *Update* We have been launched for about two weeks and we already have 25 boats signed up 11 different schools.
  24. I meant to say those or the 6th sense ones. The traditional style of bobber stops are yarn and they will slide up your line from time to time.
