I like them both but prefer watermelon. To be honest I am getting tired of water melon it is my fall back bait color. I like switching it up and grabbing random colors. If you are not sure about what color works, ask people in your area. My lakes are different than Southern cal and florida so it is tough to judge.

I have an about 5 year old Abu garcia cardinal that still works perfectly and trust me I beat that reel up. It has survived rain,mud, drops and caught hundreds of fish. For the price it is a great reel line up. Also I am a big fan of the pflueger presidents. I have been putting more money into bait casting setups lately so i havent picked up a higher end spinning reel but I do use my friends from time to time.

Try a spinner bait, unless thats what you mean by a blade bait. Slow roll it and deep it deep. Also make your jigs huge with a big trailer. Fish in cold water want an easy big meal. Maybe a jerk bait as well or a swimbait. Everything is worth a shot. Shakey head?

The shop I worked at had a list of things to buy. We could order almost anything someone asked for. Most times we would be ordering boat parts, basically if you can name a part on a boat we could order a replacement. The other times it would be random baits or colors, mostly plastics.

Something at least 7ft in length and fiber glass. It will crank better than graphite, especially deep cranking. Preferably a M power, you can go MH.

I have the same rod , I like it a lot but do wish it was longer. I am going to throw shallow cranks on it and invest in a glass rod for deeper baits. For $80 you cannot beat the sensitivity.

For $110 I look at fenwick HMG triggerstick, though you can find them at sub $100 thats just suggested msrp. I don't like the veritas, it is a cheap rod and it suits that purpose well. Yes the Fenwick costs about the same but it has a better reel seat and guides IMO. Abu makes reels better than they do rods. Want to spend more then move into dobyns.

Contact your local college's bass teams. Besides school and tournaments our schedules are normally free. Most of us have a decent amount of experience, also we have our own gear and are familiar with the rules. Most of our alumni contact us for co angler spots on FLW tournaments and the like so we are open to it. Also if you are looking to fish in the summer we are really eager to get out on a boat and fish so we will definitely consider it then. Some things you need to answer are: How much experience do you have? How committed are you? Are you looking to work your way into the FLW circuit or are you looking to fish local tournaments? How are you going to split costs? Gas paid for by boater and entry fees split 50/50 etc ?

If you want to scare someone get a stereo that plays the sound of a round chambering it is just as effective. No point in owning a gun( for self defense) if you are not prepared to use it to defend your life. I am not a gun expert norm but can I suggest watching penetration test videos on youtube? They will shed light on which ammunition penetrates more or less in a home defense scenario.

Like a portable battery charger? the paddles are a no brainer, who rents a boat with no paddles? I would just use an spare outboard if i had one that ran.

Texas rigged on a 3/0 hook with any weight you want is an awesome setup.

The batteries came from a couple different cars they still work in those cars we just replaced them with better ones.

I plan on renting a boat on a small lake that allows you to use trolling motors. I have the spare motor just not the battery. I have got like 3 car batteries laying around. I was told that it would work but it would not be for constant usage. How much usage could I get out of a car battery vs. a deep cycyle? I really dont want to spend the money on a battery.
