Using Heavier Than Recommended Weights
I wish these limits were more clear, obviously if I boat flip a fish that is going to put more stress on a rod then a flip / pitch. The only time I see anyone ever going over these limits is punching or throwing swimbaits ( unless it is like a UL,ML rod). I have thrown 1oz weights on a 7' mh before and I have not seen a real impact. Also when I am throwing 1/2oz weight with a beaver bait and hook i am over that 1/2oz mark and dont see any change.

Using Heavier Than Recommended Weights
Most rods have recommended weight limits for instance the dobyns 735c has a limit of 1/4 to 1/2 oz. What happens when you throw a heavier than recommended weight say 1oz?

Plano Guide Series Bag 4674
I am looking into getting a new tackle bag. currently I have a cabelas bag filled with 5 3600 plano boxes and another couple smaller boxes filled with jigs. Does anyone have experience with this tackle bag or something similar? I want to use the 4674 to hold basically all of my stuff without needing an extra bag. Let me know your input. Also i will be using this fishing as a co angler so that has to be taken into consideration if it wont fit under the console.

"faded' Crankbaits >>>
Honestly most people miss fish because of where they are casting. You may throw around a brush pile or a downed tree with limbs but the real key is deflection. I was fishing on the back of the boat with two people fishing up front. We were all throwing KVD 1.5s and after they had casted at the same spot and didn't catch anything I threw it in closer and bounced it off a limb and caught a nice 3.5lb fish. You cannot be afraid to lose a bait, that day almost every fish was caught off a deflection of some sort. Yes color is important but there are other factors that are key.

Need A New Ul Rod
x2 Great Rod. It is important that you pay for a rod with a lifetime warranty with UL rods. Had a friend that bought his UL avid from work and snapped it in a week tying on a lure. Don't tie on and hold the tip at the same time it only ends badly. St. Croix took the rod in and replaced it for him right away, great customer service.

Baitcaster Or Spinning?
From my picture you can tell what brand I am about to recommend and that is Abu Garcia. I feel that you will really like the Abu Garcia Revo S Gen 3. But if you can I would suggest you scan the flea market for someone selling a Gen 2 Revo STX I am sure you can get one for less than $150. Try and find someone sponsored that is selling a reel ( college is your best bet) because they tend to sell their reels for what they paid for them which is significantly less than msrp.

Megastrike Cavitron Buzzbaits?
Try regular berkley trilene extra smooth monofilament, it casts really nice and it is super cheap. My local shop will spool whatever pound test on your reel for less than the cost of buying a spool. I suggest going to your local bait shop , you might be able to get it spooled for about $4.50/$5.

Favorite Rare Lure Pic
That Heddon torpedo prop bait ( think its an early version of the zara spook like) works pretty well until you get it stuck in a tree.

Windy Days
If you can get into position and make a cast at a wind swept bank I highly advise throwing a spinnerbait ,especially with cloud cover. Just make sure to have your reel set properly , the wind can create some nasty backlashes.

Used Gear
By this I mean not everyone is going to use their reels the same. Some guys might have a reel for a year or two and only use it on their monthly fishing trip. I have personally used reels for 20 hours in two days when pre fishing/ fishing a tournament. I do not feel that the weekend angler puts that same abuse on their reels. If you take care of your gear it will take care of you,

Not really. Old does not always = rare. Your best bet is to find off the wall brands that used to be popular but are no longer around.

Favorite Rare Lure Pic
I will post a few pictures of my favorite lures once I am back home. I have about 20 new in the box from the 60s/70s

Used Gear
I just cant buy reels used. I know I fish my reels pretty hard and when I saw they are heavily used it is different than what someone else may say is heavily used.
-
Used Gear
I tend to buy new on sale/ at a discount that way I do not have to worry about anything.

Be Careful What You Wish For
If it had a warranty I would claim it then sell it. That being said I doubt it still has a warranty or else you would have already done this. Re tip it and you have a pretty good back scratcher.

Senkos For $3.59.
Try Yum dingers. At $5 they are a really good alternative to Yamamoto Senkos. That being said I honestly have not found a Senko imitation that is as good as the Senko. I have tried some hand pours that were insanely cheap and they do not have the same fall rate.

Just Scored Some Classic Lures For Free!!
I had an older man than came in when I was working one day, we got to talking about old lures and he said he would bring a few in next time he was in the area. He had not one but two in the box chippewa lures. It is an old musky lure and it is honestly the coolest lure I have ever seen. Turns out they are also pretty valuable. The other lures in his box were also valuable. It is honestly the first time I have had a couple hundred dollars worth of old fishing lures in my hands.

Used Gear
Some websites offer items that are discounted because they have been returned/ have slight cosmetic damage. Buying something used I always worry about how hard the item has been used. Most of my friends that fish tournaments use their reels a lot more frequently than your average fishermen. Some guys blow through reels because of the amount of usage they get. I trust them not to burn me on a sale but I feel like I would rather buy most things new or on sale.

Used Gear
What is your opinion on buying used gear? I know that sites like tackle warehouse or St. Croix sell partially used gear yet some do not come with warranties. Most reels only come with one year warranties and of those are void by the time you pick up the used reel. Do you think that buying used reels or rods is worth the risk? I know my friend is selling two quantum smoke reels that are a little under a year old but to me it just does not seem worth the risk. Even if the buyer is legitimate there is no telling how long the product will last in my opinion. What is your experience with used rods/reels?

Rod Advice! Part 2
Check these fish out. Both caught on a 7' mh st. croix mojo bass bait casting rod . The Jig and trailer barely fit in the fishes mouth and I literally pulled it out of the water on the hook set. The fish caught on the texas rig also flew out of the water. For spinning reels I prefer a M action rod or even a ML for finesse fishing. http://imgur.com/a/mO24Y
